Introduction

2-20-15: Hey everyone, I will be updating this guide as soon as I can with BBCoding in the items section especially. So please be patient, also with the season two update I'm still tinkering with the build and reworked items. I'll probably update the items soon as well. As it stands this build is still viable in casual play at the very least.

Hello, my name is Greenicey, and welcome to my very first guide ever written. I hope you find this helpful and informative in some way. Please be aware that this is the first time I've written a guide like this and this guide and build are subject to change. I welcome any constructive criticism as to how I could improve this guide. So without further ado I present to you my build for Chang'e, Faerie Of The Moon.

Summary

This will be an overview of Chang'e as a support character. As with many gods she can be played a variety of ways, all of which are effective. However for this I am focusing solely on playing Chang'e in the duo lane with an ADC. As with any mage support, make sure that you are not playing aggressively, since Chang'e is able to dish out some considerable damage and has decent lane clear. She is also rather mana hungry, so use your abilities wisely.

Support wise Chang'e has an AoE heal with her 3, which also reduces the healing of any enemies nearby. Her ultimate is one of the best stuns in the game, if lined up correctly this ability is an amazing setup for multiple kills, and is perfect in a teamfight She has great sustainability with her heal, and low cooldowns across many of her abilities.

Pros / Cons

Pros
Amazing Sustainability
Healing Potential
Low Cooldowns
Can stun multiple enemies

Cons
Heal not as effective as others
Mana Hungry
Low Defense

Skills

Passive: Jade Rabbit
Chang'e can purchase or sell items from anywhere and her Jade Rabbit companion will fetch them. When the rabbit reaches the store then returns, the transaction completes. Only one item can be purchased or sold in this way at a time. Chang'e also gains +25% movement speed with no backpedal penalty when using her dances.

This is a rather unusual passive. It does allow you too stay in lane for a longer period of time, since instead of teleporting back you can send the rabbit. However the down side is that it takes a ridiculously long time, and you can only buy one item. If you happen to teleport back to base while the rabbit is out the item will automatically appear in your inventory. Now the 25% movement speed and no backpedal while using her dances is pretty good, allowing you to easily escape via your 2 and/or heal yourself while not have to turn and run away from the action, leaving you vulnerable. This allows to be a bit more mobile than other mages, and especially support ones.
1st ability: Crescent Moon
Chang'e flings a crescent moon in an arc, dealing damage to all enemies in its path.
This is Chang'es main damage ability. As a support player however it is not a very good idea to use this to clear minion waves, You lane partner will not appreciate it. Use it to poke gods who are overextending during the first few minutes of the game. This ability has an extremely low cooldown, so it is a quick and easy way to dish out some decent damage in a team fight.
2nd ability: Moonlit Waltz
Chang'e performs an evasive spin dance, unable to be hit during the action. For each tick of damage from an ability that was avoided, Chang'e restores mana to herself and her allies.
Despite having a longer cooldown than her other abilities, this is an excellent escape move. Consider it your "Oh ****!!!" button, it allows you to gracefully move out of a dangerous incoming ability, or cc. If timed correctly you can avoid practically everything. A feature that not a lot people seem to talk about is the mana restore this ability has. It's not all that great really, it doesn't restore very much, but it's nice to know it's there.
3rd ability: Moonflower Dance
Chang'e twirls, scattering flowers around her, and healing herself and all nearby allies and damaging nearby enemies. Moonflower Dance also reduces the healing of all nearby enemies.
This is your healing ability, and while it doesn't heal for very much at first, in the long run it is an excellent support ability. In a teamfight you can heal your allies while dealing damage to foes and reducing their own healing. (Pro tip: This makes her very effective against other healers.) Since it also affects her, this makes Chang'e much more sustainable than a lot of other mages.
Ultimate: Waxing Moon
Chang'e's Waxing Moon dance is captivating, with this dance dealing damage and stunning enemies in front of her. Each subsequent god that is stunned is stunned for longer than the previous one.
Chang'es ultimate is one of the best stuns in the game for this reason. Against multiple enemies, Chang'e can not only stun them all, but stun them for a ridiculously long time potentially. Against one enemy it's a decent 1s stun that also deals a fair bit of damage. This ability can easily turn the tide of a teamfight in your favor, and making Chang'e an excellent addition to any team.

Items

Updated 2-16-15

As a support, you're going to want to build Chang'e a bit more tanky than you would a typical mage. However, you're still going to want to build magical power since your heal is tied to it. Please note that this item build is just a general build, I use this build and it works for me, but if you have something you wish to change feel free. Any constructive criticism as to how I can better it are also much appreciated. Here are some items that really are essential to this playstyle.
Shoes of Focus
As with nearly all mage builds, I like to start off with shoes. Since Chang'e already has some insanely low cooldowns, I can see why Shoes of the Magi would be tempting instead, but this isn't a damage build. Not at first at least. You're going to want some damage and maybe some penetration later, but to start off I recommend Focus so you can use your heal and escape quicker (especially your escape.)
Rod of Asclepius
So for this, not only does it give some nice power, health, and even movement speed (nice!) the aura is what makes this a great support item. Chang'es heal compared to Ra and Hel is a bit on the weaker side, with it's heal reduction making up for that, so increasing it by 15% is a good thing :). Plus it increases health regen as well, though you might not immediately notice those effects. The health it gives you also gives you a bit more survivability.

What you pick up for a defensive item will vary depending on what you like, and who you're playing against. I don't particularly like ethereal staff, but for this build it would work. Again if you're up against a lot of magical I would go with either void stone or Stone of Gaia, and Dynasty Plate Helm for Physical. Armored Cloak is also good if you want it.

Again actives will depend on what you're up against. Typically I never recommend Meditation or Salvation, but since Chang'e can be a bit TOO mana hungry, you might want to pick it up the first few times you play until you get the hang of managing her mana without a blue buff. Definitely pick up beads if you're going up against a support with a lot of CC.
