The Basics

-~- --~-- -~-

In The Name Of The Moon...

Chang'e shall punish you! Move over, Serena. There's a new Moon Princess in town!

If you've come here looking for an EZ, insta-win god... you're come to the wrong place. Chang'e can be an invaluable asset to any team, but she's not someone who can faceroll to victory. This will be more apparent in the coming weeks when people get used to her.

First and foremost, she is a Support Goddess. Her greatest strength lies in keeping her team alive by absorbing damage herself. She can solo lane with the proper builds, but she was DESGINED to be at the center of team fights. This is apparent in how her heal works (she heals herself more when allies are around)... as well as in the nature of her dodge, Moonlit Waltz. As a Support Goddess, Chang'e is afforded a number of perks: survivability, mobility, spamability, and poking harassment. It can be extremely hard to kill her if you work with your team.

That said, Chang'e is not without her faults! You need to manage your resources, or you'll go OOM quite quickly. For all of her survivability, she is still a squishy mage. She is very susceptible to ganks, and often focus fired due to her strong presence on the field. Her dodge is dependent on your ability to anticipate the enemy. If you are bad at dodging in general... don't expect Chang'e to be your saving grace. Lastly, she only has ONE damaging ability outside of her ultimate. You can only poke someone so much before it's ineffectual. For example, Ra is a strong competitor. He has better movement, a slow, 4 damaging abilities, and a heal/steroid.

In closing: play safe, play smart, and you will surely make Sailor Moon proud.

Abilities

-~- --~-- -~-

Jade Rabbit

This passive gives Chang'e a sustain that rivals the infamous Hel. You can purchase items from anywhere on the map, one at a time! If you play your cards right, you will never need to return to base. That said, you NEED to build some Mp5 and get blue buff when you can. The secondary effect of Jade Rabbit is great for initiating and retreating. When using any of your abilities, you get +25% move speed with no backpedal penalty! This makes you very mobile. The downfall of Jade Rabbit is that he stands in for Chang'e's voice pack... and he has one annoying *** voice.

-~- --~-- -~-

Crescent Moon Dance

Chang'e has wonderful harass potential in this spell. It has a wide arc and a low cooldown, making it perfect for things like Gem of Isolation, Polynomicon, and even Spear of the Magus. To get the most out of this spell, you need to realize a few things: 1) It's fan shaped, and it slices from LEFT to RIGHT. 2) You can MOVE while casting it, and you get +25% move speed from Jade Rabbit. Take advantage of this!! If an enemy is barely out of your AoE, cast it anyway. You can still hit them. You can ALSO hit an entire creep wave in one shot, as illustrated below. Just move with the slice!

-~- --~-- -~-

Moonlit Waltz

This is your get out of jail free card. You are immune to everything for the duration of the dance (even ultimates like Pillar of Agony). It makes you a great bait, but beware! This is NOT a cleanse. If you are already hard CC'd (stun, root, mesmerize, sleep, silence), you CANNOT pop out like Aphrodite can. You can brace yourself to absorb hard cc, though, such as the final pull of No Escape. At the end of the animation, you will also fart out mana regen for yourself and your team. The amount varies depending on how much damage you absorbed. The mana is nice, but DON'T count on it. It's not that much unless you are bombarded with damage while dodging. It's also NOT your job to be a mana battery for the group at the expense of dying. The main purpose of Moonlit Waltz is to mitigate damage, and to proc Jade Rabbit. To this effect, you are great at tower diving.

-~- --~-- -~-

Moonflower Dance

This is a spammable heal with a rather large AoE. The more allies you heal at once, the more you heal yourself! Note: This makes it a great heal for you... but not so much for your allies. Don't wait for them to be half health before you use this. Spam it on cooldown if they need some lovin. Moonflower Dance also reduces the healing of enemies caught in the blast. This can be deadly when coupled with other heal reductions. Lastly, this spell will also heal your MINIONS. Keep this in mind when pushing your lane and taking down towers. Early-mid game, you can outright deny or prolong enemy farming. Try to heal your minions and your lane partners at the same time.

-~- --~-- -~-

Waxing Moon

This is your only form of CC. It's a long rectangle in the same shape as Love Birds. Use it wisely. It works best in conjunction with teamwork, as most ultimates do. Any god hit by it will be stunned. Each subsequent god hit will be stunned for a little longer. In addition to providing CC, Waxing Moon deals some very nice damage on its own. It can easily help you secure kills on low-health targerts. 1 - 4 - 1 is a very painful combo, especially with things like Gem of Isolation and Spear of the Magus.

Items

Sailor Moon says:

"No matter how you accessorize... Gem of Isolation is too good to pass up! It gives you HP, MP, Health and a great proc effect with Crescent Moon Dance. It's also a good idea to get some cooldown reduction. Breastplate of Valor OR Chronos' Pendant are both nice choices. Obviously you wouldn't get them both, unless you're an airhead like me! Tee hee! :p

For a more tanky build, look for Health, Protections and Mp5, with Magical Power sprinkled in where you can. I've put up some suggestions for you!

For a more magey build, focus on Magical Power, with at least one Magical Lifesteal item, and proc effects as you see fit. Example: Polynomicon."

Actives

Tuxedo Mask says:

"Meditation is a good choice. This should be enough to take care of your mana problems, with the occasional blue buff.

Heavenly Agility is great for the speed boost AND the healing bonus! What's not to like?

Purification Beads are a no brainer if you find yourself needing some anti-cc (or Aegis Amulet if you prefer). Keep in mind: Even though you can Moonlit Waltz out of most ultimates, it's still a good idea to carry a protective active for when the **** really hits the fan.

Combat Blink is nice if you just want to get the hell out of dodge, or chase someone down for the kill."

By all means, NoDex... play Chang'e. Get comfortable with her. Then, come back and tell me what is untrue about what I've said.

Hehe, I saw it wasn't listed as the main actives but that little tidbit including Aegis at the end of your guide I had to respond to :P

When you're updating the skill order remember that you get your ultimates at 5, 9, 13, 17, and 20.

Like I said, your guide has useful information and certain sections are extremely pretty. I'll give it a +1 when you "prettify" the rest of it. ~.^

For now though, I shall give you this:

Thanks! I agree with you for the most part about Aegis Amulet. I'd probably never take on Chang'e myself, which is why it's NOT listed with the other 4 actives. Still, someone might... and Aegis would be arguably more useful against someone like Anhur than beads would. I'm trying to think of a way to prettify the Items and Actives parts XD And I can't believe I forgot the skill build. I'm pretty sure the levels are wrong, but I'll fix that tomorrow.

I'm liking the Sailor Moon reference xD and the format is very pretty, especially the skills section.

One thing I must add though, is that for Chang'e, Purification Beads are superior to Aegis Amulet in every possible way.
1. While they both prevent CC from being applied, only beads removes CC already in place.
2. The cooldown is shorter on Purification Beads.
3. The 5 second cooldown reduction from beads lets her use Moonlit Waltz twice consecutively, as its cooldown will be 5.2 seconds at rank 5 with 35% CDR.
4. Aegis prevents all form of movement - a tremendous bane on such a mobile goddess.
5. She already has an Aegis on Steroids! :P

Other than my disagreement on the viability of that active, so far your guide is coming along nicely.

Again, +1 for sailor moon.
