Mightiest of the Aesir, warrior and king, the All-Father is a doomed God.
It seems strange to imagine a God concerned with his fate, but Odin regularly consults the volva, the seers in the North. They speak of a final war, Ragnarok, when the mightiest Gods are slain and the world is consumed by the sea. For this day, Odin constantly prepares.
The All-Father can trace his lineage to the evil Frost Giant, Ymir, whom he slew with the aid of his two brothers, Vili and Ve, and with his remains forged the world. Atop Asgard, where Odin presides, he is known as the bringer of war, a sage of wisdom, and the keeper of souls slain in battle.
As a warrior, Odin rides his eight legged steed, Sleipnir, and wields the mighty spear Gungnir. Accompanying him are two wolves and his trusted ravens, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory), who fly around Midgard and return to Odin with all they see and hear.
As a Sage, Odin travels disguised as a simple wanderer, seeking wisdom. His thirst for knowledge has come at great personal cost, having been hanged from the branches of Yggdrasil, the world tree, for nine days and nights and sacrificed one of his eyes to the Well of Wisdom.
As keeper of souls, Odin welcomes slain warriors to his mighty hall of Valhalla on the agreement they will aid him to Ragnarok. Favored female warriors become his elite Valkyrie that usher those worthy of entry to Valhalla.
It is in preparation for the final days of Ragnarok he does all this. For the seers claim his death will come at the fangs of the great wolf Fenrir, and like anyone, Odin seeks to change his fate. Yet, never once have the volva been mistaken.

Welcome to my first guide!!! It will be on Odin, THE ALL FATHER!!!
Odin is an AMAZING DUELIST, better even so than some fighters if you build correctly.
Odin is by far my favorite tank to play. Every time I play him I end up with atleast 5 more kills over deaths and 10+ assists. My best game with him so far has been a 20/7/13 game. Mostly due to my build and the fact that this is a new game people are still buying items without really thinking about who is fed on the other side and how to counter them.
If you want to be a successful Odin player, you must first understand the reason for my build and purchase order.
Obviously we are gonna start with Reinforced Boots and
x3.
The Reinforced Boots will give you that early protection that you need vs the melee/ranged AD. The 3 Healing Potion are just a given because you will get Reinforced Boots to the second level.
So you went in lane and hopefully you got some early kills or just a good early lane phase! So what should be my next purchase?
Well ask your self this. Who in my lane is fed, and who in the other lanes is fed?
Regardless, Odin's Gungnir's Might gives him a passive increase to his armor!
However, I still recommend building an
simply because at the moment you purchase the first level of Voidblade you will have well over 120 physical protection!
This will put you over your enemies in your lane because you will have the armor to be able to trade and tank both minions and enemy God's and still come out on top both in damage and health.
Your third item will be a
. It gives you Attack Damage, Attack Speed, Health and a 30% chance when attacking enemy God's to strike them for 10% of their max health as magic damage. It is a great item that stacks well with Odin's Odin's Shout.
Fourthly,
will be a great item to have because at this point team fights will be underway and having your melee attacks slow will be just great for your team to be able to stay on top of them. However, if you are following my sustain/dmg purchase order you will want
because Odin's 3, Gungnir's Might already applies an aoe slow to whoever attacks them. Deathbringer by itself is just a great item for dmg for its attack dmg, crit chance and passive increase to crit damage.
Your 5th item will be your sustain item. If you followed Frostbound Hammer purchase order than you will want to grab
mainly because since Frostbound Hammer gives you hp, the passive on Ankh of the Golem will increase your attack damage by 1.5% of your total hp. So it not only gives you sustain, attack speed and +300 health, you are now going to benefit off of Qin's Blades, Frostbound Hammer and Ankh of the Golem's + hp to GIVE YOU EVEN MORE DAMAGE!!!
If you went along with the dmg purchase order, your 5th item will be
it will give you sustain, attack speed and health but will also transfer that buff to your team mates buffing their attack speed and life steal by 10% each.
The 6th and final item.
In the slow sustain portion we are going to add even more hp to give that Ankh of the Golem more + attack damage off of its passive with Magi's Blessing. It will grant you +50 magic protection which would be more than enough at this point. It will also grant you a Unique passive ability that will block a single spell/ability with a minute cool down. That by itself will sometimes be game changer when the cool down comes off right as an enemy ultimate bears down on you.
Finally, if you followed the sustain/dmg purchase order you want to grab
last. +25 hp/5, +10 mp/5 and it regenerates 0.4% of your total hp per second? That there is boss, you can arguably use Stone of Gaia in the sustain/slow purchase order as well as you will have more hp there making that .4% per second that much better but it is honestly up to your own preference.
In now way do you have to purchase each item in that exact order, and I am in now way saying you have to finish each one before moving on to the next item!!!
Be flexible, counter build and build carefully.
Maxing
first is my favorite, as it gives you an aoe slow, dmg and a passive increase to your physical protection. Odin has that advantage as he doesn't have to build as much of an armor heavy build because of that one ability.
Your seond to max will be your lunge/leap,
. Lower the cool down more use you will have from it, in early laning phase you wont have much of a problem in lane because the one use of Lunge can keep you in the fight, or out of it if you are in danger or getting ganked.
lastly
will be your final max, putting 1 point in early isn't bad though, early game in your lane is mostly melee attacks so the more you attack the better.
Finally, His ultimate
is a great ultimate. It gives you more physical protection than you could ever want during the duration and also makes you immune to any kind of CC!!! Also, if used correctly it can mean the difference between turning a 3v2 into a 2v1 or 2v2 in your favor, or trapping enemy God's long enough to allow your teammates to escape/get the kills. His ultimate has so many uses.
For Example, in the early game if you can beat your enemy to lvl 5 and giving you the ulti first, you can trap him in your ultimate ALONG with your friendly minions to REALLY GIVE YOU THE ADVANTAGE. Just simple things like that can lead you to lane dominance.
For this item build and your role as a tank/dmg dealer, i recommend the following two ability items.
Sprint and
Sprint will give you that advantage in a chase especially with your Gungnir's Might, they will not get away, even better is when its on cool down, you will have +10% movement speed.
Creeping Curse is a good one to have as well because when Sprint is on cool down, you can use this to keep the entire enemy near you also when this item is on cool down, enemy units near you are slowed by 10%!!!
These two ability items work well together, if you have both on Cool Down it pretty much gives you a + 20% movement speed advantage over your enemy.
There are many ways to build Odin, and finding what build works best for you and what build is best to counter the enemy team is an ever changing system especially when the game is still in closed beta. Not to worry though, as the game progresses I will surely keep this guide up to date by also adding some videos of me playing [[Odin].
