Talaria Boots are an alternative if you're ahead or don't need to be quite as tanky
Late game swap Reinforced Greaves/boots for utility item like Relic Dagger or Winged Blade
Throw in Contagion or Pestilence if you need anti-healing
Depending on what you need
Shield of Regrowth is great if you need the MP5 and/or movement speed
Thank you so much for taking the time to check this out. I hope/plan to do my best to keep it updated and current. I've been a casual conquest player since beta... only recent started dipping into the ranked scene. And global events have most of us with a little more free time on our hands. Please don't be afraid to leave a comment! My ign is Bugnutz and am ALWAYS happy to group up and play. I'll run Horus all day.
Take care! And happy hunting! :)

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

(Guide came out before Sledge was a thing).
As Kriega1 mentioned below, the " Guardian's Blessing, 4x Healing Potion, Hand of the Gods and Boots is a better start, due to a smoother transition into his first power spike which I will explain now.
You have a better power spike on Horus building Guardian's Blessing > Reinforced Greaves > The Sledge; the prots on all of those items plus his passive synergise really well with a total of 50 power and 71 protections of each on top of base prots before stacking Gauntlet of Thebes. Building the Glowing Emerald and going straight into Gauntlet of Thebes is expensive and you need boots to be able to rotate and help your team more, yes getting those stacks online earlier can be beneficial in one way, but it is counter productive.
Other items that should make an appearance (either as situational or core) in a Support build are: Void Shield, Midgardian Mail, Spectral Armor, Emperor's Armor, Oni Hunter's Garb, Shogun's Kusari, Relic Dagger and maybe a Heartseeker. Items I would suggest removing are Genji's Guard and shield of regrowth; There are just better options to support your team, Shogun's Kusari for example provides similar stats but the passive is much more helpful for burning objectives and increasing your backline ADC's DPS.
I really like the write up, keeps things pleasant and personalised not just a copy and paste of what the abilities do. The passive by the way doesn't provide cooldown reduction it provides crowd control reduction so that needs to be changed. I would also add somewhere about the combo of dash stunning with Fracture and following it up with the knock up in Updraft equalling around a 3 second CC chain that can force an enemy to use Purification Beads. On top of backdooring the Titan you should mention the play where you know enemies are elsewhere on the map (such as a Gold Fury) and you can ult to the Fire Giant to take it before they have a chance.
All seriousness aside you've done a good job putting the effort in to make this build so great to have you here!
I starting using Glowing Emerald for it's sustain in early poke. Horus isn't the "tankiest" support early and the heal is nice to have but I found myself getting poked out in the very early game a lot. I definitely go straight into Reinforced Greaves or Talaria Boots before finishing the Gauntlet of Thebes. Seems to have been working as of late (Granted I'm climbing my way through Bronze atm).
Here I think is how my build/play style differs from pretty much everyone. I don't generally worry about building power on Horus. I entirely focus on support and instead tend to focus on aura/cooldown equipment. Which may sacrifice my own power... or even my own prots slightly (but we have our passive to help that). The Sledge is a great item, but doesn't necessarily help my ADC as much as say Sovereignty or the stacks from Gauntlet of Thebes.
Genji's Guard is often something I build when a Pestilence isn't necessary in the magical defense slot for it's CD effect. I do have Relic Dagger listed in my situational items. It's a great alternative. When ahead... Shield of Regrowth is a great mobility option. Although, I agree that I forgot to (and should have) add(ed) Shogun's Kusari.
Didn't spot to passive typo!! Thank you so much for that! Good eye. That's why we do this. :) Going to update the guide now and I'l definitely mention the combo. Seemed a little self explanatory, but you're right in that it's good to just see the numbers anyway. You don't realize it's that long while in the game and on high alert... but the numbers themselves contribute to the point being made. :)
Anywho, talking about poke. You will actually sustain back that damage you're taking with the extra 2 health pots, and still be closer to building your first core item being Reinforced Greaves (synergy with passive and nerfs to Talaria Boots make them the only best choice at the moment). So give it a try, you might feel a difference; it's less about the poke in lane and how much sooner your items come online.
Now the power in The Sledge I totally get that as a support you want to be defensive for your team which in the grand scheme of things is true. But Horus has decent scaling on all of his abilities and what I would consider to be his strongest early game threat is his constant dash stuns which hit fairly hard. So the opportunity to add power to those abilities including the heal while also staying tanky in a cheap item is more efficient than going straight into Gauntlet of Thebes that takes a while to stack and doesn't provide much until around 35+ stacks.
Anyways just give them both a try and if you like them consider the change, if not then no biggie.
The only reason I listed Talaria Boots was for the mp5 since Horus is mana heavy early. But definitely not as tanky. So a lane with light pressure or low burst might be a situation to use them. Or even a high mobility enemy team.
So then... theoretically... I wonder if it's worth the consideration to drop the Gauntlet of Thebes all together? It does take quite awhile to stack... or maybe build like 3rd instead? Skipping straight to like Sovereignty or caduceus shield. Theory crafting is hard, lol!
