Starting Sands of Time allows for early access into Cooldown Reduction. Going into Charon's Coin first item after helps stack as well as grants you some of the movement speed I talk about in the build. Starting off Beads allows you to run away when things get dicey.
Temporal Beads reduces cooldown timers after use making escape easier with your portals and rifts. Entangling Wings gives you and allies around movement speed as well as rooting enemies that are close. Having max cooldown as well as a mix of power, attack speed, and movement speed has allowed me to have a very fun time in game.
Since we are sacrificing damage on the items side we can make such decisions when pertaining to the abilities. Early game stay back and poke until you have threshold, then you can really start moving around.
*WARNING* Build Level "Troll" : Proceed With Caution...
Don't Use, No Damage Will Be Dealt. Only Rubber Will Be Burnt with the 600+ Movement that is achievable with the use of his abilities passive.
Lets have some fun, and in the name of fun I had the idea of sacrificing some damage or penetration. For the ability to zip around the fight super quick with the use of his ability "Threshold". Which after the first read of its description, I had thought that he granted a total of 20% movement speed. However the ability actually has two different effects. Its active effect has the ability to be used to slow and mark enemies to take more damage from you. The passive effect of this ability is what ties in to his official passive which is "Passages". So Janus technically has a passive with two different effects, that ties to the same action. The passive on the ability "Threshold" increases movement speed of you and your allies when they go over the rift you put down. But it also applies to your portals from the 1 and the ultimate. Sense you get 2 stacks of the movement speed (1 from going over the rift you put down with Threshold, and the 2 stack when going through a portal) you actually get 40% movement speed in total if you use your abilities right. There is a 5 second timer on the passive but it gets extended after getting the second stack. So I would recommend that you portal and then rift to get the maximum amount of speed and time out of the passive. Every time you pass over a rift or go through a portal, you also activate Janus' official passive which gives him 15% percent additional scaling on his next damaging ability.
With the big boost to movement speed I have found a greater ability to dodge oncoming abilities as well as autos. While I do believe that going the full movement speed build can be fun, I put that more on the troll side and something I would rather do in a 1v1. I don't have an Arena Build for Janus because he unfortunately can't fully utilize his Ultimate. Janus is much better on full map scale game modes.
That aside, how I typically try and play Janus is as an annoying fly that cannot be swat down. Using my additional movement speed to dodge incoming damage and stay out of range of more deadly threats. Being able to instantly portal through a wall helps with getting away as well as breaking line of sight so you could maybe pull off a juke. Combo your ground portal and your 2 to deal good burst damage as well as use your rift to slow down enemies to keep them from escaping. Usage of the ult can be varied. You can go for long range snipes on enemies or even jungle camps that you might be able to steal. Or even use it as a team rotation tool because your entire team will be able to go through the portals it creates, allowing for your team to go from one side of the map to the other in record speed. One play that I regularly try and do in Slash is after killing Apophis, I ult through the enemy jungle right to the Enemy Titan.
I have a lot of fun making builds specifically for gods and I hope y'all enjoy the builds I come up with. Being honest, I'm not a big fan of conquest. I have been having a lot of fun in Slash and even in Arena so that is why I have builds for those game modes. I didn't add a Conquest build because I don't believe this is a build that is meta. Therefor, sense the main competitive game mode is Conquest, I would say to not bring in builds that are more for fun. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the build.
