Pros:
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

Welcome to SMITE and SMITEFire. Okay, take a look back at the section in question.
The names and symbols on the left refer to the standard abilities (1, 2, 3) and ultimate ability (4) that are numbered as such on the right (in the white boxes).
The blue boxes with white numbers indicate the order in which the guide-maker suggests leveling the abilities. Depending on the mode you play, you may start at level 1 (Conquest), level 3 (Joust, Siege, Clash, Arena), or level 5 (Assault).
Say you're playing the Conquest mode. The first number is for Whirlpool. This means that, if you follow this guide, you should level this ability first. When you reach level 2, you should level Trident, etc., all the way to level 20.

It's not fully updated, but it's still got plenty of information that is relevant.
Hope this helps!
