cross strikes level 1 for clear then get grapple for early pulls, if you clear is fast enough rush the enemy at their purple and pluck and horrific.

Mulan does not need power her base damage is already cracked.
there are a few reasons why Mulan makes a great tank, for starters she gets 5% protections and movement speed once her grapple training arc is done.
here are the protections from the build iv created in game
298 261 | Base protections(no shifters)
314 275 | after 5% training arc buff
334 295 | with shifters 20 protections
Mulan also gains 45 of each protection for 6 seconds after grappling a god
314 275 | Base protections (no shifters, no grapple)
341 321 | no shifters proc after grapple
341 341 | shifters active after grapple
with 40% CDR Mulan's grapple is on a 7.8 second cooldown, so as long as you are landing that in fights you have that 45 prot passive up for all with only a small 2+ second gap in-between ability cooldown and activation. its actually ridiculous how tanky Mulan is.
ALSO I GETS WORSE. did i leave out Mulan GETS 30% PROTECTION BUFF WHILE ULTING,
314 275 | Base protections (no shifters)
402 351 | after ult (no shifters).... we have surpassed the 341 cap
429 379 | after ult and shifters..... i don't know if any other god can even reach these numbers, as far as i know you don't get a benefit past 341 but still its impressive and goes to show how tanky Mulan is.
so with this build we normaly chill at 314 phy 275 out of the fight and once in the fight we can almost constantly max at 341+ 341+. we are also almost getting the max 25% damage reduction from item effects as well with 12% on cloak and sigil with 3% base + 9% from sigil stacks, so we are at 24% damage mitigation.
WE HAVENT EVEN USED A ******** EXILIR OF DEFENSE FOR 50 prots and 10% damage mitigation. we dont even need it, just buy the damage one.
so we are getting a little power out of this build, its not nothing.
25 sigil, 40 jotuns, 20 shifters(while active) and we do have 10 flat pen fron jotuns.

***************************** why jotunns ********************************
now with this build we can reach Smites max protections from just grappling with and 5 defensive items so i don't see why you would pick another one. and mulan loves cool down and the 5 defensive items are giving us 20% with our pick. so looking at items that give 20% we have breastplate(useless we got to much prots), pridwin (not the worse and revent gives you a 1,430 health sheild) and jotunns. jotunns is our best option and gives us quite a bit of extra damage, some mana, 20% cdr, some flat pen. BUT jotunns cunning gets even better, once every 5 seconds when you hit a god with a ability you gain 1 wit, and on the next ability you spend that wit and decrease the cooldown of the ability by 20%. this means a 5sec grapple, 5 sec cross strike, 6 sec spear thrust when its applied to these ability. jotuns is the best.
so with this build we have a front line tank who can
1. deal 546 damage in a large area with cross strike every 7.2s.
2. deal 601 damage while healing herself for 168 on 3 targets and deal with spear thrust every 8.3s.
3. deal 413 damage while pulling a enemy out of place at Sylvanus pull range, and the ability is shot out faster then Sylvanus, and its wider then Sylvanus pull, and it gives defense and can be used to move to walls(its so much stronger then a syl pluck its stupid. she can do this every 7.8s.
4. ult and root a whole team for 1 second, then knock them all up for 1 sec and then fire a high damage snipe at the weakest targets. hitting everything is 1059 damage. this is on a 54s cooldown with max cdr.
5. is at or past max protections of both magic and physical damage absorbing damage with a 24% bonus mitigation from items
i don't need to say more, my mulan is at a 70% overall winloss ratio on her, i have 249 matches on her. this god is ****ing great.

Sekhmets scepter is bad and stop getting it on Mulan, that's it jotunns cunning is just better and not gimmick requiring using your thrust (the 5s timer starts on the first stab so you loose like 2 seconds on the cooldown effect because the 2nd spear thrust takes awhile to animated through so you have maybe 2.5 seconds left to use another ability to get the 1s reduction on that ability but now you have cross strikes which takes while to fully deploy or puck that again takes a bit to deploy. you cant get this effect to apply to both cross strikes and grapple after using your heal, Mulan's deployment of ability is just too slow)
