Poseidon is a very damaging mage/carry in the late game who has become one of my favorite gods. With the right team, Poseidon can be the best character when it comes to killing the titan. Poseidon will one-shot people with his combo and can easily win team fights by himself.
Maybe the second best part of Poseidon is the fact that he can be played in so many ways. He can go pen, attack speed, basic attacks, lifesteal, or cooldown and still be successful. He will gain a lot of damage from items as the game goes on, so don't expect one-shots early game.
Tidal Surge- This ability is a great damage dealer, usually used after the whirlpool or the ultimate, I usually level it 2nd.
Trident- A great ability for boxing and chasing enemies low on health and the easiest way to build up the passive, I usually level it last.
Whirlpool- A very high damage ability used to set up the combos, great for crowd control especially with Gem of Iso, this and the ultimate are the first things I upgrade.
Release the Kraken- This is where the big punch comes from. This ability needs to be leveled as much as possible and used after the whirlpool if possible to prevent escapes.

In whole, Poseidon is a top tier mage in joust in the right hands. He will destroy anyone who doesn't have protections or sanctuary. Just his 1 and 3 can kill a squishy, and with great cooldowns will destroy multiple people in very little time. You will have to be careful in your playstyle because he is so squishy. Early game you will have to pick and choose when to attack. As long as you don't over-commit, you will be fine.
