The videos were made prior to the Spear of the Magus update (I believe I even mention that in the video). Since the change to the SotM, I've concluded that for this build it is the better option over the
Spear of Desolation due to its price, and overall protection shred.
The Empowered Corpse Build (aka Blink-Ah Puch or BAP) is a build I've been tinkering with for some time, and feel as though I've finally achieved a result that is both practical and functional. The video guides go into depth on many of the item selection choices, and shows the build "in action" along with the rationales behind the items themselves.
I've taken this build into Ranked Joust and had phenomenal success, as well as every casual mode with generally consistent performance (though results vary for the same reasons they vary for everyone else). This is not an easy build, and the play style for it might be more aggressive than most people will be comfortable with. I do not recommend it as a general build for Ah Puch, as it can go horribly wrong.
If you like the build, please hit the "Like" button on the videos as it encourages me to continue doing these sorts of builds and guides!
Thanks and Enjoy!
Ah Puch has many weaknesses, and many consider him to be unplayable in a number of game modes/situations. This build directly addresses these issues by increasing Mobility as well as utilizing synergistic Healing items.
Cooldown is important to Ah Puch, but anything over 30% is overkill. You can get away with 20%, and opt for
Shoes of the Magi but it will slow down your early game.
Once Ah Puch has a
Gem of Isolation he is "online" and can start to aggressively zone opponents and peel for his team.
Once Ah Puch has a
Gem of Isolation and a Shield of Regrowth he can aggressively chase and safely retreat due to the interaction of picking up corpses and the 40% movement speed increase from SoR.
Ah Puch will have different interactions with his corpses at different stages of the game. You will level your abilities up accordingly, but you should ALWAYS rush getting
Undead Surge up to rank 3 asap!
You know what Blink Rune does. Use it. Not just offensively.
In case I haven't hammered the point home: Mobility, Mobility, Mobility.
If you don't buy wards you get what you deserve.
Don't laugh off Celestial Legion Helm or Lotus Crown! If you find yourself having to box hunters or getting dove by assassins/warriors, these items will make you very hard to deal with, and still provide a significant amount of power!
if (Ares){ magis_blessing = "true"; }
Khepri and
Ah Muzen Cab both warrant if not require a
Mark of the Vanguard in order to avoid getting destroyed by their damage over time early on. Versus
Ah Muzen Cab its a good idea to hold on to Vanguard until you finish your third or fourth (non-starter) item.
Bees! is a pain, and especially bad for
Ah Puch.
Purification Beads are good, but for this build if you need to cleanse, you are probably already dead. Believe in yourself, be the
Blink Rune
Ah Puch you know you can be!
If you are getting slowed, or counter- Ah Puch'd then get a
Winged Blade instead of a
Rod of Asclepius. This will free up gold for a quicker power spike to fight your way out of a slow-lock.
