There is an issue with ::SMITE:: using Indian gods. The argument would have merit if they didn't refuse to use Christian icons. Why don't they incorporate "saints" in the same manner of demi-gods and demons of other cultures? I cannot imagine a non-biased argument against such incorporation other than it would offend the game designer's religion or Western public (since I seriously doubt it would affect the player base substantially).

Christianity has a host of saints and demonic entities that could play a part in the game. Isn't it more than hypocritical not to embrace a uniform approach?

They might do it or not. But they do still have a lot on their plate. And i mean A LOT. Doing something so obvious as putting historic christian figures in a God/Saint/Deity MOBA style game is maybe something they don't want to do so early in the game.

So like I said: They might or might not do it at all. Just wait for the full release and we might get some hints.

Well. Kali actually looks like that in so many religious paintings. Some with nothing covering her breasts at all. And Hi-Rez always makes accurate models of each characters based on their personality or how they are depicted in they're lore. So as IF they'd give Saint Peter a sword as he is not a Saint of war or anything that can relate him to swords.

You mentioned it in your post; there's no reason to put something into the game that adds no real substance that will just turn into a potentially offensive storyline. It makes no difference whether a character is named Jesus or Chang'E. You can always fit any skillset/god idea into one of the existing mythos. I don't really know why Hinduism was included when it doesn't fit with the other archaic/dead pantheons, but that seems like an outlier/mistake rather than a reason to expand into other modern religions.

I'm not familiar with the Kali controversy, but it seems pretty obvious that they'd rather focus on gameplay than making a mainstream splash by having Foxnews debate about them.

Mh Indian gods would be awesome! But I first want to see more Mayan and Chinese.

I think I would like christian gods, because I`m really anti-christian and would love to see their face smashed (In you face Jesus!)

But I think the pantheons are still an unlimited source for now (So many gods to have ingame, like Horus, Osiris, Seth, maybe Ragnaroek?)

im pretty sure hirez said that they will never involve any arabic religion in smite. so no saints for you i guess.

Anyway! Yeah, I'm sure that Isis wears a bra and short skirt in Egyptian lore, or that it makes sense for Bastet to look like the wet dream of someone with an animal fetish. Or Neith...she needs no explanation. She's a war goddess, for Pete's sake!

If they can clothe male gods who are often depicted nude, like Zeus or sterilize a serxualized god like Loki, then they can offer a shred of dignity to goddesses as well.

99% of Saints are Saints because they follow peaceful religious teachings. The only one off the top of my head that isn't is St. Joan of Arc...

I don't really think adding a monotheistic religions deity to the game makes much since. The jewish god would be the same as the christian god and that would be the same as the islam god. They are all, in essence, exactly the same.

I also don't think saints are considered deities, so why would you use saints? I guess if you wanted to stretch it, you could claim 'the father, son, and holy ghost' as three gods...

Regardless, there is no reason in making a giant controversy out of the game. Personally, I think the game should be left to common (dead) religions. Meaning, Egyptian, greek/roman, Mayan, Chinese, etc. I don't even really want to see them introduce obscure pantheons.
