Notes Death's Embrace Essential starter for Bellona because you heal 1.4% of your maximum health every time you hit someone.

Golden Blade With this item you will push the minions better because you do extra damage around whoever you hit.

Berserker's Shield gives you mixed defenses and a lot of attack speed and the passive gives you more defense and attack speed when your health drops below 60%.

Qin's Blade You deal 3% of your maximum life with each basic attack and if he has more health than you, you do 4% more.

Void Shield Mixed item that reduce physical defenses to near enemies.

Oni Hunter's Garb is the best magic defense item because it provides you with mitigations the more enemy players you have around.

Hide of the Nemean Lion right now the carries are very strong and this item gives you a passive that when you activate it you reflect damage, that's why it's very good vs carries.

Blink Rune You can teleport a few meters in front of you while you are in combat.

Introduction

Hi, this guide is brought to you by lestimics. I started playing Smite 1 on PC in 2014. I've been playing competitively since 2020 and have been a professional Smite player from 2021 to 2023. I've played on different teams like JustF6, Gilded Gladiators or Tartarus Titans.

You can check out the SmiteVOD YouTube channel where my recorded professional games are. I've peaked at 3500 MMR GrandMaster/Masters in Ranked Conquest on the PC platform every season since 2018. I've also done Smite Masters (LAN) 4 times in 2022, so I really think I have the knowledge to guide on the Solo role in SMITE 2.

I hope you find this guide as a useful learning resource for playing Bellona as Solo.

Here are my socials:

Abilities

Bellona's Abilities

Passive - Master Of War

When you hit or are hit by basic attacks, you gain stacks of movement speed (Max stacks 5).

If using Sword and Shield after Shield Bash, you also get Protection Stacks.

If using Hammer after Bludgeon, you also get Strength Stacks.

If using Scourge after Scourge, you also get Attack Speed Stacks.

All buffs duration 7 seconds.

Ability 1 - Shield Bash

Bellona dashes forward with your shield to deal physical damage and slow enemies in front of you. Change to Sword and Shield basic attacks.

Every third successful basic attack grants a block stack and reflecting damage.

Shield Bash is very good Vs basic attack characters like carries because you will be able to block their basics and reflect the damage back at them.

Ability 2 - Bludgeon

Bellona spins her hammer to deal physical damage to enemies around you (if you hit more enemies in the spin you will do more damage), then slam to deal physical damage to enemies in a line.

Change to hammer basic attacks and now you your basic attacks hit nearby enemies.

This ability is essential for clearing waves of minions and it generally deals a lot of damage.

Ability 3 - Scourge

Bellona attacks with her scourge to deal physical damage in a straight line and disarm enemies. Switch to scourge basic attacks

Your basic attacks heal you and gain attack speed.

This ability is also very good like Shield Bash against basic attack characters because if you hit them with this skill they cannot launch basic attacks for 1.9 seconds.

Ultimate - Eagle's Rally

Bellona leaps forward and plants her flag to deal physical damage and stun enemies. You are CC's Immune while leaping

The flag empowers you and allied gods in the area, granting strength, Intelligence, physical protection, and magical protection.

Eagle's Rally is a very good ability to do engage and get close to enemies.

Example Combos:

Shield Bash to get closer and slow the enemy > 1 or 2 basic attacks > Bludgeon > Scourge > basic attacks > if enemy uses a skill to escape > Eagle's Rally to stun the enemy > basic attacks

Eagle's Rally to stun the enemy and get closer > basic attacks > Shield Bash > basic attacks > Bludgeon > Scourge > basic attacks

How to play Bellona

Gameplay Start / Early Game
  • Start on the fire giant's side of the lane. In the first wave of minions you have to gather the minions to push using Bludgeon hitting the enemy god so that the minions will hit you and we can push basics with the hammer. Thanks to the fast push that Bellona has you have several options:

  • 1st Invade the blue buff.

  • 2nd Push a second wave of minions to level up to 2 and invade their blue buff or you can do your buff if you see that the enemy jungler can gank you.

  • The following moves are to push the lane and try to win the Totem (Totem gives gold for the whole team and mana regeneration). You have a good 1vs1 thanks to the fast push with Bludgeon so you can try to kill him or not let him push the minions to be able to get the Totem more easily and be able to invade the harpies on the sides or quickly make your own to continue creating pressure.

  • On the side camps you can kill the gold camp which doesn't give you experience but a lot of gold, and the two harpy camps give gold and experience.

  • Remember to buy wards to avoid the ganks and try to comunicate to the jungle to invade blue buffs or try to kill the solo laner.

  • From this point it is repeating the same thing push minions > blue buff > Totem > harpy camps.

Mid Game:
  • At this point of the game, which is roughly between 10:00 and 20:00 minutes, you have to push the lanes as quickly as possible and try to rotate because right now you have a very good 1vs1 especially vs the jungler and the carrys and you should beat everyone, so you have to take this advantage by rotating and forcing fights or looking for kills using your ultimate Eagle's Rally for engage.

  • If you do rotations in mid lane, try to get into the enemy jungle to ward Vision Ward and look for the enemy jungler to be able to look for a kill or leave him with low health to be able to do the pyromancer.

  • If you use the teleporter from the solo to the duo lane, you have to do the same play but trying to kill the carry and gain the pressure to be able to do the Gold Fury.

Late Game:
  • At this point in the game your job is to be the frontline with the support as teamfights start around the fire giant at around minute 25:00.

  • Bellona's late game is not his strong point so you have to be careful.

  • To deal with this type of situation you have to take advantage by using the bushes to become invisible, looking for the 1vs1 against the jungler and the enemy carry or looking for an engage with your team using your ultimate Eagle's Rally to stun enemies.

  • Remember that your abilities Shield Bash and Scourge counter carries and junglers' basic attacks.

  • The moment you have the fire giant buff, the sieges on the Phoenix begin. Here you have to take advantage of your Scourge potential to not let carrys enemies throw basic atacks and you can also use your ultimate Eagle's Rally to engage with stun and combo with your team and destroy the Phoenix with the help of your carry and mid slowly. You can also go with your jungle to another Phoenix to create pressure since you have a lot of defense to tank and your jungle can do good damage to the Phoenix easily, adding to the fact that you have a very good fight.

  • If the enemy has the fire giant and it is your turn to defend the Phoenix, you have to be in a group with your team and defend under the Phoenix, being careful with the picks.

  • Constantly call for all information, when you engage try to be followed by your team, always be sure of your decision making.

  • Remember to wards all the zone on fire giant and when you are sieging you need wards too.

How to ward as Solo

White circles: Vision Ward
Green circles: Sentry Ward

Early/Mid Game

Here you can see the best spots to ward as a Sololaner.

These wards will help you to know where the enemy sololaner is moving, as well as if the jungler is trying to gank you.

High Pressure Game

These wards are when you have a lot of pressure in lane and you want to invade blue buffs and red buffs. Remember to call your team that you want to invade so they can help you.

Late Game

These wards are for fire giant teamfights. Remember that you can only have 2 wards active at the same time, so you will need help from your team to ward the entire area from the fire giant.

Siege/Defense Phoenix

These wards are very important when it comes to sieges and defending phoenixes. In this case, the wards are the same whether you defend or attack.
This wards are important because mages often cast abilities through walls, you will be able to react better to their abilities.

Does this build pair well with her aspect?
1
Branmuffin17 (401) | February 28, 2025 5:36pm
Note that the aspect only affects the bonus damage on her Bludgeon, while giving teammates the potential of gaining block stacks or minor healing, which is obviously great in teamfight situations.

In Conquest you'll lose a bit of bullying potential in laning due to the loss of the bonus damage, but you'll be a better teamfighter late-game. This build will be fine with or without the aspect.
