Introduction

A Nu Wa guide by: Gusher

Hello, and welcome to my Nu Wa guide. Over the coming weeks I will be doing my best to cover a majority of the gods in SMITE to give you an updated version of my builds in use of the current meta. I feel that there are not currently enough theorycrafters out there. So I will do my best to give you a large selection of gods to learn from.

Also a side note I moderate for a wonderful streamer by the name of Desanya be sure to check her out and you can catch me on to ask any questions:http://www.twitch.tv/desanya

A guide suggestion by:

This guide was suggested by, and made for: Desanya! Hope you enjoy.

Starting Items Explained

Some of you may be thinking, woah! way too many pots. However this a standard start for gods that have to use abilities fairly often to keep from being pushed on (ex. Zhong Kui).

Starting this many pots allows Nu Wa to stay in lane and continue to farm into her mid game with more gold. Nu Wa has a fairly weak early game, the more you are in lane the better leading into mid game you will be.

Early Game

Nu Wa has a early game that is very hit or miss dependent on the player. Read the tips and tricks section to get a lot of good ideas on how to play Nu Was kit.

If Nu Was abilities are used out of order the potency of her kit is drastically decreased.

If Clay Soldiers is off CD you will want to always use it before casting Shining Metal. Not only does it apply bonus damage but also applies a stun scaling from 1 second up to 1.5 at max rank.

Lets take a look at Clay Soldiers for a moment. It is important to note that the enemy loses magical protections from the Clay Soldier's attack. Not the blow up from Shining Metal combo.

Why max Clay Soldiers over Mysterious Fog? Not only is base magical pen stronger early game than late. But Mysterious Fog actually only deals 20% damage after its first tick of damage rather a weak source to be maxing second.

Mid Game

You now have your Shoes of Focus and Warlock's Sash online. Look to rotate to other lanes and preferably have passive already up at time of gank. If ganking a lane with a ally, lead with Mysterious Fog. This adds a element of surprise to your gank.

Another important note to add is if you cast Clay Soldiers inside of your fog, they will be stealthed and your enemy will not see your cast if you as well are inside of fog.

With Nu Wa, look to wear down your enemies. Do not all in with one combo unless you are sure it will result in a kill. Not only are your Cd's long (Which is why you have Shoes of Focus. But Nu Wa has no escape when using a full combo you may find yourself in a sticky situation with nothing left to fight with.

Your Fire Shards will be at rank two - three during this phase of the game, you will be dealing a considerable amount of damage with it, be aware of your enemies health bars. Use the UI option to show enemy health bars (Default top right of your screen) to help be aware at all times.

Late Game

Your max build will give you a grand total of 599 magical power.

You now have Soul Reaver A very deadly item if used with the correct ability. It is always important to try to combo Soul Reaver with a stun to have follow up on your target, not allowing them a chance of escape. The best way to do so is starting with Clay Soldiers Wait for them to dash on your target or be in range of your Shining Metal stun. This devastating combination will instantly deal 80% of an adc's health pool. Allowing for teammates to follow up on or at the very least forcing a recall at which point your team can look to start a 5v4.

Keep in mind your Fire Shards now deals 579 magical power to all enemies before applying magical resist.

Have your Greater Aegis ready for the enemy Assassins gank on you. The two seconds will blow their rotation and should be enough time for your team to cover you. The extra HP from warlock's Sash will show its worth at this stage in the game.[/color]

Tips & Tricks

  • Using Shining Metal on Clay Soldiers Provides extra damage and a stun.

  • When ganking with an ally use Mysterious Fog to add the element of surprise on your enemy.

  • Using Clay Soldiers Inside Mysterious Fog will keep them stealthed

  • Use the UI feature that shows enemies HP bars (default top right of screen) this helps with awareness of using your ultimate.

  • Fire Shards provides CC immunity

  • Poke your enemy down before using a full combo, Nu Wa has long Cd's on Clay Soldiers and Mysterious Fog. Don't use your only escape for smaller engagements that are not going to pick up a kill. This will leave you empty handed and you may find yourself in a sticky situation.

  • Clay Soldiers apply Magical protection loss to an enemy when they attack. To maximize damage output, when able wait for this attack before using Shining Metal combo.

  • Have Greater Aegis ready if the enemy team has a Assassin, they will be looking to gank you after a team fights initial engagement. Be vocal and call this gank.

  • Don't use your Fire Shards Purely for the form of a cc immunity, the CD is far too long and the ultimate is far too viable in team fights to have down. This is why you have your beads.

Ending Statement

I hope you guys liked the guide I appreciate all and any constructive feed back and I hope this guide has opened you to many new ideas.

Good Nu Wa build. Two comments: firstly, I find Polynomicon to be enormously superior to Soul Reaver in most situations, especially when wisely charging your passive in preparation for a gank / team fight. Polynomicon can add the same damage numbers every 3 seconds that Soul Reaver adds once a minute (most squishies have about 2K max HP at level 20, giving Soul Reaver +300 dmg; this is equal to the damage of a Polynomicon auto boost at 500 AP). It's much cheaper, gives the same mana, and effectively turns your auto attack into a 5th damaging ability on a short cooldown.

Secondly, boo for the meditation hate. Meditation hate is embarrassing no good very bad hate. Stop the hate.

Teamfights: Nu Wa is a goddess that is very good on teamfights. You need to put more detail into your guide about that, and if you think what you did is enough, Then Just put it in a teamfights section, so it will be more organized.
Bbcoding: There is room for more BBCoding. For more info about BBcoding, Go to this guide:

Hello! Thank you for the review, my only question is where you see room for additional BB coding, I did not find an area where I used an item or skill where it was not placed in BBcode. Also for the "TeamFight" section I explain what you should be looking to do and how to catch your target out. All and all I appreciate the response and the upvote. I would greatly appreciate you reviewing my other guides as well, I am always looking to improve!

Advantages

- You explain Nu Wa's Basic requierments
- Build is fine
- You mention your ultimate's damage at the end of the guide.
- Some BBCoding
- Tips and tricks are solid.

Drawbacks

- Not enough BBCoding though
- Missing an items section
- A teamfight section should be a very fine addition to this guide
- Missing more items in case of emergancy or an other build.

Overall

7.3, Which is an upvote. +1

You said there was a way to show Enemy Health Bars at the top right but I don't see an option for that in the Settings menu or the HUD Editor. If there is one, where is it?

Apart from that this guide is pretty good, much better than a few other I've seen on here.

I would recommend this alternative if you have a mage solo laner who would normally build Void Stone themselves, seeing how Aura items do not stack. Otherwise, the truth is Void Stone not only provides a great deal of magical resist but also flat reduction to the opponents magical resist is rather important early-mid game. Swapping to Ethereal Staff while it will provide a greater deal of hp will in most cases still see yourself being nuked rather quickly against a high burst mid laner (ex. He Bo) by mid-late game. However if in the rare occasions you are not against a magical mid laner then Ethereal Staff is the way to go. Hope this helped you out :)

I see what you mean. Thanks for the quick reply. I hope to try Nu Wa more, although I will probably be playing Solo instead of Mid. I like to go solo more when I'm still learning a god, unless my team doesn't have a mid.

Since Clay Soldiers get 20% of Nu Wa's maximum health, would it be worth running Ethereal Staff to go with your Warlock's Sash instead of Void Stone?

Comparing builds, at level 20, full stacks, this is what Ethereal Staff changes:
+65 Magic Power
+300 Mana
-50 Magical Protections
+600 Health
+120 Health per clay soldier
-AoE Magical Protections Debuff
