This is a build only, not a guide.
Ah Puch is a great mage, especially in team fights and in this case - arena. When I play him, I almost always go for a lot of cooldown, gem of isolation, spear of magus, rod of tahuti and some form of lifesteal. Lifesteal isn't everyone's choice but I like it for the sustain during his ult and waveclear. I'd say it is optional for lifesteal - just personal preferance really. You just need to play cautiously with him as you can be very quicky caught out of position and have no escapes. Don't be too aggressive, just choose your moment to strike wisely.

Pros
+Great burst potential
+Biggest Area of Effect in the game
+Has good utility with a slow and a stun
+Can heal off minions to sustain for a long time
Cons
-Has no escape
-Very squishy
-Relies on minions (which can be destroyed) for damage
-Usually the first target for the enemy team to pick on
As can be seen in the video, Ah Puch can own the team fight aswell as 1v1, however if you slip up he is very quickly burst down. If you have a good team around you, you should be quite a force to be reckoned with. Make sure you level your 1 until you get two minions from it, then change over to level your 2 to max. The more minions you have, the greater damage output you'll have.
As mentioned, you have no escape (other than relics), so your best item to help you escape is gem of isolation. That with your 1 and your ult is the most annoying slow to deal with, it's like running through waist-deep porridge. This should allow you time to run away!
I hope you have fun with this build, I always do. Feel free to adjust it to suit your enemy and your situation. This is just an example I have found works for me. Enjoy!

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

I agree with all of these items- as offensive choices. It would be worth it to also have defensive and maybe a list of what against who depending on who's picking on you (Sylla hates onni hunter, hard cc damage mitigation from spirit robe will make Ymir mad, ext.) Even if it is just a build, some defensive options would be nice.
Thanks, you make a fair point and not in a mean way which is unusual. I hadn't really considered defence as I rarely build it on him. You're constructive criticism is appreciated.
