Basically, the common bruiser build goes as such.

In the solo lane, as much as I detest it, the first item is almost always Mystical Mark.

Lead that into Ninja Tabi or Warrior Tabi.

Followed by Voidblade.

Get a Bulwark or Hide of Leviathan for magic protection.

5th item starts to get situational, with a Frostbound Hammer or Witch Stone providing some way to stick to someone, or surviving better.

6th item becomes very situational, but I see a decent amount of people pick up a more power-oriented final item. Ankh is a decent choice here, Jotunn's Wrath provides CDR and penetration that's always nasty, some go straight for Titan's Bane (I don't agree with it, it doesn't help with anything but PURE damage, but whatever), and for others, a Transcendence will have been bought earlier in the build to finish it.

I personally pick up Jotunn's earlier, before Bulwark personally, but that's a common bruiser build. No real room for lifesteal (despite my guide specifically showing Eye of Retal as a nice item, back when Tyr was a ridiculous damage dealer that would benefit from oneshotting people at low health). Sais' isn't bad, but bruisers are usually physical casters - not auto attackers. Chaac is similar, he spams his abilities, and then attacks, but by that time the sais aren't usually making the different, and lifesteal items are outclassed due to a general lack of survivability. Hence why Soul Eater is usually my new preference if I have to go that way, and only if both jungler and ADC are physical, although luckily they usually are (Don't knock the apparently meta jungle He Bo, however.)

I never get bulwark. If I'm playing solo lane, I always start mystical mark, then get either a warrior tabi or heartseeker, finish off FotG, focused voidblade, hide of the leviathan, and tabi if I haven't gotten it already, then leave sixth item situational.

Sometimes I build differently depending on if I'm going up against a mage in solo lane or not though.

SmiteFire & Smite
