Hey, thanks for coming to my guide, I am an Xbox One player of Smite and mainly play Assasins. The first one I tried was Mercury and I quickly found myself liking him. I like Mercury because of his high damage potential and his mobility. My build focuses on Mercury's strengths and somewhat counters his weaknesses. Bear in mind that Mercury is specialised at one on one combat but will be easy pickings for a coordinated team assault by the enemy.
Pros of Mercury:
Very Fast and annoying to deal with
Can escape with two of his abilities
Very quick damage output thanks to high attack speed and critical hit damage
Can live longer with life steal
Great at ganking weakened enemies
Cons of Mercury:
Still squishy
Very susceptible to crowd control
Must rely on target being unaware of his presence
Healthy targets will be harder to deal with even with benefits from his passive
Early Game:
Charge up your passive before the game starts then take speed camp with the solo laner then take mana camp. Go for the mid harpies and if there, either kill or force enemy jungles to retreat. Go for the lower harpies on your side and if possible, the enemy side. Once you have enough, get Ninja Tabi and start to get Devourers Gauntlet in order to build stacks for life steal, help out your team by killing the smaller jungle monsters, leaving the big one with buff alive but make sure you keep an eye for enemies who might notice the lone jungle monster and get an easy buff provided by you.
Mid Game:
This is the time to start ganking, prioritising low health targets. While you're doing this, be sure to keep clearing XP camps and get whatever buff you need and keep an eye out for the enemy jungler and prevent him from ganking your teammates. When a target might be a bit too hard to take down, use Special Delivery to chuck the enemy to your teammates and allow them to do damage while also following up with Made You Look and Maximum Velocity. Consider if your team has the advantage or not, if you do have the advantage, focus on picking from the attacking item builds but if you're on the backfoot, go more defensive.
Late Game:
Time to start tearing apart the enemy team one by one with Rage and Deathbringer and watch how enemies die within seconds provided you are hitting them. Consider going for the Gold Fury as you probably have max stacks on Devourers Gaunlet and also have plenty of attack speed and may also have Wrath of The Gods. Also consider going for the Fire Giant with your team and be sure to be the first their and if you have a consumable spot available, get a Sentry Ward and Ward the Fire Giant to check if the enemy has the same intentions as you if they have started their assault, go in when it has lost half its health and if you have it, use Wrath of The Gods to steal the buff then escape. Continue ganking and taking buffs that you want while helping your team too. If you have the upper hand, there will certainly be a high chance of victory.
This build focuses on Attack Speed and Damage, Mercury's bread and butter while also utilising crits. Mercury has great one on one damage and movement speed that can definitely be complimented even further with the right items. Mercury's success does tend to be based on if his team is dominating or not as it will determine his build. With the right build and luck, Mercury can be effective Early,Mid and Late Game. Mercury is a very high risk, high reward Assassin that can either be unstoppable or get pushed over. Thank you for reading my guide and good luck as Mercury
