Hello Ladies and Gentleman, I'm Wortigon, veteran in many online games, however I'm relatively new to Smite. Kukulkan was one of the first gods who picked my interest with his insane burst damage, I believe I had him as an opponent in my second game, and it was obvious to me that I'll get him and master him, since who wouldn't want to play as a flying snake with wings? Pretty much like a usual chinese dragon from festivals, though for that you'd need a skin.
For introduceing Kukulkan, I recommend reading about his lore, but in terms of introducing his in game character, it's actually pretty simple. Kukulkan is a heavy AOE damage centered mage, that we can see in many games, however this also means, that he's a glasscannon.
His main damage sources are his whirlwind, and his ultimate, spirit of the nine winds, but his Zephyr deals quite nice damage too, and with the correct build, we can make even his basics impressively OP.
I constructed most of this guide when I was only level 16 or so, and only revised it now that I'm 30, and updated it with some new stuff, according with the changes in the meta.
Passive: Power of the Wind Jewel is extremely powerful, especially if you combine it with Book of Toth. This is one of the primary reasons why I recommend using that item, however it's 100 sheer power bonus is a nice thing to have too.
1: Zephyr with Polynomicon, it can become a massive 2shot damage source, that hit for about half hp of an opponent if not more. (as in, half hp of a non deffensive build hunter/assassin/mage), a pretty good initiation, and it's cooldown is reasonably short to be used often.
2: Slipstream, it's basicly your only escape or chase method. Since you're ranged, chasing is much easyer for you, than for many meelee classes, however without dash, leap, or teleport skills, you can't really get out of a sticky situation in any other way, so I'd recommend using this skill mostly for this reson, at least if you're in arena, or close to a massive teamfight.
3: whirlwind, he can easily keep a lane clear of minions, or deal massive amounts of damage over time to enemies. This skill is awesome for harrassing opponents, or simply to make them retreat. Can also be used to cover for teammates in a fight, since the dot it gives stays on for a set amount of time, many gods wouldn't chose walking into it.
ultimate: spirit of the nine winds, is one of the most powerful possible onehitters in the game, ideal for getting the "Kaboom" achievement as well. If this skill lands, your opponent is as good as dead if he tries to fight back and you started from roughly the same hp.
PROS
-Awesome burst damage
-AOE damage (mostly)
-easy to handle
-you're a flying snake
CONS
-heavy mana dependability
-weak against assassinsonce they got in close
-hard to escape from good chaser gods
Blaster mode refers to 2 things in the name.
First, the insane burst damage. As you may have noticed, most items in the build give an awesome amount of magic power, and a fair amount of CD decrese to your disposal, meaning you can use your ultimamte relatively often, just like your other skills, while their power is boosted to the sky.
Second, the passive of Polynomicon. With a basic attack between any 2 of your skills gives you a source of damage that's close to your Zephyr; and it also looks like you fire a bullet of wind from Kuku's mouth.
In early game, your strategy should focus on staying alive and farming in many gold on the minions, and getting some early kills, mostly on hunters/mages/assassins of your opponents with your whirlwind's dot and your blasting.
The chain is as follows: Whirlwind -> basic attack -> Zephyr -> basic attack
this chain should be enough to take down most of an opponents health
if your ultimate would happen to be off cd, it's either the perfect finisher, or initiator skill, since it has a really long range; however it's best to use it for a medium/short distance, since it's easy to avoid it if it's fired for a too long distance. Or you can fire it towards a god that has his back towards you for some reason, such as one that's trying to run away from you.
There are 2 achievements in smite at the moment, that you can only complete as Kukulkan.
1: Kill an opponent from full hp with only your ultimate
2: Kill 3 opponents with 1 whirlwind
One of them should be a piece of cake with the Achievement hunter build (look for it at the top of the guide), since it bossts your ultimate's damage up to heaven's, making it hit well over 1600 points if you're lucky.
The other achievement thou will be a bit more problematic, since it requires some assistancce. First, putting 1 whirlsind on 3 opponents together is a big enough challenge in many gamemodes in the first place (conquest/siege), but even if you manage, they'd probably not die from just that. What you'll most likely need, is the help of an Ares, and either Hades or Odin.
This achievement isn't hard either if you can get your friends help with it; in 1 arena match you should be able to get it easily.
First, Ares pulls the opponents together with his ultimate, than either Hades (prefered) or Odin (less prefered) keep the opponents together with their ultimate, so you can cast your whirlwind on them when their hp is already lowered by your other skills, and your friends. (if you manage this achievement, you'll also achieve the "Cleanup crew" achievement)
