Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

To that end, I personally would stick with more of a standard build for him. I would suggest switching out Obsidian Shard with Typhon's Fang. Same base % pen (though less than Ob Shard's passive situational boost), but provides that functional boost in lifesteal function.
The next standard switch would be to move out Sands of Time / Pendulum of Ages with Vampiric Shroud / Sacrificial Shroud. I'm fine skipping Bancroft's Talon if you use this and Typhon's.
But what that does is it reduces your CDR by 20%. Next step would then be to not bother with 50% CDR. I think 30-40% is plenty. Switch out Sphinx's Baubles since you won't use that bonus CDR. If you want both CDR and Pen you can consider picking up Staff of Myrddin. That would get you to 30% CDR and 40% pen. Grab a CDR buff to max out.
Finally you can consider that Divine Ruin is a situational item. If you really don't face much healing, you could consider passing this item up altogether. If you want to get to 40% CDR, switch it out for Spear of Desolation (but also pick it up earlier in the build). That will give you some earlier flat pen.
End standard build would be more like Vampiric Shroud ( Sacrificial Shroud) -> Chronos' Pendant -> Spear of Desolation / Divine Ruin -> Staff of Myrddin -> Typhon's Fang -> Rod of Tahuti. Yes, it's a lot less unique but I think it's better balanced.
