Introduction

Hello everyone!!! This is my first ever guide in Smite Fire and what a better way to start off one with aXbalanque Guide!!Xbalanque is one of my favourite Gods. He is a ranged physical carry who can dish out a lot of damage. To me he is a decent god to play with and can deal extreme amounts of damage especially early game. This is a guide for those who do not understand Xbalanque and I'm here to guide you on how you can play him. Note: you do not have to follow this guide if you wish to. Its a bit sad to say that Smite have not been giving Xbalanque good skins lately. I hope they will though. I must say that I am not the best of English speakers, so I might have grammatical errors here and there. With this said, Lets begin!

Pros And Cons

Pros

Can deal loads of damage
Immortal when fed
Decent Ganker
Great in team fights

Cons

Very squishy
Only have one primary escape
Mana hungry
Abilities cannot pass through everything

Skills

To be a good with Xbalanque, one must first know the skills that Xbalanque harness.

His passive is called Dead of Night. When Xbalanque gets a kill, he gains a stack which grants him 5 additional physical power which can be stacked up to 6 times. This is a very strong passive. Especially early game. When you get a kill, you get more physical power and can easily get another kill again. Therefore, Xbalanque is very good when he is fed.

His first ability is called Branching Bola . When Xbalanque toggles this ability, he deals additional damage. The bola then splits into 2 to hit targets behind him dealing 30% damage costing him mana per shot. This ability is the reason why Xbalanque is mana hungry. Every time you shoot a bola out while this ability is on, mana is consumed. The more you shoot, the less mana you have. This ability to me is a big no no. Even though it has the properties to deal additional damage, early game, your second and third ability deal more intensive damage than this ability. Therefore, only get this ability late game.

His second ability is called Poison Darts . Xbalanque fires 10 darts in front of him that poisons the enemy. It last for 3 seconds and the poison damages every .5 seconds. The darts will stop at the first enemy hit. This ability is the most damaging ability in the early game at level one. While you think that his third ability deals greater damage, while i was doing a detailed experiment on him, i found out that this ability deals more damage than his third ability even with the poison darts combo. Therefore, this ability is a must have when you are level one.

His third ability is called Rising Jaguar. Xbalanque dashes forward then jumps into the air while shooting darts at his ground target location. While in the air, he is able to move at his liking. Enemies damaged by poison darts take 30% additional damage. This is Xbalanque's most damaging ability mid game. This ability is also a great harassment especially with his Poison Darts combo. With this combo, you are able to get early game kills. Note that this is also Xbalanque's only primary escape. While you can deal loads of damage, once you use this ability, gankers can easily come in and get a free kill. Be cautious of your surroundings before using this combo. Another thing, this is not a jump ability, it is a dash. Therefore it cannot jump through walls.

His ultimate is called Darkest of Nights. Xbalanque shrouds enemies in darkness, limiting their view for 3 seconds. During this time. His basic attack range is increased by 40 feet and movement speed will also increase. At the end of the 3 seconds, enemies that are moving are stunned. This is a very very good ability. It is perfect at team fights and can save you and your allies when trying to escape. This ability should only be used to help team mates and yourself, secure a kill and to cause chaos at the beginning of team fights. Do note that the stun this ability have can be very easily avoided. A skilled player would know that if you were to stop moving at the very last second, you are able to avoid the stun. Therefore, this ability is not the best for escaping. However, it is great for team fights. Use this ability at the very beginning of team fights so that your team can do a quick reposition and to attack while the enemy is blinded. The chaos is provides can secure easy kills and force the enemy team to disengage. The reason why you should not max out your ultimate first is because it only increases your movement speed as you level it up. Therefore, this is not entirely a good ability to max out first.

Items

For a start, I always start out with the Tier 2 Tabi Boots with 1 health potion and 2 mana potions. The reason why i only get 1 health potion is because you will need to use the combos a lot to secure kills, therefore the mana potions are nescassary. This item is the basic need for all physical carries or assassins. It gives you the necessary movement, attack speed, critical chance rate and the physical power all physical damage dealers need. But after this stage, you face a choice on the Warrior Tabi or the Ninja Tabi. I recommend the Warrior Tabi. Even though the price is higher, it has the penetration needed to face tanky gods. The Tabi Boots have critical chances already therefore there is no reason for more.

Next, it is time to get some lifesteal items to sustain the lane. Before going off, get the highest Tier of Devourer's Gloves and 1 health potion and mana potion. Can't get both and can only afford 1 potion? Get the mana potion. This item give Xbalanque the lifesteal he needs in the lane to sustain. Whats more is that each minion or jungle creep killed will allow him to get a stack of Devourer's Gloves which grants him .5 Physical Power and .25% Physical Lifesteal. It can stack up to 40 times. Please note that this item will not stack when you kill an enemy god.

Next item on the list, The Executioner. This item allow Xbalanque to have more physical power, attack speed and penetration. With this item, you are able to take tanky gods more easily and with the attack speed, you can get more hits on the enemy god.

Next item, Rage. This item is very very good on Xbalanque. The item gives more physical power, attack speed and critical strike chance rates. With this, not only will you have the physical power, the attack speed of The Executioner combined with Rage will get you close to the speed of Fatalis. Not completely, but close. This item is the key point if you want to build critical strike chances. This item will confirm you a critical strike a lot of times. Therefore, this item is a must have.

The most important item in a physical damage dealer's build, Deathbringer. This item will give you a huge amount of physical power and a huge amount of critical strike chances. This with Rage will allow you to do a critical strike on almost every hit! Therefore, this item is a good choice for physical damage dealers.

Last but not the least, Jotunns Wrath. You might think this is a bad idea, but i did a research on all the penetration items and found out that this is the best item for penetration. The reason why there is a need for penetration it is because since it is the end game, you must defeat all the gods in the battlefield as well as tanks. Thus, this item will help you to get the deep hits on those tanky gods. I promise you, this item is the best physical penetration item i have tested.

Tips and Tricks

For Xbalanque, play passive only at level one. Once you reach level 2, hit those squishies with the combo. It should bring them down to half health. You should have taken some minion damage but not as much. The enemy will eventually use a healing potion to heal themselves up. Therefore, once you have cleared the minions and your combo is up, hit them with it once more and this time continue with the basic attacks, your laning partner should follow suit and eventually might secure a kill. If the enemy team is still alive but in tower range and you have decent amount of health, they should be somewhat close to dead. Do not hesitate to tower dive. Only tower dive if you hit your Poison Darts on them, if not you will not secure but give a kill. If the enemy team is dangerously close to dead then just use a Rising Jaguar and you will get a kill in no time.

If you have reached level 4, harass the enemy team again with the combo. After that, clear the minion wave. By then you should've reached level 5. Again when you have your combo up, dont waste time, activate your ultimate, your combo then some basic attacks should do the trick.

Some Gods can be really squishy early game, so go aggressive on them. Gods such as He Bo and Loki. Do some research on the Gods. If the Gods are below the health range of 470, go aggressive. Anyone above that should still be alive after 2 combos, therefore you must hit them with the best basic attack you got!

Late game, once you have your first rank of Branching Bola and you still have space for one more active, get Meditation Tier 1. This should allow you to further sustain but you will eventually have a long cooldown on Meditation and have to go back. But it allows you to sustain further.

Aegis Amulet and Purification Beads are for the annoying gods such as Ares. Be wary of these types of gods that is capable of doing a heavy damage combo. Therefore, these 2 active items are options to keep yourself safe.

If you are doing extremely well but cannot secure a kill, try getting Girdle of Might. This item will give you more physical power and can help secure many kills during the match.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading my guide, I hope you are having fun in smite. Hopefully i am able to see more skillful players in Xbalanque in the days to come. Smite on!!

I like this build. Agree with the items and lvl ups, but I'm interested in seeing if this gets updated as now the Janus release is coming. Affecting Rage and Devouers Gauntlets.

Hello. Branching Bola is just a simple mana wasting material. If u want to, mid game is also a good start for Branching Bola so that additional damage can be delt. Despite the fact that 50 damage is very little,I'd say that it is very valuable since many enemies can escape with literally 2 health bars left. Branching Bola can be used to secure kills mid and late game. I will not recommend thew removal of rage since crits can occur more often. Jotunns Raft is an item you CAN change to Titans bane...

I don't really play xbal, but IMO, leveling up branching bola early will be too dangerous because you will be super mana hungry and need to go back. IMO branching bola is not very useful for the damage but for the area ability

Why you no level up Branching Bola?

It gives really good early game damage, but falls off late game because 50 damage really isn't that much once you start critting 800s, and you can just get Mana Buff...

Also switch Jottuns and Rage in your build, you want the CDR before your build has every single item in it. Also add situationals, you might have to switch Rage for an item like Titan's Bane if the other team is really tanky.
