Without the sun, there would be no light, no warmth, no life. Without Ra, there would be no sun.
Ra is a guardian, the keeper of Ma'at - order and truth, and master of the sun. Each day he sails across the sky in a golden ship, and each night traverses the underworld, bringing light and warmth to the dead beneath the horizon. For those in the scorched South, Ra was the first God, creator of earth and sky and father to all other Gods.
But Ra's time is fading like a twilight sky. His descendants have grown in power and prominence and seek to replace him as the figure of authority. His own granddaughter, Isis, cleverly poisoned him by secretly summoning a viper under his feet. When he stepped on it, the serpent's venomous bite poisoned him. Isis promised to heal Ra if he revealed to her his True Name. At first, he refused, for knowledge of his True Name would give Isis unparalleled power over him, but as the pain mounted, Ra was forced to relent. Isis kept her word and Ra was healed, though the cost may have been to high.
Light can heal, but light can also burn, and the great protector is showing signs of wrath not seen since mankind's insolence. In that rare moment of anger, Ra sent his daughter, Hathor, in the form of a lion, to devour the people. However, he ended her bloody feeding before she consumed all mankind. This time, his burning gaze is set on the other Gods. When his wrath finally cools, nothing may be left but ashes.
Ra is a squishy mage that shouldn't be in the front lines. He has good poke with 1, damage and slow cc on close quarter enemies with his 2, heals with his 3, and some major damage with his 4. I play him towards the back lines and play conservative while poking people the whole time. I can't tell you how many times I've poked people to the point of having to recall and then i use my 4 to snipe them while they are recalling. It has some major range. Ra is definitely a supporting type mage that is great for team fights. He has excellent wave clear with his 1 and 3 to make stacking very easy. Try not to get too ambishous if you are by yourself as he has no real escape. That is why active items that help with escaping or shielding from damage are preferable. Don't waste money and an item slot with meditation. By some mana pots in the beginning to help. By the end you will have so much mana sustain that you won't need meditation, but would most likely rather have a better active. Wait for people to make mistakes, don't make them yourself. Also don't forget about your passive, if you find yourself in a tight spot and need some extra speed, spam your moves and get that speed boost for 10s.
This is my first smite build that I have created. I decided to make it because I have had good success with it in conquest, joust, siege, and clash. I don't play much arena or assault. This build won't work in assault anyways, because two of the items are stacking items. The reason I like playing with Ra is because it is quite rewarding to get those snipes on people and that is what this build is all about. Getting a ton of power into the ultimate and getting it often. With this 30% cooldown reduction on a regularly 50s cooldown, at max level you get your ultimate every 35s. That is crazy! And let me tell you, it hits hard! at max level you have a base of 700md plus 100% of your magic power, which for this build is 789 at full stacks. That means your ultimate is hitting for 1489 damage. not to mention if you have any jungle buffs or consumable buffs activated. You can successfully snipe opposing mages that are at 3/4 health. My strategy is to poke them with your moves to get them down a little and then snipe them out. Ra is one of the most rewarding and fun God's that I've played. Let me know if you have any questions or think something could be better. I know there are other items that are good with Ra as well. This build is missing both penetration and lifesteal. I have other builds that include these, but my builds are more situational. I like to try to counter what the other team is doing. This is a great starting point if you're thinking about playing Ra.
