More popular gods are now less popular?

Maybe its because things have changed since I been gone since I have not kept up with all the patch notes but I have noticed that some of the more popular gods are supposedly less popular now? I do not understand it based on how popular they were before.

For example :
Agni is ranked #30 and Anubis is ranked #15
- How the heck is Anubis more popular than Agni now? I thought that people used to love to say that Anubis sucks and that Agni is the pro god, why is Anubis double as popular over Agni now?

Hercules is ranked #9 in terms of popularity ? What ? How is this even possible ? Hercules was no were near close to that high in terms of popularity and now he is in the top 10?

I was looking at Tiermonster's chart and just noticed that even though Anubis is ranked #15 and Agni is ranked #30 that it shows Agni has been played more yet he is less popular????

Are they updating to see who is popular every few months or are they counting all time played?
Because if they are counting all time played it says Agni is played more yet he is ranked #30 when Anubis has been played less? I am guessing they are updating it by a certain time period?

The Hercules rating can be explained, while all the warriors got some heavy nerfs 2-3 patches ago, Hercules was forgotten and he's actually got a buff (I don't remember if during the same patch or later/earlier). The remodel may have made more people play him too.

I don't know about Anubis vs Agni, I do see Anubis picked more than Agni recently in 3v3, maybe it's the same in Conquest too.

I almost never see Anubis in casuals OR ranked, so I have no idea. But the Herc one is spot on - ever since they made him ridiculously easy to use, he's been getting more popular as a support, jungler, and solo laner.

Yea, I don't know. It's tiermonster, nobody can interpret that ****.

But Sub is right, even since they changed Herc he's been extremely popular in all game modes.

After they did Herc's remodel, probably 80%-90% of games I played for the next few days, somebody picked Herc. I was actually getting tired of seeing him, not so much because he's a pain in the ***, and he is, but I was just tired of seeing him so much, lol.

Agni is usually only a mid lane God and has a steep learning curve, Anubis can be played mid or solo but is a wrap, ult, win. That explains why Agni is "better" but played less, and Anubis is played more often but isn't "as good" as Agni.

Herc is pretty self-explanatory if you've played the game since the warrior nerf.

When I was checking the charts to see which gods where played the most, Agni was very high on the list, at the very least he was in top #15 no more, I think he was actually somewhere lower than even #15. I recall it was Anhur as #1 Played god, neigh was also very high and Poseidon was super high as well.

Now those gods which were the most played STILL HAVE MORE PLAY TIME yet they are saying they are not the most played. Basically if you go on tiermonster you will notice some of the gods like Anhur/Agni/Neith have been played MORE yet they are not ranked higher than other gods that have been played LESS.

Again my example was Agni Vs Anubis.
A few months ago Agni was ranked in the Top #3-12 somewhere in that range, Anubis if I recall was ranked like #15-26 somewhere in between those ranks.

What I am saying is even though Anubis is ranked higher and is number #15 now, it still says that AGNI has been PLAYED MORE than Anubis yet Agni is ranked like #30>>>>????

This makes no sense, if Anubis is more popular than Agni then why does Agni have more plays that would actually mean Agni is played more than Anubis.

So I came to my own conclusion that, what tiermonster is doing is, only counting what gods people are playing "recently" and not counting "All time Played" but rather what gods are be played now???

Other wise it makes no sense how Anubis can be ranked #15 in terms of popularity when Agni has more plays.

Maybe they refresh agni's chart somehow and make a mess after his remodel

In the past month I have seen an anubis in every 2nd game and agni has become a mythical creature, I'm starting to doubt his existance...

The herc is spot on though.

Maybe they show how much they are played in pubs but then sort popularity based on picks/bans in ranked/pro games

I know that's what dota 2 charts do

why does wukong look so much different now?

well if you look to all time played it is popularity overall. and if a other god gets really popular it won't be so high at first because it has less plays. you need to look to plays in a certain period of time too make a good popularity chard
