This is a standard build for for bruiser Guardians. Standard Bruiser Guardians that I would consider relevant include:
Cthulhu, 
Jormungandr, 
Xing Tian, 
Sobek, 
Cerberus, 
Artio, 
Ymir
Cases could be made for most guardians to have bruiser potential though.
Item order isn't incredibly important, but Breastplate of Valor is your early-mid game Physical defence item (+CDR), and Void Stone is your early-mid game Magical Defence item (+Damage). Of course there are other options but this is a good starting template.
Last 3 items are all interchangeable - can get in any preferred order. To get items 7,8, you would first sell Warrior's Blessing and then buy 
Elixir of Speed + Sell Boots to get the eighth listed.
Thorns is the only staple relic in my mind for Cthulhu as with all the damage reduction in his ult, if people hit you they'll easily kill themselves before you. It is also a great staple relic for tanks in general.
Bulwark of Hope is a great alternative Magic Defence item, particularly when being focused. Great in Cthulhu ult if teams are focusing you down. Other alternative items worth consideration:
Pridwen (Def + CDR)
Pestilence (Magic Def + Antiheal)
Midgardian Mail (Anti-AA, anti-phys)
Stone of Gaia (Health + Regen)
Pythagorem's Piece (Power + lifesteal and aura to allies)
