Hel shouldn't be build pure magic, but if she does, her heal will be quite a bit more than 300-400. It's 260 + 60% scaling, after all.

A lot of people seem to completely ignore how much cleanse (which has 0 MP scaling) affects teamfights, and therefore think that she needs to be built pure mage. A good example build for Hel is: Shoes of Focus, Breastplate of Valor, Focused Void Stone, Hide of Leviathan (bite me, it's an excellent item), Bancroft's Talon, and Rod of Tahuti. She'll have almost 500 magic power, and have the quality that a healer needs: sustain. Sure, she heals and bursts for an incredible amount if built as a mage, but she is gonna get focused down instantly. Building her hybrid gives her a cleanse and heal on 6.5 second cooldowns, as well as quite a bit of damage from her short-cooldown Repulse, Decay, and Restoration. With her speed buff restored, and with a proper build, she is actually quite hard to kill if you don't remain still.

I agree that her Cleanse (not Inspire, wrong spell :P) should have its early-rank duration increased, but just because it's hard to master doesn't mean it's not, hands down, one of the best skills in the game. But it's not hard to be preemptive with it; many skills typically have some signs before they go off. For instance, Athena will often shield wall before taunting, making it easy to cleanse. Believe it or not, Loki's ultimate can actually be easily preemptively cleansed; Loki will often toggle aimed strike before using his ultimate, so if you hear it go off while there is distance between you (or his target), tossing a cleanse will prevent the stun. There are a medley of other things that can be cleansed, preemptively or not, such as Bacchus's or Ares's ultimates.

Also, yes, I do love how OP she can be. Specifically, I love her cleanse and her burst. I'm worried that she won't be able to put out as much damage after her rework, in favor of her becoming a pure support.

they will probably make her more like tyr in terms of one of her first 3 abilities being stance change and a new ultimate

This would absolutely kill her for me. I love being able to constantly switch between stances, rotating through cooldowns while maneuvering around the battlefield.

That buiild you stated is assuming you're playing into the lategame. Most of the time you hit LV20, you may only have 3 items completed and are finishing up your fourth (five if you count Watcher's Gift as an item), unless you're doing really well and picked up some kills + lane farm. So no, you wouldn't quite be healing more than 300-400 until you've finished that Rod of Tahuti, and assuming those defensive items are what you're starting with first, your healing and damage will suck until you reach the very end of the game.

All I can really say is you're trying to defend a god that's clearly been broken by nerfs and subsequently crushed under the powercreep of the newer supports who can perform her role better. It doesn't matter if there are people who can use her very well, that's like saying there's people who are experts with Bastet: you can be great with her, she has things going for her, but at the end of the day, you cannot deny that she has serious flaws and needs help.
Waiting on a good new MOBA, please.

If you're not playing into lategame, then 300-400 heals are still quite helpful. Depending on how you're doing in midlane, you could always get both Shoes of Focus and Focused Void Stone before Breastplate of Valor. Don't get Chronos Pendant; 50 MP is not worth it, and you already have passive MP5 + BoV gives extra mana anyways. You wouldn't be starting with pure defensive items, and your waveclear (although unsafe due to Repulse's low range + half CD's) and therefore damage/healing will be quite impressive. If you get Bancroft's Talon before Hide of Leviathan (bite me, it's an excellent item), then you'd hardly be hitting/healing for a low amount.

I'm not trying to say that Hel's not broken or shouldn't get a rework; I'm saying that I personally don't want her to be reworked, because I've put a lot of time into her and love her current kit.

So I've recently gotten into Smite, tried out their reddit thing and I personally hate Reddit. Like loathe it, so I was excited when I saw this wonderous forum attached to MOBAFire which was attached to Smitefire. I didn't even know Smitefire existed! Yaaaayyyy!!!!

I recently acquired Hel, and I enjoy her but I'm noticing something unusual in that she doesn't seem overtly popular. Tiermonster lists her as the 38th most popular champion(Out of 40), and her win lose ratio isn't really astounding(More saddening compared to Chang'e).

Is this because she's simply bad or due to her complex, weird nature? Or the lack of obvious cleavage....that's probably it.

Here is what happened.

She was "fine". She was powerful but hard to use properly. So you didn't see many powerful hels but when you did they tended to rape face.

Then Hirez decided to make hel easy. So they gave her the ability to change stances at level 1. Previously, she was locked in dark stance until level 5 which made her a lot harder to use.

Then at the same time they made her a free god so newbies were subjected to an easy to use hel in noob games.

Result? Terrible players complained about hel being OP even though all that really happened was she was made easier to play. The change had no impact on hel in high level games since they know how to counter hel. But low level players had no clue how to deal with her.

So hirez nerfed hel into total garbage.

Result... no one plays hel really and she does poorly in competitive games because her shared cool downs ruin her and her L2 duration is too short and it doesn't even cleanse but merely makes you temporary immune to CC. So a long duration slow will be ignored until the cleanse wears off then be applied for the remaining duration.

She's under powered and as someone else said "broken".

The fix for her is changing her back. Remove the shared cool downs and because bad players will get eaten by easy to play hels... make her harder to play again so bad players just never see her. Make her stance change only an option at level 5.

They won't do that but that's how you'd fix her. I enjoy playing her in smurf games against terrible players because that's about the only place she still works.
