Hello everyone Amphirite here with another smite guide. This guide covers Chang'e, the faerie/goddess/whatever-other-female-position of the moon. I never expected to see her in smite but she became my favorite support-ish mage the first day I got her. For those of you who don't know, Chang'e is a dancer who lives by herself on the moon with a jade rabbit. After her re-ascension, she usually attended the Jade Emperor's parties as the main attraction, as shown in the backstory of Ju Ba Jie, one of Sun Wukong's allies. She does have an interesting story which you will find in the lore section of her god page. In smite, she is a hel-like character who can evade attacks easily and can stay on the battlefield for an extended period of time. Her abilities all involve, you guessed it, dancing, and you will be utilizing all of these abilities constantly with these builds. But enough said, let's get on with the guide shall we?
I think she needs more ribbons.
Fun fact: In the god reveal video, it says she waits to reunite with her husband Houyi. Yeah...about that -._-. He's dead. He was beat to death by a peach wood club after Chang'e's ascension because of his unpopularity and jealousy. He challenged a guy to a shooting contest and the guy killed him. I wonder if Chang'e knew about this.
8/28/13:
When will they STOP NERFING CHANG'E =*(
- Crescent Moon Dance now has a cooldown of 5 seconds (not a really big deal)
- Moonlit Waltz now lasts for only 1 second (instead of 1.4) and Chang'e looks like she's on crack when doing this (seroiusly Hi-Rez?)
10/2/13:
- Moonlit Waltz has now been increased from a 1 second duration to 1.2 seconds
- Waxing Moon's base damage haz been lowered a bit (not by much)
-instead of Soul Reaver, you can use Rod of Asclepius. It provides more healz, magical power, and precious movement speed all in one package
Pros:
-VERY evasive and high mana sustain with Moonlit Waltz
-high health sustain with Moonflower Dance
-can chase very easily with passive
-can reduce healing with Moonflower Dance
-many escape combos with all abilities
-ultimate deals a lot of damage and has a consecutive increasing stun per enemy
Cons:
-squishy if going AP and mana hungry (like most mages)
-if all abilities are used when escaping and the enemy is still after you, you're screwed
-rabbit can get annoying (and why the accent?)
-low damage and has a somewhat short range
-very weak early game
Ability One: Crescent Moon Dance
This is your only damaging ability besides your ultimate. Use it often to keep enemeies at bay and to chase ones with low health. Also use it to escape (protections buff)
Ability Two: Moonlit Waltz
Chang'e's slippery-ness comes mainly from this ability. This is probably the only move that you don't want to spam. Like Ao Kuang, if ability 2 is on cooldown and if the enemies are aiming for you, you're screwed. Use it to charge into the enemy's abilities to regain mana.
Ability Three: Moonflower Dance
This is your heal. Although it is not really good as a team heal, but it does heal yourself for a better amount per ally healed. Try to get as many allies healed as possible but don't spend too much time trying to do this.
Ultimate: Waxing Moon
Holy **** this ult is awesome. Although it is not too powerful damage-wise, the chain stun effect is what makes this one great. Each consecutive enemy is stunned for one more second than the last one. You can get up to a max of a 5 second stun (if you are lucky)!
This is my personal favorite AP Chang'e build, complete with extreme cooldown reduction and decent power. This is my preferred build, however you may change some of the items to adjust to your play style. Chang'e is one of those gods can be built in many ways, whether it be AP, hybrid, or tank
Item 1: Shoes of Focus
This item will be used in all of my three builds for two reasons. One:THE COOLDOWN REDUCTION. This way, you can spam your moves and annoy the enemy. Also, the speed helps (like all boots).
Item 2: Chronos's Pendant
How to be more annoying: GET THIS ITEM.
Item 3: Soul Reaver
It may be expensive but it will be the main reason why you land your kills so easily (combined with your ult). The magical power and mana helps as well.
Item 4: Gem Of Isolation
As usual, this item will be included (cause this is an AP build and you want to slow your opponents down).
Item 5: Rod of Tahuti
Magic for the win
Item 6: Bancroft's Talon/Obsidian Shard
This last item will be of your prefrence. You will want either lifesteal or more damage by this point. Choose one.
I will be covering these two builds in less detail as they are self-explanatory. The first one, the hybrid dancer, allows for decent defense and a good amount of damage. This is what most people prefer when building this character.
The second build is a tanky one and is meant for, you guessed it, trolling. Not only does it allow for the spamming of your moves, but also you are able to rush in and escape without any damage (if you are smart) while your teammates try to escape from Ares's chains or Poseidon's Whirlpool while trying to mimic you. Trust me, they'll be screaming in pain afterwards.
Both of these builds include Shoes of Focus, Focused Void Stone, and Magi's Blessing. Shoes of Focus are a staple of my builds for this character as cooldown reduction is of my up-most importance. The Focused Void Stone not only provides decent magical protection and power, but it also provides magical penetration. Why? As gamer xXSlyFoxHoundXx would say, "Cause everybody loves penetration! (if you know what I mean) (insert laugh here)." Magi's Blessing just took steroids and now makes it easier for you to escape (if it wasn't easy enough).
As suggested by the comments below, I have made an alternate AP build. I do not prefer this one over the previous AP build but you may like this one. It takes advantage of Chang'e's extreme cooldown percentages with Spear of the Magus and Polynomicon.
This character is now the slippery-est character in the series (replacing Bastet). Because of her little damage capability, the best way to play her is by building her to spam abilities. By spamming I mean having AT LEAST TWO COOLDOWN ITEMS. Other than that you are fine. I will be outlining just about every situation you can get with her.
Solo Laning:
Simply put, this is NOT A GOOD IDEA. (unless in joust). You are extremely prone to ganks and since you will be probably the most annoying character...yeah you get the point. Unless your whole team constantly buys wards, it is best off not to do solo laning.
Duo Laning:
Chang'e is meant for two things, one is duo laning. Her abilities are suited for this situation and with the right teammates, you will push your lane until no towers are left. In order to do this, you need to make sure to spam your heal so that your teammate's health is usually full or almost full. You also need to know how to chase the enemy without becoming a victim such as when an enemy Arachne starts chasing you while you are chasing a badly wounded Neith who you struggled to kill as your teammate is at base. There are a few gods that are not suited for Chang'e. I will be listing god compatibility later on in this guide.
Ganks/Arena:
This is the second situation that Chang'e is most suited for. Every single one of her abilities makes her a reliable ganker. Use your ultimate either to initiate or finish ganks. You should have no problems escaping either (unless if you were bored and decided to use all of your abilities at once). If you're in arena, just follow the rules for duo laning and ganking.
Jungling:
NO....JUST......NO. You are support, not a jungler. Plus, your rabbit always trails behind you and it never shuts up when you use abilities. It also leads enemies towards you when its carrying an item.
Fire Giant/Gold Fury
Follow the steps for duo laning.
Pushing:
Chang'e is a medium pusher. Her heal is not very strong and her only non-ultimate damaging ability is not very powerful either. However, when your entire build is complete, you can sneak in up to 3 waves of minions that are almost unharmed (if there are no other gods around). Make sure to hit as many enemy minions as possible with you 1st ability and to heal all of your minions (if and when possible).
How to Play Throughout the Game:
This will be up to you. Since you are a support character, you can play Chang'e however you want (if you know how to time her 2nd and 3rd abilities) . Charging in, ambushing, chasing, you name your method, you can do it.
This is a general list of which gods are suited (or not) or good (or not good) against Chang'e.
Good Lane Partners:
-any magical hybrid tank with lots of crowd control(aka Hades, Bacchus, Vulcan, etc.)
- Arachne (her extreme slows and pull allows for easy targeting)
- Artemis (her slow and two stuns/roots also allow for easy targeting)
- Cupid (all of his abilities are beneficial to you)
-all bruisers
- Neith (her root and other abilities allow for easy targeting without getting killed easily)
Bad Lane Partners:
-any AP mage
-any support mages
- Bakasura (no abilites that allow for range and squishy)
Easy Enemies:
- Anubis (just keep spamming, just keep spamming, just keep spamming, spamming, spamming)
- Anhur (dance while he ults anyone?)
-any high crowd control tanks (your 2nd ability)
- Fenrir (too predictable)
- Hun Batz (I think you know where I'm going now)
- Eset
- Loki (thank god)
- Odin
- Zeus
Hard Enemies:
- Aphrodite (SO FREAKIN SLIPPERY)
- Athena (she can troll you easily)
- Kali (dat sustain and power)
- Ra (can over-push you)
- Vamana (can easily kill you combined with tons of sustain)
- Vulcan (will keep you stuck in a corner with his turrets)
Chang'e is one of the best magical support gods out there. Her abilities give great benefits to her teammates and she is the only god who can restore mana using abilities. She's like a walking Aegis Amulet that heals, damages, and stuns. She is also flexible with builds as her moves are mixed. This just about sums her up. Thank you for your time. Comments are always appreciated.

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

After you've done that buy Warlocks Sash
After Warlocks It's Chronos Pendant .
Rod of Tahuti, Penetration item. Trust me people. Plus I only back like once a game if even that.
I like the fact that you suggested Gem of Isolation, few people consider the use of this item on a peeler-built Chang'e. But this takes me to ... :"As usual, this item will be included (cause this is an AP build and you want to slow your opponents down)."
AP? I bet new players come here to learn the basic notions of a god and maybe Smite (such as Magical and physical power), not other MOBA's notions. Also, you should reason why to get each suggested item as well as its uses, situational order and so on.
Really? :"How to be more annoying: GET THIS ITEM." :)
No situational items (compensated by additional builds though), no actives... an active-less Chang'e is dead in a teamfight if focused. Heavenly Agility or Improved Sprint at least and Greater Purification should be there.
In the 3rd build the picking of Wall of Absolution over Breastplate of Valor is questionable, but this is my opinion.
If you'd like to further expand this guide I suggest explaining the use of her abilities in teamfights, her role in a teamfight, combos, situational items, actives, purchase order between items and actives and explaining the use of each of the items.
I can't upvote this guide but I am not cruel enough as to downvote either as I can see the effort put in writing this.
Note:Chang'e is Messi in smite,no **** xD
I learned the Spear over Shard thing from him, so go with it :P
I'm slowly learning to not like Soul Reaver because the passive, while nice, is too uncontrollable and the minute cooldown just doesn't work for me.
As for the guide itself, you could always add more information. What you have here is good, but some parts (ie. your gameplay section) are somewhat vague. Add more details, such as early/mid/late gameplay, getting buffs, working with team members. Maybe a bit more detail as to why the players should pick the item.
Also, add more pictures. Pictures are nice. Other than that, the guide is good. Could be better, and I think you can do such a thing.
I'd also consider Spear of the Magus over Obsidian Shard, as it requires 208 Magic Protection for shard to penetrate more than spear, and with her cooldowns it's very very easy to get 2 stacks on the spear. Remember, you CAN take enemies into negative protections, making them take more damage, so spear is invaluable against Carries, Assassins, and Mages that don't take Voidstone.
I'd also be careful of taking Soul Reaver. The fact that you can't choose when to trigger it (and thus possible triggering it on very light poke that's not meant to be a hard engage), may make it a very useless item for 60 seconds at a time. Polynomicon is much better, as the 100% scaling will inevitably prove better utility than 15% on a target with less than 2,000 health. Let's say you ONLY* (that's a little) have 500 MP. Polynomicon is 500+(.35 x 500) = 675 damage after every Crescent Moon Dance, whereas a Soul Reaver is a one time proc of between 300-600 health. It will do 600 damage literally only to a tank with 4,000 health, before protections.
TL;DR, Polynomicon > Soul Reaver by a mile and a half based on damage #. Lifesteal awesomesauce too.
All in all though, amazing guide.
