In short, a good laning phase, and strong mid 3v3 presence. A strong poke ability that you can clear the wave while using on the enemy ADC, which also disarms, means that nike's lane pressure is really strong. you spend laning phase just unloading your 1 on the enemy adc, while hitting either the melees or the archers at the same time. in between, use your cleaves to help clear the wave with your adc.
Nike also has surprisingly good peel in lane, if the enemy duo lane aggresses on your ADC, you can jump to knock them up, then 2 to push them away from your adc while he walks to tower. this works the vast majority of the time. You can also use your 2 to cancel enemy channelling abilities that may otherwise kill someone on your team.
She also has good kill potential, as if the enemy adc or even support isnt paying attention you can get between them and their teammate and use your 2 to seperate them, essentially guaranteeing yourself a kill or a beads use at worst. This works best near your tower, but works fine outside of it too.
Once you rotate to mid, you can use essentially the same techniques, using your ult for a large slow or just to survive. you also have the bonus of using your 3 and 2 as setup for your mage ult in a similar way to ***ba/nezha ult (Like This)
Kind of? It definitely has a gimmicky use, pushing people into towers with it, but it is a much more versatile ability than it seems at first glance. A quick list of uses with some examples:
There are two main areas you want to build into on nike, the first being just general tankiness, a good mix of hp and protections. The second, movement speed. This might sound odd at first, but there is a good reason for it. Your main goal as nike is to tank damage and manipulate the enemies positioning to favour you and hopefully get them killed. Being faster aids in this goal tremendously. It helps with the problem of the shield feeling sluggish to move around with, it aids you in getting behind the person you want to push as in the merlin clip above. Being quick also stops the enemy from just walking around the shield and past you.
Nike sieging is, well, a bit gross. It is so so hard to defend against a nike at pheonix. You just W key at their backline and push them out. if the whole team turns on the nike, pop your ult, pop your sprint/horri/thorns, fight them, the phoenix is dead anyway.
Example of the team turning on nike
You tell me how you defend these
1) Squishies with knockup immunities, such as agni dash, heim 2. theyll just walk through you
2) Ranged cc, agni bombs, ullr axe that can cancel your 1 and 2 easily.
Surprisingly, not jing wei. while she can dash your jump, if you 2 instantly theyll normally dash straight into it and die.
If youre curious about level 8 on the levelling chart, i skip that level and level the 1 and the 4 at level 9. theres no way of showing that on the level chart sadly.
As for selling boots, i generally go for masamune or arondight, depending on what im feeling. keeps some movespeed you lose from selling talaria, gives some damage, and a useful passive.
one of the robes if youre getting bursted, and heartseeker if youre massively ahead.
