Introduction

Loki, the master trickster has been released! Loki is a glass cannon Melee Physical Power god. This build currently focuses on arena play. While I have not yet had a chance to play him in conquest (the classic game mode), I've played quite a few games with him in arena. This build has been quite successful and given me some extremely high k/d games!

Just a note: I have not tested this build in conquest, and I'm sure it will be slightly different. Let me know how it works if you try it!

Pros / Cons

Pros

    Great burst damage
    Excellent AoE (for creeps)
Damage scales like crazy with items/levels
    Very high damage
    Excellent escapes

Cons
    Extremely squishy
    Low survivability early game
    ...squishy

Skills

Loki's skill break down as follows (further in this guide I explain how they are used with this build):

Behind you!
Loki deals 20% more damage from his basic attacks when hitting enemies from behind.

Vanish
Loki disappears in a puff of smoke for 3s. While invisible, he is immune to slows and moves 50% faster than normal. His next basic attack from invisibility (or for 2s after) applies a bleed to his target, dealing 30/45/60/75/90 (+25% of your physical power) physical damage every .5s for 2s and reveals Loki. Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana.

Decoy
Decoy
Loki spawns a decoy version of himself that taunts all nearby enemy minions. After 3s, the decoy explodes dealing 90 / 155 / 220 / 285 / 350 (+80% of your physical power) physical damage to all enemies in the radius

Aimed Strike
Aimed Strike
Upon activation, Loki's next basic attack does an additional 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+80% of your physical power) physical damage within 5 seconds. The enemy hit is also slowed by 25% for 3 seconds.

Assassinate
Upon activation, Loki teleports to his ground target location. If an enemy god is within the radius, Loki will backstab that target doing 250 / 325 / 400 / 475 / 550 (140% of your physical power) physical damage and be stunned for 1s.

Items

Item's uses for this build as follows:

Warrior Tabi
These are standard boots for any Physical Power god. +30 physical power, +6% attack speed, and +6% crit strike chance are all great stats to maximize that damage (which we are striving to do in this build).

The Exocutioner
So in retrospect, I realized that The Exocutioner is a better item in arena than Fatalis. +20% attack speed and +30 physical power (at max level) is a great item to have early game. You can rip apart the squishy enemy gods with this as well as hurting enemy tanks with that -20 physical protection stacking debuff. All in all, a standard DPS item for arena.

Qin's Blades
Qin's Blades is a great DPS item for Loki. +30 physical power and +25% attack speed is great for stacking up that physical damage. The +150 health is nice early game in arena to add a little extra survivability. At max level you get a 30% chance on basic hit vs gods to deal 10% of target's max health as magic. This is excellent for ripping apart the squishies as well as giving their tank something else to worry about!

Deathbringer
This is also a pretty standard Physical Power item. +50 physical power, +20% crit strike chance, and +50% crit strike damage means you are going to be dishing out some serious damage and your basic attacks are going to become pretty strong.

Titan's Bane
I realized while playing Loki in arena it's nice to have a little bit of lifesteal (15%) for some added survivability, (the +150 health is also nice for this). +15% crit strike chance is simply a DPS stat. The -25% healing/regen for 3 sec on basic hit, stacking 3 times is a tank killer. Their HP regen is negated, and any support for a healing god will also be negated.

Titan's Bane
This is a nice item to get last. It's pretty much a pure +damage item to finish up with. +30 physical power will pretty much cap out your damage. The +45% physical penetration will help you cut through any physical protection the enemy team grabbed as well as giving you some nice stats to try and rip apart their tank.

Situational Items

Rod of Will
Rod of Will is purely a survivability item. I would get this item instead of Titan's Bane, but I would purchase it after The Executioner or after Qin's Blades. This is for giving you a little extra survivability against those enemy AP gods which are hassling you. +60 magical protection as well as 30% reduced crowd control durations is simply added survivability.

Devourer's Gloves
Devourer's Gloves
This is going to be a replacement item in the event you do not want to get The Executioner. It's going to be +30 physical power and +10% lifesteal at max level; obviously increasing that damage of yours. You also get permanent stacks (great, since you will likely die a few times) that add up to +50 physical power and +20% lifesteal (at max stacks).

Abilities

(Abilities how have passives while on cooldown!)

Girdle of Might
A standard damage ability. This item is going to let you buff you or your team before a gank or a teamfight. Giving +20 physical and +35 magical power for 10 seconds. While on cooldown, you get +10 physical power to increase your damage.

Sprint
Sprint
I like to get Sprint for survivability. You can use the +35% movement speed to run down a low enemy god or to run away from the enemy gods that are chasing you (you're also immune to slows). The cooldown passive gives +10% movement speed, obviously nice to quick gank or run away from a gank.

Gameplay (Arena)

It should be clear now that the focus of this guide is stacking physical power to maximize your damage while also stacking a little extra survivability (since you're squishy, remember?). As stated before, to really maximize the effectiveness of this build, only use this build for arena until I add a conquest build.

How to actually use Loki's skills

So Loki's primary goal is picking off low enemy gods in the arena. You're pretty darn squishy so hopping in with the rest of the team during a team fight will probably get you killed. I prefer to play on the sidelines paying careful attention to all the squishy enemy gods and/or those with low health. It's your job to grab that kill if they are retreating or stupid enough to stick around while you're out and about. You're going to want to focus hitting enemy gods/creeps from behind as Behind you! gives 20% more damage this way.

Vanish is going to serve several functions in the arena. This is a great spell to use when initiating a gank if Assassinate is on cooldown. It's going to make you invisible so you can sneak up on them as well as put a high damage DoT (damage over time) spell to knock down their health. Don't forget to use it to position yourself behind the enemy god! Don't be afraid to use this as an escape, it makes you invisible remember?!

Decoy is a great skill for arena as it forces enemy creeps to focus it. You can farm waves this way and protect creeps from running into your portal. You can also throw this down around enemy gods during a team fight if you're team has good CC. Positioning Decoy correctly on a fleeing enemy god can get you that last hit you weren't able to fit in before.

Aimed Strike is going to be used right after attacking with Vanish active. You're next attack is going to deal some serious damage at max level and full items. I try to use this whenever it's off cool down, even when I'm not able to use Vanish beforehand. That 25% slow is nice since the enemy will probably be trying to run away from you at this point.

Assassinate is a massive nuke doing 550 + 140% physical power damage. It teleports you to the target ground location so use it on those enemy gods with low health. It positions you behind them so you get that bonus damage from Behind you!, and gives you a second to cast Aimed Strike to deal a massive blow. If they are not already dead, pop Vanish and run them down for the kill or save Vanish for the escape after the gank. Assassinate can also be used as an escape, as it teleports you to the ground location regardless if there is an enemy there or not. I only use it as an escape as last resort as I'd prefer to keep it off cooldown and save it for a gank.

Summary

Thanks for reading this guide! It's my second guide here at Smitefire, so I tried to be as thorough and accurate as possible. If it helps you out please up-vote it! Criticism and comments are welcome as always. If you missed it before, this guide is currently only for arena. I will try to add a conquest build to it as soon as I get a chance to test some things out. If there is something you think I'm missing or should add, leave a comment below and I'll do my best to fix it!

first off, u get exe cuz it gives you good PP, and attack speed, the stacking physical debuff is just a bonus tbh. the reason fatalist is a terrible item is the shear lack of stats. also theres is something called diminishing returns on attack speed in this game. this means that attack speed % is NOT additive. many ppl think it is, which is just not true, they think o exe = 20%, qins = 25% fatalis = 35% so thats 80% attack speed!!! but this is NOT the case with diminishing returns. in reality thoes 3 items will give you about 45% or so, whreas with only executioner and qins will actuall give you about 35% attack speed, so if u want to waste 2100 gold for 10% as 10% ms and -20%cd time be my guest, just gimping yourself. as for the -cd time, u can get joutuns wrath which gives you physical power, + a bunch of mana, and we all know how starved alot of gods are so that mana is very very handy, and you get your -20% cd time.

u can also look at it this way, with fatalis i hit you for 10damage over 10seconds, whereas with heartseeker for example, i would hit u for 15 damage over 12seconds, so to make the time even, thats 120 damage over 120 seconds with fatalis or 150 damage over 120 seconds with heartseeker *these #s are based off having NOTHING else bought, ONLY fatalis vs ONLY heartseeker both rank 3*

u guys need to stop looking at the stats on single items and look at the items you are choosing as a whole, trust me if you dont believe me go play a game or 2 and build your normal build with fatalis, then play a few games with the SAME builds except replace fatalis with either heartseeker, executioner, qins, whatever you passed up basically for fatalis and see the difference in how fast u drop ppl.

This isn't true as with an exe or qins you will be doing more dps than with fatalis. This obviously makes them better. Also the health that qins give you are a great asset.

Compared to almost every build, this one is really good. I hate all of those douche bags that claim fatalis cannot be used...ever. Good Job, good build.

With any guide featuring Fatalis, there comes the people who disagree and discredit a build for including it. I find that the use of Fatalis allows me to spam skills more often early game when my attack damage is still not very high yet. 2 attacks for 1 damage = 2 damage, 1 attack for 1.5 damage = 1.5 damage, 2 > 1.5. This is simply my preferred build, I have not claimed it to be the best build, only that I have found it quite effective in arena.

There are some typos and please don't use such terms like "AD" or "AP" coming from LoL. It's so better and more meaningful to use "PP" or "MP". Anyway, I won't lower my notation for that.

I have proof-read this build several times and haven't been able to find any spelling errors :\ However, I did go through and change any mention of AD to Physical Power to make it easier to understand!

The problem is that recommends Fatalis almost at the beginning of the match.. I just can't understand this. Why would you buy cooldown reduction, movement speed and attack speed when you do not have any good items to deal damage to the enemy.

I will test out some different builds that feature purchasing it later in the match. As I stated before though, I like to spam my spells more often early game since my damage isn't that high (hence the utility of the cooldown reduction). And as I mention in the build I like the +movement speed to give me a little extra survivability early game since Loki is so squishy. But like I said, I'll try out some different purchase orders! Do you have a recommendation for it?

The problem isn't that Fatalis is in there. The problem is that recommends Fatalis almost at the beginning of the match.. I just can't understand this. Why would you buy cooldown reduction, movement speed and attack speed when you do not have any good items to deal damage to the enemy. Its like this : In the time you attack 2 times with the Fatalis you only do half the damage you wouldve done when buying another item. Fatalis is really strong in the end of the match, because then you can get 2+ attack speed AND you are still strong. But I totally don't recommend it at the beginning.
