Hello, and welcome to my first guide, and Chaac's first proper guide. I've gotten a few masteries on Chaac, but I'm not a really pro player, but probably more than the rest of the people here(Written before Geb patch). The guide has a variety of choices for items, and doesn't strict you, although I do write which are the best on my list.
Pros
-Nice damage
-Awesome poke ability with a large radius
-Nice defense
-Awesome sustain with Rain Dance
-3 second silence in Storm Call
- Storm Call immunity!! (As for before Geb patch)
-If you use Overflow very often, your mana consumption may even equal to Thanatos!
Cons
-Falls off late game, which means you have to get the OP late game stuff.
-Very high mana consumption, may even equal Bacchus or Sobek.
- Overflow requires getting close to the fight
-While Thunder Strike is ranged, he is melee.
- Thunder Strike is real ****ing slow, you can walk at the same speed as it. It also means 1+2 combo doesn't work too well.
- Torrent's protections last for a very short time, and require a whole minion wave to max out.
- Storm Call Has meh damage for an ult.
-Countered by anyone who can zone a lot
----
Overflow
After 5 successful basic attacks, the next ability Chaac uses costs no mana.
This is a great passive for a mana hungry god, and sustains you while you are still out of mana, but requires you to get close to the enemy.
----
Thunder Strike
Chaac throws his Ax forward, dealing damage to all enemies in the target area. The Ax remains idle in the ground for 5s or until another ability is used.
Ability: Ground Target
Affects: Enemies
Damage: Physical
Radius: 25
Damage: 80 / 140 / 200 / 260 / 320 (60% of your physical power)
Cost: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70
Cooldown: 10
Now this is what everyone on /r/Smite is complaining about ("OMG so much dmg, big radus, sooo friggin' faast!"). It's your main nuke and has a really good range and nice radius. It's slow, but it doesn't matter much. When it happens, a projectile flies to the enemy, not instant damage, which makes people think it has a massive radius.
----
Torrent
Chaac spins his axe around him, damaging all enemies, and gaining protections for each enemy hit (max 5). If his Ax is out from Thunder Strike, he will first dash to the Ax location, doing 50% base damage to enemies he passes through and then executing his spin attack.
Ability: Area
Affects: Enemies
Damage: Physical
Radius: 20
Damage: 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 / 300 (+70% of your physical power)
Protections: 4 / 8 / 12 / 16 / 20
Protection Duration: 4s
Cost: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80
Cooldown: 15
This is what I consider Chaac's 'meh' ability. While some people may say Rain Dance is, I think you are wrong, because it has a low range, damage similar to Thunder Strike, and the protections last four seconds. Yes, you can teleport really far away, but you don't need to upgrade Torrent for that. Can be kind of nice for chasing, and teleporting can be great for 'hit n' run' tactics, and you can also drop your Ax at one place and run to the other, then teleporting to it, resulting either all enemies are gotten rid off, or only one enemy god guards the Axe, so you got rid of a few.
----
Rain Dance
Chaac summons a rainstorm around his current location for 6s. While it rains, he regains health, and enemies are caught in the mud, slowed, and their attack speed reduced. If his Ax is out from Thunder Strike, a rainstorm will also spawn at that location.
Ability: Aura
Affects: Enemies and Self
Radius: 20
Attack Speed Debuff: 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25%
Slow: 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25%
Healing: 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 (+15% of your physical power)every 0.5s
Cost: 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 / 95
Cooldown: 16s
Now this, this thing is what makes you rarely ever die. If you max Rain Dance soon, you could regenerate 30% of your health in one time. It can also slow movement and attack speed, which can be great for chasing enemies by slowing them. If combined with Thunder Strike, you can force enemies to move out of it, which takes a bit of time. A good thing to note is that it scales from physical power (Which is why I put Eye of Retaliation)
----
Storm Call
Chaac charges his lighting ax and unleashes a blast, silencing and damaging all enemies around him. While in the air, Chaac is immune to damage and CC. If triggered within range of Chaac's Ax from Thunder Strike, Storm Call will super-charge, dealing additional damage and also knocking up enemies.
Ability: Ground
Affects: Enemies
Damage: Physical
Radius: 35
Damage: 150 / 200 / 250 / 300 / 350 (100% of your physical power)
Silence Duration: 3s
Additional Damage: 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (20% of your physical power)
Cost: 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120
Cooldown: 90
*Evil vilian laugh* MUHAHAHA, three second silence, and damage immunity! This is Chaac's ult, that people complained on /r/Smite a lot too, because of the damage immunity and long silence. It isn't really that OP though, it has meh damage (for an ultimate), and has a low radius. A Thunder Strike Axe is very recommened because of the extra damage. Be careful not to miss it! It happens very often.
Now, here is the list of items I recommended above. I'll say which item is best of the list on the items, and make sure to note you can still change the order or items you get, I'm not forcing you.
- Warrior Tabi versus Ninja Tabi: Warrior is good because of it's penetration, and is good unless your team is really squishy. Ninja has a 15% CDR, which is good because you are quite ability based. Make sure to note it is also cheaper, which means you can also buy a few mana potions while you are at the base.
- Hide of the Urchin: Now this is a quite underestimated item. It gives you 65 protections (Both magical and physical, which is a total of 130!), health (Although that isn't really good because he has a heal), and much needed mana. Pick this if there is only one physical and four magical on the enemy team, or 2/3 physical or magical enemy team. Usually best second item.
-Witch Stone: Why? Because of Rain Dance. If it stacks with the ability, then it slows attack speed by 40% when fully leveled! It also gives physical protections and some really good movement speed, and the attack speed is nice too.
- Runic Shield: This is the item to take if all of the enemy team is mostly magical. Sadly, we don't have a good magical protection and mana item, so you will have to utilize Overflow more often.
- Shifter's Shield: Used to be called eye of retaliation, this item is great if you are fed, which means you won't have problems being hit too much and have some money. Gives an average of 50 physical power and 40 protections, although it's quite costly.
- Jotunn's Wrath: This is a great item, it has mana, physical power, physical penetration, and CDR. Lot's of the stuff you need for Chaac.
- Titan's Bane: This hammer smells from penetration. Get this if the enemy team has a lot of protections.
-Winged Wand: Even 10% of a movement difference is really good at escaping and chasing enemies. Also slow immunities are essential when fighting against Ao Kuang and Ymir, and that darn Nemesis. The 10% movement speed buff can also make you have an alternate Hastened Fatalis passive, when combined with Rain Dance.
- Deathbringer: As it name says, this bad boy brings death to all. It's quite costly though, and you need Malice too.
- Qin's Sais: A great item, deals ton of damage, this is what I'll recommend as a fourth or last item.
- Rage: Because of the critical hit item changes, Rage is better over Malice, because the passive doesn't stack - it only refreshes on each critical hit. Goes well with Deathbringer.
- Sovereignty: Haven't tried it too often, but heard it's one of the best items. Pick if there are a lot of physicals, and that you already did Deathbringer+ Malice.
-Meditation: Take this if the enemy team has low CC, low burst damage! and low mobility. It removes the need of any mana items, but permanetly consumes one ability slot (You cannot sell abilities, so choose wisely!).
- Aegis Amulet: Get this if the enemy team has hard CC, and Beads and Storm Call immunity aren't enough. Especially good against Poseidon, Ymir, Ne Zha, Thanatos (Note the place he aims is not under him)
- Aegis Pendant: Get this if the enemy team has a lot of damage, if you get focused often, and Storm Call's immunity isn't enough.
-Sprint: This active is quite underestimated by lower leveled players, but this is a pretty amazing item - you could escape almost every situation and chase every enemy, but only every 60s.
- Purification Beads: Take this if the enemy team has high CC. Counters Ne Zha's ult like hell.
- Shielded Teleport: Get this to quickly teleport to a tower, and it's conquest/joust. Recommended if you're outpushed.
Here I'll put how I usually play the game with Chaac.
Here, I put the list of counters to Chaac, enemies Chaac counters, and allies he is good with. I haven't really checked this too much, so some stuff are quite wrong, and there isn't much on the list. You can add to it!
Allies
Sobek can go quite well with Chaac. Chaac can use his three to slow an enemy, and making it easier for Sobek to land his trollodash, and also make it harder for the enemy to get back because of the slow. Also, his dash gives an easy opportunity to use your ult.
Enemies
Ao Kuang can easily run away from you while you AA him, using his 1, 2, or 3, and also damage you a lot using 1 and 3 if you are AAing him. Also outpushes you really hard.
Ra can really outpush Chaac and has equal **health** sustain to him. You are most likely going to lose the tower with in 10 minutes even if you killed him ten times.
Nemesis counters Chaac, because she gives no ability to utilize your passive, leaving you with zero mana pretty quickly early game, which means you will also not be capable of using your three to sustain.
Neith couters you because she can root and escape Rain Dance easily, and escapes Storm Call easier than other gods with escapes.
Counters
Vulcan can be easily countered by Chaac because you can simply throw your axe and teleport behind Vulcan's Inferno Cannon.
Bakasura can be easily dodged with your teleport, or become immune to his attacks using Storm Call.
Sun Wukong's 72 Transformations is useless against you, if you simply teleport behind his tiger form. Actually... You don't need to teleport, simply move, you'll probably dodge it.
Kali is countered by you because of your ability to easily escape her while she tower dives, and the movement+attack speed slow from Rain Dance is very good against her. Also note you have more defense and sustain than Kali.

I think u made a mistake in the Item section. You say that "Rage is better over Malice, because the passive doesn't stack but only refreshes on each critical hit" but Its the opposite. Malice refreshes and Rage stacks.
That one was Just a typo, you're right.
@subzero :
There are 2 heal that doesn't scale, guan yu and ah muzen cab
There are 3 heals that don't scale - Guan Yu, Ah Muzen Cab, and Hercules.
STILL NEEDS A SECTION ON TEAMFIGHTS!!!
The items choices are pretty logically organized. I like how you updated, but your new gameplay section is mainly early game. I think you can ADD A SECTION ON TEAMFIGHTS!!!
I'll upvote since you've updated, but I really want to give a neutral vote -_-
Thanks for actually giving constructive criticism, I've added more to gameplay, although it's probably not enough. And I actually kind off do sit glued to /r/smite :'|
P.S: Chaac needs a buff :P

@Razemage: Ah, my mistake.
There are 2 heal that doesn't scale, guan yu and ah muzen cab
Build
Good flexibility in the build, which looks good.
Item Explanations
They're alright. Could be better, and I think you should try Qin's Sais, which are just broken on Chaac. Same for The Executioner. Chaac is a bruiser who relies on sticking around in a fight, and the debuff from The Executioner can also help any physical allies. Basically a void blade, except for one target.
Skill Explanations
Some of it is good, but some of it is bad, For instance, we already know that Rain Dance has physical power contributions. I mean, there is exactly ONE heal in this game that DOESN'T scale. This kind of useless info is in this section, and I dislike it.
Also, I think you underestimate Torrent a bit (100 protections from using it on a minion wave), but the rest is alright. You could go a little more into detail, like using the axe throw of doom to poke enemies from a stupidly broken range and the stupidly huge radius making it undoddgeable.
Gameplay/Guiding
None. Zero. This is not a good thing. You need to add some gameplay.
Details and Other Stuff
I like the title.
Your data could be a bit more organized. For example, the huge list on the items section would be more accessible if it were divided into, say, "Core Items," "Third Items," "Last Items," stuff like that.
And for pros and cons, I think a pro would be "This is a broken god." I hate Chaac. Also, your repeated mentions of /r/Smite give the impression that you sit glued to your chair reading it 24/7.
The counters section is odd. I think just splitting it into allies and enemies would be good, and you could catergorize each enemy entry to see how difficult they will be to deal with.
Summary
The skills and items are...adequate, I suppose. But I'm giving this a downvote because of the lack of guiding, and nothing compensating for that.
If you add some gameplay in the future, and want to change my vote, feel free to send me a PM.
