In all the times I've played this game, I've probably only played with 1 or 2 people who actually know how to play Zhong Qui. EVERY SINGLE OTHER TIME, they bomb miserably in almost every single match they play in. Some may have a good start, but as soon as you reach mid-to-lategame, they suddenly get shut down at almost every turn.

I can't tell you how many times I've won a match because enemy Zhong performed terribly, or matches I lost because our Zhong did badly. At least the ratio of bad enemy Zhongs to my team's has been rather good to me, but that luck always changes. I'm not mad at the losses, but I am curious to know why most Zhong Qui players just do poorly.

But on to the subject at hand: Is Zhong a difficult god to learn how to play, and his style overwhelms people new to him, or does he generally suck all around?

Zhong Kui is a very good god, maybe even first pick material (and he's the top 3 ban in competitive NA). His passive makes him able to take more than the standard mage, too. You must be playing with people who don't group up mid/late game - that's Zhong's weakness, the ability to pick him off easily when he's alone. If you can protect him, he will repay you. If you don't, he feeds. Simple as that.

Either that, or you have REALLY bad luck with the zhong players you face.

He is atm more of an ego machine since the nerf. Still viable, but Ao Kuang, Zeus and Agni are better.

I'd place him on about the same level as Agni. Less than Ao Kuang or Zeus, who are broken.

Zhong, in my opinion. Is a VERY easy god to play. So easy that. sometimes people don't realize how that and they end up doing poorly with him.

I've played a few zhong. The last time I played him, that was my... 7th time lol. But I never feed. I get fed.

He has sustain, dot and stun. An easy god to play if realizing those aspects.

Gem of Isolation and Expose Evil should not belong in the same universe.

He is a hard mage AKA he has very low killing potential early game, but if he manages to stay alive and snowball and farm a bit he will do well mid game and if he manages to snowball, farm and maybe get a few kills he will do AMAZING late game.

He has great sustain (most mages will just waste mana if they poke him) he can get out of a gank if he uses doesn't use Book of Demons at the wrong time. He is also a pain in teamfights since of his massive AoE (and that is after they removed the heal from Recall Demons

However he is has some glaring flaws. He Is one of the few gods that have ZERO mobility to speak of (not even a tiny speed buff) and all of his skills require him to get up close and personal, not the best combination. He also is also very combo reliant (if he misses Expose Evil he can barely do anything until its of cooldown). Finally you can kill him a couple of times early/mid game he will be much less of a problem late game.

In short: Great, not perfect, pretty hard to learn, underrated, not UP or OP.

I believe that most zhong qui players suck COMPLETELY !

Motive for that is because this god is a very damn unusual character. He is a natural hibrid in many aspects ( a mix of a guardian, a mage and a hunter ). The best way for anyone to use him is by understanding that he can't be played as a conventional mage, it's very important to get some defense with him, and a bit o movememt speed, due to the lack of an escape.

For me, he should be played as a basic attack based mage, taking advantage of the telkines ring + book of demons combo while getting physical defense, movement speed, attack speed and magical defense.

While you won't hit like a truck ( as ao kang, zeus or other mages ) , you won't survive like crazy ( as ymir, bacchus or other guardians ) or do a crazy nice damage with basic attacks ( as freya or nu wa ) you are a great hibrid, and that's zhong qui's essence
