This is a guide for when you want to be extremely annoying to play against...the right team comp can even make this Vamana a viable support option, but the build is probably more suited for joust/arena.
With this build, the trick is charge into the fray and target enemy gods hiding behind a minion wave, unleash as many abilities/basics as you can, then dash out with Clear The Path, damaging and knocking up the minion wave as you exit. If they try to exploit your tactic once they realize what you are doing and bait you into a gank, you will be able to simply outrun any assassin (except for Thor/ Thanatos and those pesky ultimates).
You won't be landing any crit or doing a heck of a lot of damage unless you fully utilize Stone Cutting Sword by landing 3 basics before using any abilities, but you will cause a lot of gods to retreat and you will bank a ton of assists. If you are the support, your duo lane push will be very good.
Pros
You will be the fastest guy alive
Great support (not CC or healing, but lane pushing)
Incredible late-game, both boxing and team fighting
Cons
Decent power, but no crit and not much penetration
Can't burst gods down unless your ultimate is active
You have play very carefully early game (kind of like Bastet...get in, get out)
Clear The Path is one of my favorite moves in the game, and is your escape. It knocks up your enemies and damages them, but it is hard to control the turns. I recommend never using this to initiate, and when you escape through that minion wave go in a straight line. Once the ability stops you can start weaving if someone is chasing you.
Armored Umbrella is one of two great abilities Vamana has that does ranged damage. Since this one does more damage and since it extends out in a cone and can hit more enemies, max this one first.
Umbrellarang is the second ranged damage ability, but it goes in a straight line. This is great when you are taking on a minion wave straight on in the solo lane, but with this build you will be unleashing your abilities behind the wave and it's not as useful as Armored Umbrella.
As if you aren't already annoying enough to your enemies, activating Colossal Fury after 3 basics and your 2 and 3 is icing on the cake. If your enemies know how to play against you, they will be hanging back because damaging you just makes your ultimate last longer, but your increased movement speed will allow you to stay with most gods, even in giant form.
Boots...obviously if you are trying to build speed then start with boots. This is not an intense power build, so Warrior Tabi is a good choice...grab all the power you can.
- movement speed +18%
Stone Cutting Sword provides you with a poor-man's version of penetration, so you need this early and you must remember to actually use it as I explained above.
- speed is now +28%
Now we need to grab something that has cooldown and speed...since Shoes of Focus are not an option on physical gods, Ritual Dagger works nicely, AND provides some nice attack speed which is nice because you'll be using more basic attacks than normal for Vamana. Add in a health bonus and this item is a slam dunk.
- speed at +38%
Up to this point we haven't utilized Vamana's passive at all, so Mantle of Discord is my choice. Although it is very expensive, it is worth the cost because it gives great protection and also provides more cooldown. Your passive ability will also net you a small amount of power as well.
Masamune is a great choice now because you will find yourself boxing a lot. If your enemy has a power build (likely) you need something to even the scales a little bit.
- speed at +48%
Witchblade is just awesome with Vamana, because you get protection, an enemy attack speed debuff, and power from your passive. Once you get this item, the boxing goes from an even fight to tipping in your favor.
The final four items can be purchased in any order, so pay attention to what your enemies' builds and tactics and choose the order that suits your situation.
Relics - this guide is not great for solo, so I went with Meditation for my active because it's a great support item. If you are playing arena I might swap this with Purification or Sanctuary. Also, if you are playing support against Ares or Khepri, get Purification instead of Meditation. For my second active at level 12, I go with Curse just to be a ****.
This game gets old unless you try new things, so I hope you have fun with this. For anyone looking for a nice challenge while being really annoying to your enemies, give this a try. If you are unlucky enough to be facing Thor or Thanatos, then I'm sorry and I wish you a better draw next time around.
