Now this is how a Jungler usually starts, except for the Meditation Cloak. There is a reason for this. Daji's "Trickster Spirit" also allows her to also port to teammates. With this, you can get to teammates with low health through walls and quickly heal them.
A strong offensive build that allows for HEAVY damage. Also helps with chasing fleeing enemies.
In this build, you'll be sacrificing some of your attack for better chances of getting away from a fight alive. You can also use this build if you keep dying to an enemy Jungler.

Daji is a pretty easy god to get the hang of. She is a great Assassin for both new and Ranked players alike. Daji uses quick and powerful abilities and is great for getting out of sticky situations. Shes great for chasing down enemies and being a constant annoyance with both pokes and her bleeds. So I guess we,ll learn a bit more about her now. :)
The first build allows for heavy damage. Hydra Lament gives you more mana and helps you recover mana faster. Jotunns Wrath gives more mana and cooldown reduction. Transcendence gives all 3. Hydras passive ability greatly helps Daji deal more damage after using an ability with a Basic Attack. Jotunn allows for defensive items to work less. When Transcendence evolves, you gain a massive amount of mana. This is great for Daji because her "One Thousand Cuts" takes more mana the more you level it up, in addition to the cool down reduction, which allows you to clear jungle camps a lot faster. Transcendence also gives you more Physical Power for the more mana you have.
The second build cuts back the attack that you would get for some protection. While the defense may not be much, it could still help you get out of a fight alive. Ancile makes it easier to deal with mages, since getting harmed by a magic attack makes it so they cant use any abilities for a while, making gods like Ra easier to kill. Titan's Bane and Void Shield help with dealing with Support and Solo players, since they'll be losing Physical Protection getting close to you and being harmed by you.
Please remember that you can always choose to make and test your own builds with Daji. I am only providing suggestions.
Horrible Burns(1): This causes Daji to inflict burn and additional damage for her next Basic Attack. This can tie with Hydra's passive, allowing the next Basic Attack to deal more damage. The burns deal lasting damage along with her bleed and slow the enemy for 3 seconds, while giving you haste, which cancels Basic Attack Movement Penalty, which can give Daji more time to either get away or pick off the target.
One Thousand Cuts(2): Daji will attack 4 times consecutively in an area in front of her. These attacks apply bleed from her passive to all enemies hit. Daji gains movement speed and damage mitigation from attacking enemies behind her. Reminder that she is not immune to damage from behind. She deals a lot of damage in front and can run away from enemies easily. Make the most of this moves damage by strafing while damaging a god.
Trickster Spirit(3): Trickster Spirit teleports Daji to an enemy or ally in the marked area. Hitting an enemy slows that enemy, making them easier to chase. This can also help you escape enemies by teleporting to an ally to escape an enemy. Another thing to note, is that this ability also works through walls. Making it usefull for ambushes or quick getaways.
Paolao(4): This ability should be used to bring in enemy gods from safe places like Towers, Phoenixes, and the Titan. This makes it easy to confirm kills and to group in enemies for you team to kill. However if you cant hit an enemy or enemies become CC immune to camp where you would land, cancel this ability early to throw off their timimg.
Daji's "One Thousand Cuts" is the most useful for clearing jungle cams. Try not to use your other abilities on Jungle camps to reduce having to wait on the cool downs.
Start of the match by going to Speed Buff, then Blue Buff, then Red Buff, then Purple Buff. If the enemy jungler is dead or your team haas pushed forward a lot, try to steal an extra jungle buff for your team in the enemies jungle. Remember to use the "Take this jungle buff" command and marking the map to let your team know where and what jungle buff is available.
To conclude this guide, try all sorts of play styles and Daji. She has both attacking and escaping capabilities to aid you and your team. You don't have to take everything I say here to heart, as these are just suggestions to help. Thank you and have fun playing Smite.

Also the defensive build has no 5th item. And I don't recommend rushing void shield/ancile on Da Ji. If you need brawler's it would likely be after boots. Suggestion: warrior tabi, brawler's, void shield/ancile, mantle of discord, titan's bane.
Other item considerations that aren't mentioned (but should be) might include
