Hi All, this is my first ever guide for a god, and even stranger is the fact that it is for a role that I typically hate, however after spending some time with Kumbhakarna I can safely say the sleeping giant can be one of the most fun gods to play. So without further ado This is my guide. PLEASE NOTE THIS GUIDE IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND WILL BE UPDATED GRADUALLY |
+Very good CC capabilities +Fantastic wave clear and damage with Throw Back +High tanking capabilities +2 escape abilities |
+Generally a very low damage output + Groggy Strike and Epic Uppercut are easily dodged +Unreliable passive +Slow early game |
Kumbhakarna's passive Sleepy is unique in that when your health is depleted, you don't simply die, you 'fall asleep' requiring a further 6 hits (10 at level 20) within a time frame of 8 seconds. If the team fail this you respawn with a portion of health. Personally the passive is useless in the majority of instances however it can be utilised effectively in certain scenarios. The first is when retreating, if there is only one god following you, it is possible when downed, if you have support the enemy can be interrupted with CC giving you chance to respawn. The second is when downed by an enemy with a long range attack; if surrounded by team members, or under the tower, it is possible the enemy will be unable to reach you and deal the requisite damage to kill you. Long story short I am saying NEVER expect to respawn with this when attacking, always retreat where possible. |
Throw Back is a nifty ability which will form your main wave clearing ability. It is effectively a belly bounce, causing damage to an enemy, which if the enemy is a minion bounces it away from you causing damage to all enemies in its path; minions and gods. It does quite a large amount of damage on direct impact, but by utilising a rebounded minion, multiple enemies are damaged, and the damage done to each enemy is increased. Top Tip: Whilst not technically an escape, it will provide a quick burst of speed keeping you directly out of the enemies grasp in a retreat. |
Groggy Strike is an ability which on hit will root the enemy for 2 seconds and deal damage. This ability required a charge time before firing meaning it can easily be dodged, thus it should be used as a follow up to might yawn or Epic Uppercut. |
Mighty Yawn is a fantasy CC ability which mesmerises the surrounding enemies for up to 3 seconds. If the mesmerise is interrupted, the enemies movement and attack speed is slowed. Following this up with groggy strike will make you the bane of the opponents lives. NOTE:Any damage done to a mesmerised enemy will cancel it, so NEVER wear Mystical Mail |
Epic Uppercut is a superb ability dealing CC and a decent amount of damage to a single enemy. The CC whilst very effective removes the enemy from play for 2.2 seconds, being unable to be hit by your allies. It also has a relatively quick cool down, which using this guide will reduce it down to 42 seconds, Be aware that this ability is very easy to miss so precede it with Groggy Strike or Mighty Yawn. Top Tip:Like Throw Back this ability can be used as an escape, but more effective due to it's CC invulnerability. |
Its usually an option between this or shoes of magi. As a support you dont need the extra power or the penetration, so by sticking with Shoes of Focus we gain a more useful +250MP boost, and some CDR to make us a more effective support |
The magical equivalent of Sovereignty providing health, and magical protections to you, and an aura supplying magic protections and mana regen to your allies. If you are against 2 magic enemies in your lane, take this as your third item instead of Sovereignty |
Whilst a pricey purchase as the first non-core item, the physical and magical protections it provides are second to none, whilst also providing a nice 15% cooldown bonus which will allow for you to rapidly throw out Mighty Yawn and Groggy Strike left, right and centre, providing better crown control for your carry to utilise |
The final physical protection item to buy. The great thing about Breastplate of Valor is the high amount of physical protection it affords you, whilst at the same time providing you with a nice tidy 20% CDR which will help you do your job much more effectively. |
Bulwark of Hope is the item that will turn you into a tank. Whilst providing decent magic protections and a crowd control reduction, it's passive provides you with a shield when you drop below 30%HP. However you should not be relying on the shield, it is there as a back up. |
