I love this build because it makes Apollo strong all the way through. Strong early, strong mid, unstoppable late.
Begin with two ranks in Boots and 3 Health Potions. This will use up all of your starting money and sustain up to level 5-7. Try to stay out fighting as long as you can, but eventually when your low on health or pushed up to their tower (and you have a decent amount of gold) go back to base.
Get your 3rd rank of Boots and start building your Gloves. With Gloves, you will only need to go back to base to buy more items. Farm waves/camps to regen health and do blue buff camp for mana. Once Gloves are finished I wait until I have enough gold to complete an item before I go back to get it.
Qin's Blades and Executioner for Attack Power and Attack Speed. Also, their passives are pretty sweet. Qin's takes away an extra 2.5% of the enemy's health on each basic attack, which you are firing off quickly. Executioner's reduces their physical protection with each attack you land, making the next one hurt that much more.
Last two items are the icing on the cake. Eye of Retaliation gives lots of Attack Power and the extra lifesteal means that you can solo Gold Fury and Fire Giant (though always quicker with a team, but you will tank it). If you can get the Deathbringer then it is game over, that much more Attack Power and the crits... oh sweet mother!
You can go side lane or mid. Just let your side partner know when your leaving to jungle and gank. Play carefully and you will be 11-0-4 (ish) and play recklessly and you will still come out 7-4-5 (ish). Apollo is simply GREAT!
Start out with a strong presence in lane (always use your 1 to hit mobs but also the enemy), then once you complete your gloves you can start roaming and jungling. Focus on your 1, 2 as your secondary priority. I primarily use my 3 and 4 as escapes, so I get 1 point in them and then ignore them until 1 and 2 are maxed. A great way to initiate is to 3 through the minions (get your stacks up) and open fire on the enemy. I like to auto-attack first and then use my 1 to secure the kill.
Once your gloves are finished your focus should be on getting as much farm as possible: jungling and clearing lanes. The speed buff is a HUGE bonus, but get them all (even the weak gold). Help out when you can, use your 4 to swoop in and gank when your team has the advantage. Be selfish when your team is clearly losing, no need for you to dive in and die as well. Take this oppertunity to go to an unoccupied lane and clear out minion waves and attack their tower (be ready to retreat when they all come after you though).
Once Qin's Blades are done you should be able to knock down Towers and Pheonixs very quickly solo (with minions). From here on out you will be steamrolling to an easy victory. Once you have your Eye of Retaliation you can easily solo the Gold Fury and Fire Giant. Have never gotten the Deathbringer finished, enemy team always surrenders or we kill the Minotaur :(
Always try to have 2 health potions at all times. Later you can hit minions to regain health, but pots boost you up that much faster. Don't bother with mana pots, get the blue buff instead.
Your goal is to get as much FARM as possible (getting last hits does make a difference). You want to be way ahead of everyone in level. When I hit level 20, the enemy (and my teammates) are usually around level 16. HUGE ADVANTAGE.
If you are low on health and under pressure, escape and go back to base (even 4 if you have to). I rather not die. Going back to base and getting back in the fight is always quicker than having to wait for respawn.
Your 1 is your nuke. Start camps with auto-attacks and use your 1 once you have all 3 lined up. Use it early game to push the enemy back or kill them (don't get too greedy early on). If you can force your foe to go back to base while you are still in lane, you will get ahead in level. Also use it to farm, hit a line of advancing minions with it and then clear out the stragglers with auto attacks (go for archers first, then melee).
Use your 2 in team fights and focus on the squishies/high damage dealers. Always leave the enemy tanks for last or ignore them. 2 is also good for stopping the enemy from running away and getting better position, or making sure you hit with your 1.
Your 3 is your initiate when you have the advantage and need to close the gap. If you get the jump on them, save your 3 for chasing them. It is also your escape when it's time to get out. I pick up Purification Beads after I finish my Gloves, as you can't use your 3 when crippled. Beads remove the effect and then you can slide you way out of there.
Pick up Sprint later on, use it to move around quickly or escape. Or ignore it. Up to you.
Your super move, 4, is great for coming to the rescue, or escaping from 1v4 ganks (I love pushing lanes solo, which brings the entire enemy team on me). You will take damage while summoning your steed, so use it early.
I sometime get flack from teammates, "WTF Apollo! Why no help in team fight!" Of course they are saying this as one or two of them choose to initiate bad fights versus the entire other team and get wiped. While, at the same time, I am pushing through two towers and take down a pheonix all by myself. Seriously, this happens all the time. You will win the game for your team by going into the empty lanes and bum rushing their towers. Also you will level up super fast by wiping out wave after wave of minions. Once you're level 20, you will come into those team fights and destroy because you out level everyone so much. Think of the War, not just the immediate Battle.
