You can add me in-game if you want, IGN is Firraria, I'd be glad to play with you, though I'll probably be busy with christmas stuff for the next couple days.

hehe, so thanks for the the help callmecam. and firraria i look forward to playing with you. been getting stomped solo lane last couple of times i tried it. i may try some ADC. anyone got some hints.

i understand that i should rotate, i just have no idea when.
also if someone could give me a lay out of what happens after everyone buys things, like what the meta is of everyone getting starting game buffs and such.

There are two different starting metas depending on which side of the map that you start on.

Solo lane on right: Solo laner and mid start at right mid harpies while the jungler starts at red by himself. He solos that buff, and he and the solo laner meet up at blue (mid goes to lane after harpies.) The solo laner and jungler then go into the solo lane, where they both stay until the jungler rotates for mid harpies (leaving around 1:30-1:45.) The jungler will sometimes leave early to try an early gank or steal buffs, but staying for a while is standard.

The duo lane start on the left, and they can start a few different ways. The most common way is to just get blue, then go to lane. The enemy duo lane has to help at mid harpies though, so there's an opportunity to invade, or you can just harass them to try and make them come to lane without blue.

Solo lane on left: Solo laner and jungler start at speed, then go to blue, then to lane. You get to lane faster than the opposite side with this start, so you can cut them off as they try to get to lane or even invade and try to steal if you have fast enough clear (or if they don't have HoG.)

The duo lane helps with right mid harpies this time, then goes to blue and lane (mid goes directly to lane after harpies again.) It's pretty common to get harassed/invaded here, so it's smart to have your support ward near their blue so you can see if they're doing it or if they're coming to you. You may have to go from mid harpies to lane and push before you come back for blue.

--This is what will happen if everyone playing knows the ranked meta. That's hardly a given in casuals though. A lot of times junglers won't buy a red pot (or even HoG,) which makes soloing red buff not worth it, and just getting people to the right lane can be a problem. Try to get the people with you to at least follow the right path though. If you're the solo laner, try to make sure the jungler is starting speed > blue with you if that's the side you're on, etc.

For rotations, try to stick to two situations,

1. Fight nearby: This is the simple one, and the biggest rule that mids need to follow (and so many don't.) If there's a fight nearby, or is about to be one, be the first one there. That might not be possible if the fight is in the enemy jungle, but if you're ever beaten to a fight at your back harpies by the enemy solo laner, you're failing rotations hard.

It takes experience to know where fights will happen before they do (the one obvious situation is mid harpies; when they spawn, both teams will be going there.) but just keep an eye on the minimap and react quickly at least. If you see the enemy jungler contesting yours at your speed buff, don't just watch. Get there to secure the kill, save your teammate, block the enemy escape, something.

This is where you need to follow your lane opponent immediately if you see them start to rotate first. Don't wait ten seconds to clear the wave and then rotate if there's already a fight going on; it'll be over by the time you get there, and you probably lost it.

2. You have nothing else to do: Dumpstering your lane? Took your tower at 10 minutes and have the lane pushed 3/4 of the way to the tier2 tower? Don't just stand in lane taunting, make something happen elsewhere. You still need to defend your towers though, so don't just leave without a plan. Just farming with your opponent to late game isn't necessarily bad, but you're wasting potential opportunities if they're farming while you're waiting.

Supports generally rotate to mid harpies every spawn if possible to try to secure them (mid harpy camps spawn every 100 seconds,) so that's another thing to worry about if you're in that role.

You'll get better at weighing the pros and cons of rotating as you play more. It's generally not good to lose a wave to tower if you're not getting a kill, it's 'never' good to lose a tower unless you're securing a major objective you otherwise wouldn't get, etc. Stick to those two situations and you should be ahead of most people though. A lot of people just tunnel vision on their lane until about 30 minutes :/

What problems are you having with solo lane specifically by the way? Just losing the 1v1, or something else?
