is okay, but you shouldn't buy it later than your 3rd item because the damage falls off very quickly.

is a bridge item, which means it should be built right after boots or not at all because its protections and damage fall off quickly as well. Sure it has pen, but there are better items with the same amount of pen or more. It should also be sold for your 5th or 6th item.

Bran went into more depth than I did and he makes points I didn't. I don't know what mode this is for, but it's not a very good conquest build and I don't see it being very effective in other modes either. Because has to engage his enemies up close, he needs protections (both kinds, not just one), some power, and CDR. I'm also not sold on on non-nuking mages like , , and . As Bran pointed out, enemies can easily escape your ult, which means your rod is likely wasted.

Here...

Understand wanting to rush Bancroft's Talon. That can allow for some nice early aggression. That said, delaying the main strength of tankiness may see better function from rushing Warlock's Staff...or not getting Warlock's Staff at all. At this point, it's not the most preferred item. I still feel it's okay for gods that aren't too mana hungry, but you might see better use of a bit of delayed, situational tankiness, by getting Book of Thoth and Book of the Dead. Would require a change in early gameplay if you go this direction, mos def. Another option would be, again, skipping Warlock's, getting an early Stone of Binding, and considering other protection items. Void Stone is perfect, and Dynasty Plate Helm is a stop-gap of sorts (which also, it's a bridge item, so shouldn't be a mainstay in your "life steal" build...you need another item to replace it late-game), but you might also consider getting some CDR in this build.
Mystical Mail is just not preferred. Mystical provides some of that tankiness, sure, but it just doesn't deal that much damage, and except in situations where you can trap enemies in the ult, you're not going to get many ticks. Given ALSO the fact that the only pen seen in that "super slow" build is Void Stone, a lot of Mystical's passive damage will be mitigated.
As for Gem, eh...it's okay, but if an enemy has an escape, it's not like this will keep the enemy in your ult. It provides added slows to Death From Below, or slows without the need for Death From Below, but you do have a lot of control in your kit, especially with the added silence/fear. I guess if you almost "always save your 1 for escapes" then it might be more beneficial.
But that "always" statement really, really limits your effectiveness. If you're building tanky, why would you always save Death From Below for escapes? What's the point? You don't use it for initiation, you kill the main part of your burst potential. Your ult isn't strong enough for you to be an ult-bot, and you don't build any CDR to even try to ult more.
Double lifesteal (by adding Typhon's Fang) is probably not preferable. I guess it can work as long as enemies don't build anti-heal.
