Hi there and welcome to my 2nd guide for Season 2 and this one will feature another of the oldest gods Artemis the Goddess of the Hunt in this guide i will explain how to overall play with Artemis her Pros and Cons and the many builds she can go into due to her passive giving her some Versatility
Pros: + has a Very Strong Late Game + Has Early Crit with Still Target + Unique CC in the form of rooting cripple traps Transgressors Fate can have up to 3 at a time + Has a AS and Movement speed steroid on demand Vengeful Assault + Good Poke with Suppress The Insolent it also slows + Good Team Fight Potential with Calydonian Boar + Can Melt Objectives Like Butter |

Cons: - Has a Somewhat Weak Early Game (requires 2/3 items to get going) - Does not Possess any Dash or Jump making her very weak vs slows - Calydonian Boar can be Killed or CC before it can be of use(CC is not easy as its also CC immune as it spawns thus timing must be perfect) - has trouble clearing waves at the start(lvl 1 - 4/5) - Very Squishy (cant deal with very High Burst Junglers) - Has Trouble against Walls Cutting off her escape route - New Disarm CC is Very Effective on her even more so then other hunters |
Here i will explain what all her spells do and some Mechanics Behind Them:
Still Target(~) After Landing a AA(Auto Attack/Left Click) We Gain 5% critical Strike Chance for 4 sec stacking up to 3x(times) for a total of 15% crit chance. |
Transgressors Fate |
Transgressors Fate (1) This is our Rooting Cripple Trap we can use it in many ways mostly to follow up CC or Escape. |
Vengeful Assault (2) This is Our Steroid on Demand granting 35% - 75% Attack Speed and 20% movement speed for 3 - 5 sec scaling from skill rank 1 - rank 5. |
Suppress the Insolent(3) We Shot a Hail of Arrows in the Targeted AoE Dealing Damage and Slowing down Targets hit. |
The Branch off for builds will be marked in a Red Underlined Color also im not doing any unicorn or other builds here since the nerf to Qin's Sais it is overall slightly less effective then the critical strike and similar to critical strike builds
For a Simple Read i made the Builds Clickable so just click the one you want and read on However the Standard build is the build all other builds branch off of So i would Recommend Reading the Standard one First!
Devourer's Gauntlet We Stay in Lane Until we have at Least 1400 Gold for Devourer's Gauntlet and ideally we want 100 gold more then that so we can pick up 1 Healing Potion and 1 Ward after we have Devourer's Gauntlet we need to stack it to get its full benefits this means be careful and farm it up. |
Ninja Tabi Our 2nd Item is Always Ninja Tabi the attack speed it grants is always a good boost to our DPS(Damage Per Second) and the movement speed is a Simple Must Have. |
Ichaival this is the 2nd choice we have for a item unlike the Executioner this item offers 10 flat pen a lot of attack speed and its passive reduces the Physical Power of any god were hitting while giving us Bonus Physical power this item is great for boxing or dueling other hunters or assassins its much cheaper the The Executioner so its simpler to pick up if your behind in case your ahead id recommend option 1.! |
Rage This is our 4th or 5th item depending on if you chose to build Ichaival its place in this build is simple it grants us a lot of critical strike chance starting at 30% and giving more for every hit that does not crit |
Deathbringer This is our 5th or 6th item depending on if you did or did not purchase a Ichaival its purpose here is clear it makes our critical strikes stronger gives us 50 physical power and finally gives us 20% critical strike chance combined with out passive and rage we have a near always 60%+ crit chance |
Malice This is our final 6th/7th item (depending on if you did or did not purchase Ichaival that grants us 50 more physical power another 20% critical strike chance and finally it makes our Critical strikes bleed for a % of our total Physical Power now at full build or minimal critical strike chance is 70% with our passive it hits 85% and with 1 rage stack 95%(90% is the cap i think though) either way we will be criting just about every AA |
Titan's Bane This Item grants us Amazing Objective/Warrior/Tank Shredding Potential in case we have a FG + Red Buff we can even 1v1 a Phoenix if our Vengeful Assault is up and ready obviously those stone towers of theirs are now at this point Lego Block Towers as they will be crumbling down within 2.5 sec or less |
The Executioner as the 3rd item in the build we will Rush Executioner as we will need the pen for what were doing |
Rage if going for single target damage Rage will put us into the const critical strike zone that does just that and with this we are not at the Standard Hunter Build though in a reversed order of some items since were ahead and can afford them |
Sprint |
Sprint This is one of the most Standard Actives to pick up it grants us a burst of Movement Speed Makes us Immune to slows at rank 2 & 3 and finally at rank 3 we can AA without the AA movement Penalty(when your AA you slow down for a split moment or so for quite a lot feels like 50%) i would run this 9.9/10 times there are a very few scenarios in which you dont get these due to mega high burst combined with Odin since odin often forces Combat Blink and burst often forces Aegis Amulet or Aegis Pendant |
Greater Purification This Active Cleanses just about any CC and makes you immune to CC for 3 sec while reducing all coodlowns by 3 sec as well it can be used in many ways any were from making sure you dont get interrupted during Vengeful Assault to withstanding CC or some Executions such as the one from Ao Kuang and ect... i get this 9.99/10 times |
Combat Blink This Active is a great but rare pick up if the enemy team has a ton of burst and wall like spells for example Odin + Thor in these kinds of scenarios unless you have a team that can save you and protect you from some incoming damage Geb for example can save you if not you have little choice but to get this |
Aegis Amulet/Pendant Depending on the situation and the amount of burst the enemy has a Aegis Amulet pr Aegis Pendant can be great life saving actives from ults such as several shots from Rain Fire or Release The Kraken! it will usually replace either sprint or Greater Purification its up to you and your teams ability to decide which to replace |
Dear god Match ups in duo lane are a nightmare to make this will be a heavily WIP(worn in progress Zone for the guide) as i will need to note a number of hunters and guardians that you see in here!
oh and sorry if some match ups dont have the best advise im still improving my self and im batter on dealing with hunters then supports thus the support match ups may be lacking any feedback on those is welcome
strong points: - Very Strong Late Game - Good Poke with Poison Darts & Rising Jaguar - Has lot of Free power with Dead of Night and Branching Bola - has some global presence with Darkest of Nights - Darkest of Nights also grants him Much Greater Movement Speed and Auto Attack Range for its short Duration - Rising Jaguar is CC immune in its Air Portion - One of the Champion Objective Melters |

Weak Points: + Rising Jaguar is his only escape spell + Rising Jaguar is treated as dash and cant go over walls and you can hit him when he is using it! + Darkest of Nights is simple to counter in a good chunk of situations that he can use it in + Squishy in all stages of the game + Needs to Itemize for Attack speed + Rising Jaguar can be interrupted with nearly any CC spell during its Dash Portion |
strong points: - Can Sustain him self & his support with Share The Love - has great poke CC and medium burst in the form of Heart Bomb - one of the longest dashes in game aka Flutter it also grants him attack speed an ally gods moving in the trail of flutter move faster - Large team fight presence in the form of Fields Of Love making a giant cripple AoE that after dealing damage will mez targets as well - has the highest base Auto Attack Speed Scaling from all hunters - for some reason most smite players have the instinct to chase and destroy Cupid like some sort of non exhisting taunt similar to the natural pheonomana LoL players experience with that squirl thing guy whats his Name Teemo i think |
Threat Level:Difficult - Hard |
Weak Points: + hear bomb is a skill shot and thus we can learn to doge it + Fields Of Love has a short channel time before it lands if cupid takes a form of hard CC during its channel cast animation the spell is canceled + Share The Love will only restore mana if his support or other teammates take the hearts if both supports go to roam he can experience tiny mana issues + the attack speed buff on Flutter would require for cupid to charge in at the start of fight which would usually result in his death but be careful about chasing him when he uses it or running away from him + Squishy in all stages of the game probably the most squishy hunter in the game + none of his spells make him CC immune |
strong points: - Passive steroid in the form of Audacity - Global presence with Across The Sky - medium CC and physical Defense buff in the form of Serenade with perfect timing he can mez our Calydonian Boar right before it hits him - Strong Escape / Chase in the form of The Moves not only dashing and pushing away gods but also granting bonus movement speed to him and his ally's as well it also builds up his Audacity for each enemy hit - Best Split Pusher in the Game can force a god to defend have his team start a fight then just fly into the fight like a hero |
Threat Level:Low -Difficult |
Weak Points: + Wave Clear with his So Beautiful was nerfed and is now unable to clear the full wave aka we can match his clear or force him under tower + similar to how other hunters can be stopped mid dash with Transgressors Fate so can he + Calydonian Boar is a decent tool against him it can force out Across The Sky for its CC immunity or will stun him letting you burst him down + Across The Sky has a large build up time of around 2 sec or more we can get a lot of free hits in if he uses this infront of Us + Dots can effect him while he using Across The Sky so a Malice proc can kill him in it late game or if you have a teammate with dots it can help secure the kill + Across The Sky had its knock up removed if you notice his landing spot you can actually place down a Transgressors Fate on that spot and he will be stuck for at least 1 sec and will either blow beads or take out Calydonian Boar and then die to our Vengeful Assault |
strong points: - has a CC cleansing shield in the form of Stone Shield aka great peel - Possess a Knock up in the form of Shock Wave - great mobility and potential giant knock back in the form of Roll Out - Tanky as hell vs critical based gods due to Hard as Rock - Great team fight initiation/presence with Greater Blink + Cataclysm |

Weak Points: + you can Cancel Out Roll Out before it becomes CC immune with most hard CC + does not possess high Damage unless your in melee range and he would have had to chose to max Shock Wave and even then it falls off at the mid game so its kinda pointless for him to max it + his early game is a tad weak before he becomes somewhat tanky + has trouble playing from behind (like most gods) + Shock Wave has a travel time and deals less damage the further it travels |
strong points: - Has Global Presence with Defender of Olympus - Strong CC with Confound - her Shield Wall deals a lot of damage in combo with Confound to force the 2nd hit - Decent mobility with Preemptive Strike - can Block AA with a Passive Portion of her Preemptive Strike - Confound is fast and wide can taunt many targets at once and since its fast can interrupt many spells such as Rising Jaguar during its dash portion - Massive Base HP scaling |

Weak Points: + Preemptive Strike has a charge up time making it simple to interrupt or block off with a wall + if the target of Defender of Olympus dies she will ult in place + some spells are able to follow her globally Sacred Monkey is the only spell that can do that for now + Ares's No Escape can pull her back with good timing to his location after she jumps globally + does not possess many weakness but she can be punished with Cripple effects and magic damage if caught out + Shield Wall's 2nd hit is usually avoided |
strong points: - Strong Clear & Poke with Glacial Strike - Possess a Ice Wall that can block escape routes and some spells - Strong CC with Frost Breath - His Passive Frostbite makes his AA hurt more then ours Early game - Glacial Strike also slows by 35% for 3/4 sec - Massive Zone out and potential burst with Shards of Ice - somewhat strong in all stages of the game |
Threat Level:Normal -Difficult/hard |
Weak Points: + Low Mobility + Can be bursted or caught out in rotations to mid camps/other lanes before he becomes tanky + Frost Breath has a short delay before it fires + Frost Breath can be hard to hit in melee range fast gods can dance around him + Shards of Ice is easy to avoid and or counter + Glacial Strike has a slight delay before it hits and can thus be avoided or countered with Aegis Amulet or Aegis Pendant + a miss placed Ice Wall can kill his team him self or save you and let you escape |
Overall Artemis can be a very Powerful god in the right hands having some of the best boxing power and potential along with one of the higher team fight potentials from all hunters she can cause a lot of pain melt objectives and bully non sustain based hunters out of lane even early on if she can afford to be aggressive that is thus she is best used with aggressive supports such as:
- Ymir there combo of Frost Breath Suppress The Insolent Glacial Strike + AA from both can be lethal very early on
- Athena due to her versatility she can greatly combo a a Shield Wall Confound into a Suppress The Insolent combo it can deal high damage and do rather quite well
- Sobek his charge pray works quite very well with Transgressors Fate pulling the enemy good into a 2 sec root is a effective 3 sec CC combo after the root ends they take a Tail Whip and fly towards Artemis he can then slow them with Lurking In The Waters or artemis can follow up on his Tail Whip with her Calydonian Boar overall quite the nasty lane though you may want to consider having a jungle Athena or Ymir in solo/jungle to provide additional CC as Sobek is based more around single target CC and multy target slows

Your guide is really good, another thing i could recomend you doing is totalling up the stats of all your builds, like how much power pen attack speed crit chance... that kinda stuff
tried her solo duo and mid and tried some builds here and there overall i think i did a decent job right now im trying to add similar collums and tablets on the ymir guide and update some of the older ones but first i need to finish a chllange from a friend
Jungle Bacchus....why did i ever accept that challange....
Also, there's no need to build all 3 crit items on Artemis. If you have all 3 you start at 70% crit chance and with both passives it's 70% -> 85% -> 100% -> 100%. If you build just Malice and Deathbringer that gives you 40% -> 45% -> 50% -> 55% -> which is plenty with her attack speed. I personally feel the extra pen on Titan's Bane or Brawler's Beat Stick is far more useful than the extra crit chance.
Also, since Apollo's nerf on lane clear I feel that he is not a difficult match-up at all. He can't one-shot wave and dive in on you. Just keep your ult ready if he tries to slide in. That's just my thoughts though.
I would also suggest experimenting with some builds that are not "meta-friendly" as I have had some really good luck with some odd builds.
I also agree that unicorn build is not really possible anymore with Qin's nerf and removal of pen boots. :(
