A lot of players underestimate Aphrodite when it comes to damage which is Aphrodite's biggest asset because enemies will tend to walk right into your 3 and get destroyed late game.
Even if this is a damage build, Aphrodite can still heal a ton with this because her heal scales with her damage, so link up with the adc or warrior in your team.
PROS:
- High sustain
- Underrated damage
- 40s Sanctuary + Beads
- Has stun and knockback
- Virtually unkillable late-game
CONS:
- Super vulnerable early-game
- High cooldowns until she gets to mid-game
- Slow travel time of her 3rd ability
- No mobility
Aphrodite relies mainly on cooldown and pen so she can spam her abilities. So getting CDR boots and Chrono's early game is ideal. When your CDR is at 30%, you can start spamming your 3 and 2 BUT NOT your 1. Your stun will only be level 1 early game so its cooldown will still be really long.
You should get Book of Thoth next for the mana and damage because Aphrodite is mana-hungry in all phases of a match, even late-game. If you don't want to build stacks, you can get Soul Reaver instead. However, Book of Thoth can easily be stacked once your 3 is maxed at level 10. If you want to heal instead, get Rod of Asclepius at this point.
Spear of the Magus is a must for a pen item since her main damaging ability is DPS. You should be doing a considerable amount of damage by this time.
Pythagorem's Piece is also a must if you want that heavy sustain from lifesteal and max CDR.
Finally, Rod for that really big magic damage boost.
Once your buid is complete, your 3 should shred the health of most squishy characters. If you want that easy kill, do the 1-3-2 combo and maybe 2 autos if they're still alive.
The thing with Aphro is that most if not all her abilities have CDR reductions per level so it's good to max out her 2 main damaging abilities first but leave at least one level for her stun and ult. Then max her stun before maxing her ult.
Early Game:
ABSOLUTELY do not play aggressively early-game. Stand back and farm. Stay within tower or ally-range because early game is when Aphrodite has super high cooldowns and is mana-hubgry af, so use your abilities to farm and clear. I would say Aphrodite's early game ends when you get Book of Thoth which means you should already have 30% CDR and additional 100 magic damage.
Mid-game:
With Book of Thoth, you can afford to poke while building stacks. When you get Spear of the Magus, your enemies will really feel the damage of your 3. Remember to do her 1-3-2 combo. You will also have enough sustain to heal up all the damage in the field. Just make sure to wait for any Divine Ruin or Beatstick effects to subside or else you'll waste your heal.
Late-game:
This is where Aphrodite shines and can shred enemy mages/assassins/hunters if they're not careful in team fights. Aphrodite's 3rd ability ticks 6 times and with a full build can deal about 118-120 damage per tick (total of 650+) plus her 2 which deals around 400 damage late game and can come from your ally who's linked.
1.) Do not waste your stun in early game. At max level you can throw your stun every 10 seconds but early game its cooldown reaches up to 18 seconds.
2.) Aphrodite is a late game god so be patient otherwise you will get ganked easily.
3.) Like most mages, Aphrodite should only stay behind the lines and deal damage from afar. This is where she actually excels because not a lot of players notice her damage.
4.) Her 3rd ability ticks 6 times even if you just brush an enemy with it unlike Anubis' abilities. In other words, the damage per second sticks to the enemy as long as they get hit by it. There is no escaping the damage once an enemy gets hit.
5.) Her 2nd ability can also come from her Soulmate and when it does, it slows instead of knocks back. This is a very discreet way of damaging enemies and killing them when they run away
6.) At max level, her ult has a 40 second cooldown so that's like a free Aegis and Beads for you and your ally every half a minute. Don't be stingy with it.
7.) During team fights, Aphrodite's abilities are hard to see. Her 3 is just a bunch of small dots flying in a line and her 2 usually comes from your melee ally, so use this to your advantage.
8.) 1-3-2 in that order ALWAYS because her 3 travels slowly.
9.) When fighting a melee god one on one, you can easily bait them into your 3 by simply juking within it when you cast it because it travels slowly. Trust me, I went one on one with a full crit Mercury and killed him with Love Birds and my 2. Walked away with half health because of sustain.
I know a lot of players will still think Aphrodite sucks but when played properly and SMARTLY, Aphrodite can carry a team. With this build, I usually get 10+ kills and 0-1 death. Not too bad for a "sucky" god that only heals and supports in the meta.
Anyway, thanks for reading! Try this build out but don't get too excited. The best part of Aphrodite is that enemies don't expect to get killed by her.
