The thread is dedicated to suggestions to make smite more popular and sustain a place in the gaming world.

Issues:

- modes of publicity
- how to gain loyalty of new players
- how to sustain loyalty of veteran players
- which age groups to target and how

Continue with what they're doing now. (and maybe fix those generic scamware looking cookie advertisements)

The word of mouth advertisement is doing Smite great honor. And focusing on a adult group will effectively kill the other. Especially if the focus is put on the (currently winning-in-size) 13-17 age group. I already think they did enough to compliment the veterans - maybe a alpha skin would have been fun. Beta skins are possible too - but SMITE is way crowded already. So there's no real individualism with that.

They could give more grindfest to the level 30's. It's always nice to build something up while playing games. Maybe they should make the casual ELO transparant or something along those lines. Upping the level cap could work too (30+) but that could harvest issues ala matchmaking.
That's just my 2 cents.

Oy! Give me some privacy.

Like Thiel said, Smite's doing a pretty good job. A lot of people on YouTube have mentioned the game/posted gameplay about it and have gotten people interested in it. In fact, that's how I found out about Smite. Was watching some vid at the end of 2012 about the top anticipated F2P games going into 2013, and the two guys had Smite on the top of the list because they were interested in seeing how it was going to continue to grow. Unfortunately, at the time, my pc was busted and had to wait a few months to play Smite when my pc was fixed.

Smite is a very visually appealing game, and the focus of mythological gods adds even more appeal to that. I've had tons of friends either hear me talking about Smite or watched me play it who went on to start playing it as well. In fact, my cousin saw me playing it when I was visiting and started playing less than a week ago and already hit level 10 and bought the ultimate god pack. So really, all of the advertisement they get from streamers/YouTubers has definitely helped the player base and the fact that Hi-Rez has supported and embraced this has been very good for Smite.

One thing they really need to work on to gain trust is to work on their horrid anti-cheat system. This can be a very big turnoff for new users, especially when they learn how it works.

Thiel, a beta skin already exists - Cacodemon Ymir.

Anyway, I think they just need to advertise more, because they're on a great path. There's nothing they really need to do to increase popularity other than get more known. Try to get companies like eSports to host something often, or such.

I think their basis around mythological gods is enough to draw in a good crowd. It's relatable and interesting, and their extremely varied game mode choice is amazing. You don't feel locked into conquest.

I think just being what they are now will do well. As the company grows, so will the game.
