you need life steal on Ah Puch early because of the mana. Gem of Isolation lets you not be one shot. boots and Gem of Isolation are interchangeable. you can remove Bancroft's Talon for Soul Reaver spear of desolation, or Rod of Tahuti. If you still think that you are too 1 shot early game, then you can replace it with soul gem.
Ah puch has really bad sustain because of his mana problem. The best thing to do is to build tiny tinket and then into Bancroft's Talon so that you don't have to worry about health potions. stay behind your tank, if you have no tank, stay far behind minions. if you have no minions, stay behind you other squishies in joust. Ah puch is one of the squishiest gods in the game. if you are in an engagement by yourself, ult and use your combo. life steal is not very good on Ah Puch, but I find it important to stay in the fight. you cant heal through potions early because of all the mana. so you need life steal.
of you are up against a monster tank that is getting you, then build just to kill them. Squishies will die no matter what damage items you build, because they are already one shot. Build Soul Reaver to kill those gods that build a ****-ton of health. When it gets to be late game, and you don't want life steal any more there are 2 options if you need to do insane damage. Either replace it with Rod of Tahuti, or, if you need to get away some times, Shaman's Ring. They both give you almost the same passive, but 1 gives you slightly less damage, but a ****-ton of extra movement speed. If you cant tank it, then run away. are you a tank or a fighter bomber? Do you unleash a payload and run away, praying not to die? Or are you a tank, that deals and can take so much damage that there is nothing left to kill you? also, If you need anti heal, look at anti heal builds
replace Bancroft's Talon with final build late game.
honestly, if a defensive item has no cool-downs, DON'T GET IT.
If you don't have Chronos' pendant or at least 30% cool-downs, DON'T GET THESE ITEMS.
Pro- does the same crazy broken damage as zeus, but has anti heal in his ultimate!!!!
Con- has really bad mana problems
Con- is squishy
Con- must have gem of isolation to be viable if his teammates have no slows.
This god is amazing with Chaac! In ranked play. use his 4 when chaacs ax rain is where the enemy team is, the slows stack, and cause the enemy team to be DECIMATED BY YOUR ABILITIES.

If you don't have at least 30% cooldowns, you have a problem. Cooldowns turn Ah Puch into a monster. If a defense item has no cooldowns, then I wouldnt get it. Cooldowns are very important for this god. Gem of Isolation IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ITEM YOU COULD GET ON AH PUCH!! It gives you health, magical power, and slows. It is a fantastic item for his 4 and his 3. In fact, if you dont get Gem of Isolation then his ultimate is almost useless. Gem of isolation is a defensive item also. I cant tell you how many times i have been chased by the entire enemy team and I popped my 4. The slows kept them from catching me and saving my life. YOU MUST GET GEM OF ISOLATION ON HIM NO MATTER YOUR BUILD.
[Book of Thoth] Is a very good item on Ah Puch. It gives you both mana, magical power, and Mp5. this really helps you mid game. I do not recommend getting this right off the bat. [Book of Thoth] Is a really good Item for the mana sustain. but having life steal can save you in certain situations. Extra healing is always good. Yes, Ah Puch can Heal by eating minions. But it doesn't help you when you are in a fight and your teammates are dead.
His one is very good for doing damage. It gives you slows and gives you corpses to eat. it is his main source of damage for his 2. One thing that you can do defensively is when you are engaging someone who is auto-attacking you, don't detonate the corpses. The auto attacks will hit the corpses and can save you in those 1v1 fights sometimes. plus, you can eat the corpses while fighting(sometimes) another thing about not detonating corpses. It gives you cooldowns. It is so funny when I use my combo and they think I have no abilities. Then, I quickly eat some corpses I have laying around. I quickly use my combo that I just used a second ago and completely catch them off guard. It can get you kills.
His two is the main source of damage. It makes the corpses you set on the ground explode! You combo in the following orders: 132, 312, 12, or 4132. there are some benefits to not using his two. You have to determine if the benefits out weigh the losses.
His three is very interesting. it works well with [Gem of Isolation] If you are against people with healing abilities that are used during the duration like [Aphrodite], [Jon que], or [Chaac], then you also get a stun in the end. by the time you get to stun him, you just pop your three on him again and it gets to be quite aids.
His four is the ultimate ability on Ah Puch. It is a great equalizer in the 1v# fights where you are out numbered and you need to survive some how or need an edge. [Spear of magus] is a good item for this, [Gem of Isolation] Is also a good Item for this ability. it is also why I think [Bancroft's Talon] is worth getting on Ah Puch.
His 4 makes this item worth getting. when you hit multiple people with his 4 and fight. You can get in there and be kind of tanky. The slows are aids and the damage is significant. It is an item that will work on any mage because of how good it is.
EVERYTHING IS SITUATIONAL. Don't expect to 1v3 or 1v2 or 1v5 and win every engagement with this god. He is a monster when he is fed. If you do feel like you can win an engagement then do it. I do not recommend fighting multiple enemies at the same time by yourself without your 4 being ready and being at least 2 levels ahead!!! Certain things I talk about with his 2 are situational.

I do find getting boots third very questionable. Yes, Gem of Isolation can help avoid the enemy getting too close to you, but without boots it won't do that job good enough, especially if this is a conquest build (Although it seems like this one is for joust).
Assuming Joust, I would build: Book of Thoth, Shoes of Focus, Gem of Isolation, Spear of the Magus, Chronos' Pendant, Soul Reaver.
Or: Book of Thoth, Shoes of Focus, Spear of Desolation, Obsidian Shard, Soul Reaver, Book of the Dead.
Start would be Mage's Blessing, Spellbook, 2 x Mana Potion and 1 Healing Potion.
