Beginning of Game

You're going to start the game with Vampiric Shroud, Bumba's Mask, 2 Health Potions, 2 Mana Potions, and level your 3 (whirlpool). Your goal is going to be to get as much solo farm as possible in the game to get ahead. what you want to do is start in your lane and clear the first wave as fast as possible. After that you will want to go to the mid harpies (left if on order side, right if on chaos side). Once you clear th harpies you want to get back to lane to clear the second wave. After you clear that wave you will want to go take your red buff. you will most likely want to use 2 abilities to clear it quickly. After you have your red buff you want to go back to lane to clear your wave. From this point on you will want to try to clear as many of the mid harpy camps as possible. You will also want to back and buy your first item and potions. Health Potions will be very helpful throughout the game. It will also be beneficial to get a Chalice of the Oracle in the early game.

Main Build

Your first item will be Book of Thoth. You want this as soon as possible. It's a very strong item and it's very good on Poseidon. He can be somewhat Mana hungry so getting a ton of Mana and Mp5 early on is ideal. This item will also give you a lot of Power that will get higher with the more Mana you have. Your second item is going to be Shoes of the Magi for the Power and 10 Penetration. Your third item will be Gem of Isolation. This is a very powerful item on Poseidon. His whirlpool already has a slow, so the slow from Gem of Isolation makes it take a long time for enemy gods to get out of it. You will also deal more damage to minions because they will be stuck in it for a longer period of time. Your fourth item will be Rod of Tahuti. The Mp5 from this item is crazy, but you're mostly getting it for the huge power spike. Your fifth item will be Pythagorem's Piece. This item is broken. It is extremely powerful and is now viable in almost any mid mage build. It gives you Cooldown Reduction, Lifesteal, Power, Mana (which Book of Thoth will convert into even more power), and it gives a Power and Lifesteal buff to you and all nearby allies. Your last item will be Soul Reaver. This gives you power and Mana (which Book of Thoth will convert into even more power), and a passive ability that deals true (unmitigated) damage. This build will give you roughly 700 Power, as well as 10 Penetration, 10% Cooldown Reduction, 12% Lifesteal, roughly 1600 Mana, and 58 Mwp5.

I'm still testing this build and will make adjustments if i find it necessary.

Alternative Items

Divine Ruin: Strong anti-heal item, i recommend for assault or when going against gods/teams with a lot of healing.

Stone of Fal: Not a great item, but useful if you're against high burst mages or mages with high damage ults i.e. Ra, Thoth, Kukulkan, Vulcan.

Shoes of Focus: Good for a build based on lower power and high cdr.

Chronos Pendant: Very strong item, essential in a cdr based build.

Dynasty Plate Helm: Strong first item when laning against a physical god or heavily physical team.

Telkhines Ring: Strong item for taking towers/split pushing, strong Attack Speed option for Poseidon

Sands of Time: Good starter item for most mid mages, especially Mana hungry ones. I prefer the sustain from Vampiric shroud on Poseidon though.
