Introduction

ULLR
THE GLORIOUS ONE

Hello one and all. Welcome to my guide on Ullr, the Glorious One. Now, with Season 2's updates to the meta, Ullr has crawled from his somewhere in-between good and bad space to being possibly the best ADC in the meta. When played properly, there is no stopping an Ullr. His escape is absurd, his engage, absurd. There is a lot going for him. I'm going to try to cover as much as I can about our happily bearded friend, and hopefully teach you how to mercilessly slaughter every enemy in the battlefield. Enjoy the guide, and happy hunting.

Pros / Cons

~PROS~
- High Movement Speed -

- Great Escape -

- Safe / Long-Range Poke -

- Wave Clear -

~CONS~

- Killed by Cripples -

- Mana Guzzling -

- Countered by CC in Lane -

Skills

This passive is one of those that many take for granted. It can go unnoticed and unused to those who do not value it. Though, I cannot tell you how many times unloading all my abilities in one stance to reduce the cooldowns in another has actually saved my life. Not only is it clever to damage enemies, but it can secure a kill or an escape. If you learn this passive, you're on the right track. But by learned, I don't mean wildly throwing abilities for no reason so you can Invigorate again. I mean actually usefully using it, as in damaging an enemy as much as possible in bow stance for the Thrown Axe CDR, which will in turn secure a kill more than likely. For an example of his passive, watch the video below.

Welcome to the center of the cake. Not exactly the icing, but satisfying none the less! These two abilities are going to be an important part to you. The Thrown Axe is an easy setup for combos, which will be explained further down. The Bladed Arrow is your wave clear, and provides sufficient poke if aimed properly. In short, whether you can hit these two abilities or not can make or break your Ullr game. Practice those axe snipes folks.

And here is one of the most underestimated abilities I've ever seen. So many people do not use these properly. Invigorate is most often used to leave fights or fountain, and Expose Weakness is so rarely used I almost want to vomit. Expose Weakness can give you a total of 50 physical power to add to your shots. This gives lots of room for big crits and big damage. Murder someone with it, PLEASE. Invigorate gives you heavy chase potential, as well as good initiate without wasting your leap. Please learn these. They are actually very important to success.

And the icing is here! These two abilities are your life. Without them, you are at a moderate disadvantage. Your Hail of Arrows can be used to finish off waves, steal objectives or buffs, or even secure kills over walls(insert Barraccudda Ullr snipe below <3). Glory Bound can save you or secure you a kill, as it's damage is decent. A list of areas you can use Glory Bound to get over will be shown further down. Hitting Hail of Arrows is essential to good Ullr play. These will make you look foolish or... really, REALLY cool.

(Content Belongs to BaRRaCCuDDa)

These two abilities, again, are underestimated. The lifesteal in the axe stance and the attack speed in bow form are so good, honestly. The lifesteal can be a life-saver, and the attack speed can be a life ender. And also, this ability is going to be everything to you, so get ready to be pressing 4 a lot.

Ability Usage

As with most stance-change gods, there are a lot of combos you can pull off. These combos are commonly used, and can secure a kill as well as save your sorry behind any time you jump into something stupid. Please, pay close attention to these. Enjoy.

Glory Bound Jump Spots

The image above shows all the spots you can leap over using Glory Bound. These are all the ones I commonly use, and I may have missed a very tiny amount. Hopefully these can save you.

In Lane Advantages / Disadvantages

SUPPORTS

Say hello to your worst nightmare! Athena in lane will be a big problem to you without beads. While you do have decent escape, she can taunt you for two whole seconds, giving way for an ADC to shred your HP while her Shield Wall does the rest! The way to counter this is to play safe, smart, and BUY

My gods, your life must be AWFUL. Ymir is a problem for a similar reason to Athena, only exception being his freeze lasts half a second longer! So, not only is it easier setup, but he does more damage than Athena, and if he is to bait your Glory Bound, then you have no choice but to face the wall of ice he just threw in front of your face. Invigorate can only carry you so far. Again, to counter this, play safe and smart, farm passively until you can afford beads. And watch for Greater Blink on Ymir. He can and will kill you if you are unprepared. Remember, Glory Bound is not CC, so it is common for Ymir's to freeze you mid-jump.

At what point do we just throw in the towel? Another big problem here, his cripples can actually screw you in lane. Easy. You get crippled, an ADC moves in, and you are likely dead. These Shackles are no joke. They will take your life and your kids and your wife and stuff them all in a basement full of rabid kittens. Do NOT take Ares as a joke. They WILL ruin your life. To counter him in lane, buy beads as early as possible, play passively, and RUN LIKE HELL when you get chained. An easy way to get chains off is to Thrown Axe the Ares and Invigorate in the other direction.

Finally! A break! Geb isn't too hard to deal with in lane, honestly. If he tries to Roll Out after you, simply Thrown Axe him in the face. If he tries to ult you Glory Bound away. He can save ADC's from your stun, but that isn't a huge issue. Simply bait out his shield before initiating on the ADC and you will be fine. Against a Geb, aggressive play is very common. Clear waves, push, and conquer. Do not over-extend though, because at the end of the day, if that Geb hits you with an ult you can be dropped on by Thor, Thanatos, Apollo or hit by Agni ults, Vulcan ults, Hou Yi ult-.... You get the point.

Okay, but seriously, Ullr is a fairly hard counter to Fenrir. During his Brutalize use your Thrown Axe to stun him out of it. DO NOT leap away. If you do this, you will be golden. Fenrir = EZ Money

ADCs

This nerd is not all that hard to beat. He is one of the best ADC's besides you, so play careful around him. He can't outclear you, and he can't out box you early. Play it safe and be smart, poke him down while you can in lane, and engage when he's weak. If he dashes at you, either Invigorate away or Glory Bound to clear distance. Oh, and get good at stopping on that last tick of Darkest Nights. But at the end of the day, you are what counters this slaughterhouse, so don't let me down.

While Cupid can provide problems (*cough* *cough*), he is fairly easy to fight if you play smart. If he Flutters at you, simply Thrown Axe stun him out of it. Poke him in lane and try to force him home before he can do the same to you. His early game is a terror, so be careful, especially if he has an aggressive support helping him. Do not fall into Cupid baits. His ult + Heartbomb combo can at least half health you, if not finish you off. Buy Greater Purification or Improved Sprint to get out of his ultimate. Easy if played correctly, but hard if uninformed.

BUY. BEADS.
PLEASE.
Do not fall for Artemis baits, if she is low, her turn potential is insane. If you fall into a trap, expect half your HP or more to be gone if the Artemis is smart. Get beads. ASAP. Do not waste your leap or she will find you, ult you, and kill you. Play safe, poke her from a distance, and BUY. BEADS.

This is that instance in which you buy Greater Aegis. Being careful around him is good and smart. He can out clear you and probably poke you a bit harder than you can him early. He has a cripple with his three, which will give him free shots on you before you can leap away. With his ult, have your Greater Aegis ready. Especially if he is a good Rama. If he often misses his ults, don't worry about Aegis. But, do not Aegis until you honestly think an ult shot will kill you. Listen closely for his ult. To beat a Rama, play passive, poke him when you can, and just farm up. You should be able to take him once you can out clear him.

Junglers

Now, while most people will argue this, I am fond of buying Shield of the Underworld against a Bakasura. It can be argued that beads are better to leap away in his ult, but Shield will help you turn and kill him while he's in it, or make him back off. Pop it when he ults you, and he will either run or kill himself trying to kill you. Do not be afraid to fight him if you have it on and have a decent amount of HP. He will be taking multiple ticks of damage, likely shredding him. Also, Thrown Axe can be used to stun him out of his ult after the moment of CC immunity. Get good at timing that.

Conclusion

Welp, that's Ullr for you. I will be trying to update this guide with information and more content to keep it fresh and better with information. I know it might not be a lot right now but I do plan to come back and touch up on it. Enjoy, and never forget:

I updated it with new builds, as I realized that I actually only had one build here. Also, fixed the Ichaival early / Executioner thing so. Yay?

After Qin's nerf it's pretty bad on anyone but Baka. And Although Xbal can only be outboxed by Ullr, Xbal has a much better time in teamfights. Which is the one section your are missing.also, ichaival is usually sold late game and only bought for the early cheap power spike. Switch ichaival and Qin's for rage and db or even db and malice, Titans bane switch for exec

Overall, good guide though. Bbcoding is good and explanations are informative enough. Upvote

Very nice guide. Ullr will be insanely strong in this new meta.

I would however update your skill order. Your skill priority should be 1->3->4->2. Going back and forth between skills isn't the smartest idea.

Your video is private!

And lastly, to help out with the BB Coding, the Ullr icons you linked from the database no longer exist. Possibly because it was first added in as separate skills (and lower resolution). So if you want clearer icons, use both stances in the name. F.e. -

Good guide +1
The only thing I would suggest is not have the text colored, but that's a personal preference. Overall good guide on Ullr, decent explanation of match-ups.
Also, as a Diamond Artemis player, don't give away the secrets to countering me :)
I just love it when people try to chase me down because I have about half health and then they get a front row seat to a turn n' burn event XD.
