HI i'm TunaPotatoLord. I mainly play ranked and I am in silver III currently. This is my first attempt at a guide here on smitefire so i am open to criticism. Ever since bellona has been released, I've always loved playing her and still do. I mainly play her in the jungle, but every once in a while ill play her in the solo. So this is my guide on how to play/ build Bellona. Enjoy!

Master of War
When hit by basic attacks you gain protections and movement speed.
This helps in both fighting and escaping. This is one of the MANY reasons why bellona couters basic attack oriented gods.
Shield Bash
// A short dash that slows and switches Bellona to her sword and sheild stance
This is your initiate or chasing ability. It can be used to escape but the dash is very short so it is not a very effective one. It is easy to chain the slow with the slow from Frostbound Hammer. The sword and sheild stance is great for 1v1 situations because it can block incoming basic attacks.
Bludgeon
Spin around and then slam your hammer down doing more damage the more people you hit with the spin. Switches Bellona to hammer stance
This is your jungle/lane clear. Max this ability out first. Early into the game this ability does a lot of damage. It allows Bellona to get ahead early because of her high kill potential. The dowside is that this ability can be cancelled by any form of CC.
Scourge
Whip a scourge in a line that disarms opponents and switches Bellona to scourge stance.
This skill will not allow your opponents to basic attack, which makes it great in 1v1 situations. While in scourge stance, Bellona gains extra basic attack range and a heal every 3 basic attacks. This is bellona's sustain. The extra basic attack range also makes it easier to apply the slow from Frostbound Hammer. You will max this skill after Bludgeon
Eagle's Rally
Jump and place a flag where you land, stunning all enemies in the middle and creating a circle that buffs your team
This skill is your main form of initiation. It is very easy to combo Eagle's Rally right into a Bludgeon. It can also be used as a get away if needed. It is also on a very low cool down, so don't be afraid to use it.
1st Item
I prefer to build Ninja Tabi over Warrior Tabi because Bellona thrives of of attack speed. |
Ichaival I feel is stronger because it gives 10% more attack speed and helps you box AA based gods. Asi is good option because it gives more sustain with the lifesteal and also gives 5 more pen than Ichaival. Build Asi if you need more sustain. Otherwise build Ichaival. |
This is Bellona's core item. It should almost always be built on this god. It helps you stick to your target and also slowing their attack speed. This should always be one of your first 3 items. |
These 4 are your core defensive items. Mystical Mail is my preference for 4th item most of the time. But if your opponents have a basic attack heavy team comp(any hunters, Kali, Chronos, Freya, etc), I like to build Midgardian Mail 4th and maybe even a Hide of the Nemean Lion 5th item. If it is just a normal comp, I prefer Mystical Mail 4th and Hide of the Urchin 5th. |
The Executioner is an extremely strong item for the penetration it gives. At max stacks, The Executioner removes 16 protections and another 21% of their protections. I buy this item over Qins's Sais 85% of the time. I only build Qin's Sais if they have an extremely tanky tea comp. |
Bellona has a kit that heavily counters AA oriented gods. She could 1v1 a late game Xbalanque. Which sounds impossible, but it's not. It is important to think about the stance switches of the abilities. If possible, when fighting dont use Bludgeon stance. Scourge and Shield Bash stance are so much better in those situations. Bludgeon stance is great for clear jungle camps and provides strong wave clear. In a fight try to use Bludgeon first so that by the time your abilities go on cd, you aren't in Bludgeon stance. Some of my favorite combos are as follows.
