Poor Midgardian Mail. While you aren't as bad as it seems, the unreliable passive makes it so that no one loves you.

Add to the fact that its brother, Hide of the Nemean Lion, is far more reliable against the same target, and has slightly better stats for the same price, and the poor cuirass is left twisting in the wind.

As conscionable people, we cannot allow this travesty to go on. Midgardian Mail needs a makeover, a PR consultant, the works. The question is, how?

No one likes buying an item, then being killed by 3 basic attacks and an ability from a fed carry when the passive fails to activate.

Here is my proposal: 10% reduction of attack speed and movement speed, lasting 3 seconds, three stacks max.

What say you?

I use it on Athena from time to time. Even though it slows people preventing you from leading them as far, it useful in teamfights to cripple assassins and carrys DPS.

Debuff duration of one sec so that AS becomes not reduced below one.

Uh...that kind of cap is kind of unfair, don't you think?

The next logical progression to that line of thinking is, "Why not put caps on other debuff items?"

And that comes with a whole other load of problems beyond the scope of this thread.

It's not the same to set the duration of a debuff to one sec and to put caps on all debuff items but we have something like that already. It's not possible to reduce protection below 0.

Attack speed reduction hurts attack based gods with low AS much more than high attack speed god.
The actual RNG system balance this by the higher chance to get the debuff.
Your suggestion (I did near the same in the old official forum but 5% MS per stack and one sec duration) doesn't balance that in the same way - slow AS gods would only get debuff stacks slightly slower but that's all.

The actual random debuff has only 2 sec duration and so it wasn't planed that this debuff is on opponents with already low attack speed all the time. By which reason do you like to increase the debuff duration by 50% with the new mechanics?

but gods with low attack speeds probably aren't relying on their auto attacks in the first place, so I don't see how that's an issues.

You were faster - I edited last post at the same time. :)

You don't buy this item to counter gods who aren't relying on their auto attacks.
It was never planed to reduce a god with 1.25 AS to 0.95 (=>31%) via this debuff all the time.
