When getting the assist on minion kills do you get stacks for stacking items? Just wondering, because then support tanks could actually get stacking items.

Watcher's gift means that you damage them and not last hit but still get the amount of gold an exp for it like you would have gotten If you had last hit.
It also gives you more gold as time goes on. I don't think it gives you stacks but If you are looking for a tank stack item try gonlet's of thebes.
never forget dawngate and never forgive EA. Freia will hunt them for eternity.

Gauntlet of Thebes is a terrible item, for a number of reasons.

First off, it requires 100 stacks to reach it's full potential, but the gods it works best on are tanks. Tanks, as they currently stand, are awful at farming minion waves and jungle creeps, meaning it takes them a very long time to build up full stacks.

Second, raw HP as a stat is just bad. There is this concept known as "effective health", which exists in pretty much any game that uses both hitpoints and defense stats. Basically, what effective health implies is that HP becomes more effective when you have protections built up to reinforce it. It's pretty much been proven that stacking only protections will make you much tankier than if you only stacked HP, simply because you already gain plenty of HP just from leveling up, while protections only go up very slightly (and can be increased much more dramatically through building items). Bruisers that build items like Voidblade and Witch Stone are far more durable than those who build Frostbound Hammer and Soul Eater (Although an argument can be made that Soul Eater's lifesteal can provide survivability, it relies on you being able to inflict damage and can be countered by things like Sickening Strike and Hide of the Nemean Lion.)

Another reason why raw HP is bad is because there is a lot of penetration in this game. If an enemy has enough penetration, their attacks will reduce your base protections to zero and actually inflict "true damage", meaning it's completely unmitigated. For example, if you're a carry who's built no protection items, and got stunned by an Anubis with 500 magical power and more than 50 penetration in his build, his Death Gaze alone could melt through 3550 HP in just three seconds! Even if you stacked HP, you'd still be dead, because HP doesn't mitigate damage: protections do.

"So I just build protections and suddenly Thebes is good?" Nope, because so many other better items provide both HP and protections to the point that Thebes doesn't really find a place in many builds. Bulwark of Hope, Sovereignty, Mystical Mark, Magi's Blessing, Hide of the Nemean Lion, and Hide of Leviathan are all items that provide respectable amounts of HP, while also providing substantial amounts of protection and even passive effects, things that Thebes cannot provide. These items on their own provide more effective health than fully-stacked Thebes.
Waiting on a good new MOBA, please.

I never said it was good or that you should get it because Ifyou last hit for the stacks than you take farm from the Carry.
Sunfall you are completly right about the gaunlet's of Thebes but the question was not is it good but the question was is there a stacking tank item and there is but it's a horrible item.

you can make good use of the gauntlet of thebes on hercules, he is one of the only gods with which i sometimes focus on health when building. As far as watchers gift, no, it does not give you stacks on items.

The only god I would consider getting gauntlet is Vulcan, but unless you get it as second or third item (Mark or Vampyric as first item) it is useless.
