Welcome to my first ever Smite God Guide! Today's guide is Zues the mighty Greek Sky God.First of all, G.O.G stands for Guide of the Gods, starting with my favorite god: Zues! I am Aphnex (feel free to add me on Smite, SmiteFire, or YouTube) Be sure to practice with these builds and pick the one that is best suited to your liking.Zues is mainly built as a damage dealer, however I've been experimenting with him as a support and a tank. Obviously, not as well as I imagined kill wise but I managed to pull off a couple assists (15, conquest). As for the tank build, it's usable, but I'll make some adjustments.
Pros:
When I play Zues, I like to play him aggressive, but not too aggressive. He needs to stay in the game if he has any hope of doing high damage, but as you progress, you'll find Lightning Storm, Overcharge, and Detonate Charge doing all the work, with a little finish from Chain Lightning if needed.
By building Zues with strong magical items, you find the 3 hits with Overcharge (along with Fatalis and Polynomicon) will keep you at a high damage around 500-700 per detonate mid-game. By then you should already have the strength you need to crush your foes and end the game with a bang.Meditation
I instantly start the game with meditation, because personally I run out of mana fast, with the detonate charges and poking you'll be doing. This should keep you away from risky situations and a boost if your second ability is needed. Mana Potion
Not a big fan of Meditation? Then go with 5 Mana Potions, it keeps you sustained with the mana you need, but restricts you from a comeback with low mana. However, it gets the job done. Fatalis
Okay, here is why Fatalis is so important: Your passive, Overcharge. Read it? I applies 3 charges around your enemy, correct? There you go, mystery solved. /End Sarcasm. When you have a player like Zues, Fatalis is essential. Applying these charges could mean the fate of life and death. Sure Aegis Shield applies charges when hit, but can you really risk being hit 3 times, even at 25 - 85 + defense? Boots of the Magi
Okay, I get it, some of you guys aren't big fans of Fatalis either, so Boots of the Magai supplies the speed and magical/mana burst you need in favor of Fatalis Gem of Isolation
This item is self explanatory. It's basically the Frostbound Hammer of the magical items, and a powerful magical item overall. It helps a lot with Chain Lighting, because not only are you the skill to get your enemy god through a bunch of minions, it slows the enemy down by 20% for 2 seconds. Pythagorem's Piece
This a great item to get a great deal of mana, but also gives you a fairly decent magical power boost as well. The lifesteal isn't very important, but can be your savior. Book of Thoth
This item can be use if you are seriously trying to f*ck peoples' day up. The magical power this item offers along with Pythagorem's Piece and Gem of Isolation gets you to a new high in magical damage. Rod of Tahuti
The final item is the "Just-in Caseattorney of law" item. It's a huge magic leap and is often used to replace Book of Thoth or Pythagorem's Piece, but having it last is essential if you are at an impasse.
Overcharge:
In hand lightning bolt attacks against enemies will apply a charge (max of 3).

For real, m8.
For more out-of-the-box builds, I can offer you to check my Arachne bruiser build if you are fancy. It's called "Arachne: The Bruiser Guide". I actually tried it our multiple times with success (aroudn 20 games or so).
Cheers!
I love playing against Zeus's that go fatalis first. It means that they will have to wait to build up their magic power in which case the team can shut him down before he is able to do any real damage.
Sure fatalis might be viable, but definitely not first item; its fine if you are ahead on kills and gold.
I admit some people don't like Fatalis, which is why I offered a substitution with Boots of the Magi. If you don't like Fatalis, BotM is the next best thing.

Nothing wrong with using Fatalis as a first item for zeus.. I always start with it as it allows you to apply your charges more quickly which is what zeus is all about!!
As for the build I tried it out and it worked fairly well although it felt a bit more squishy than my normal zeus build.. I will admit the game ended before I could purchase all items (it was arena) so I will give it a look later and add some feedback.
more explanation behind why you chose each item would be appreciated though :D
Thank you both for the comment but I have to agree with this guy. Using Fatalis is an excellent way of applying charges in a fast way. I will admit that the damage build has a chance of being squishy if used too wildly. It's a high damage build with little or no defense. Thanks for trying out my build and I'll be explaining more soon.
