Introduction

OMG! Overwatch is FUN! I may not play it, but watching it and keeping up with the news on it just makes me feel immersed. I mean, who doesn't wanna be Reaper, or Reinhardt, or Zenyatta? Leave in the comments, if you do play Overwatch, what your favorite classes are, and who your favorite hero is. Me, Soldier for offense, Hanzo for Defense, D.Va for Tank, and Zenyatta for Support. Today, we will review Ao Kuang, and his similarity to the Shimada Brothers.

Pros / Cons

Can I just say that Ao Kuang is almost as broken as Sol?

Pros
- A magical jungler
- Execute and Stealth
- Unique ability utility
- Long Range Slow
- Mediocre heal
- THE BURST IS REAL!

Cons
- Horrible clear and pressure in lane
- Too close range
- Short range escape
- Squishy
- Hard combo

Abilities

Anyone remember RetrAo Kuang?

Passive: King's Sword
When you spawn, you get 3 charges on your sword. Each charge can be used on an ability to increase its damage by 5%. When out of combat, it takes 5 seconds to fully recharge one charge. When out of mana, charges can be used to cast abilities.

Ability 1: Water Illusion
This is short range teleport that can be aimed anywhere. When activated, you are stealthed, while your water clone is left in your past position. Pressing 1 again or after 5 seconds, your stealth breaks and your clone explodes, dealing damage. Do note that if you are damaged during stealth, and DoT damage can reveal you, your clone does not explode. This can kill.

Ability 2: Dragon Call
The burst begins. Activating this ability calls 6 dragons to your side. After each successful basic attack, one dragon bites the target, dealing extra damage. You can press 2 again to access a line that will all remaining dragons, damaging and slowing the first enemy hit. This is counted as both and a basic attack, meaning that item effects apply.

Ability 3: Wild Storm
The burst continues. This is a narrow cone that fires lightning and damages. This is also a basic attack, meaning that not only do item effects apply, but so does your Dragon Call. Say you activate your 2, then fire your 3. The 3's damage will apply, the 2's dragon damage will apply, and any item effects pertaining to basic attacks apply. It makes me think if Ao Kuang is really a magical carry jungler instead of just a mage.

Ability 4: King of the Eastern Seas
This is a very small cone that reaches out to melee distance. You grab someone, stunning them, and throw them into the air, dealing damage. If they have 30% or less of their maximum remaining, you will instead eat them in midair whilst turning into a dragon. After eating them, you heal for 30% of your maximum health, and are able to land anywhere of your choosing within 200 units. In Arena, that is from your base to the enemy blue buff. After picking your location to land, you will deal damage to all enemies in the area, and turn back to human form. This recharges your sword charges. Quick Combo: use your 1 to initiate, throw your 2, as enemies can't hear you, and fire your 3 at a nearby foe. Fire the rest of your dragons to slow them. Basic them enough until you can ult them, then execute.

Items

Oh man. I'm sweating after those abilities up there. I hope that after reading those, that the builds make much more sense.

Build 1: Genji
In Overwatch, Genji Shimada is a cyborg ninja that throws ninja stars and can double. So you can imagine that speed is key. With both Telkhines Ring and Demonic Grip, your basic attacks will deal extra magical damage, and will shred protections. With your 2-3 combo, you've already taken off a quarter of their protections and applied Polynomicon's damage. If you're looking for cheaping alternatives, Spear of Magus stacks flat penetration instead of percentage, and Dynasty Plate Helm gives even more penetration and some physical protections on the side. Also, Winged Blade is to help you in case you are fleeing and get hit by an ability that slows.

Build 2: Hanzo
Don't you just love spamming arrows down the enemies' throats while you camp? Chronos' Pendant is your standard cooldown. Void Stone is an aura item that helps you. Nearby enemies get their protections reduced by 20. If you're unsure of how far is a certain amount of units, go to settings, targeting, distance line, ruler. This allows you to see how far your abilities go. On the other side, Ritual Dagger will cap your cooldown reduction so that you are able to get your abilities off more often. Lastly, Gem of Isolation gives you more slows in your kit to help you catch up to your opponents.

Build 3: Shen Ron
Every time either Krillin or Yamcha dies, the DragonBall Z crew gathers all the Dragon Balls and calls upon Shen Ron to revive them. Shen Ron is the all powerful dragon, capable of granting one's desire to destroy the world. With Polynomicon and Soul Reaver, that will be what comes of your foes who dare stand in your path. Remember the 2-3 combo. Now apply Polynomicon and Soul Reaver to that 3 of yours and wait for the life points to f***ing drop. Oh no, you're behind? Replace that Spear of Desolation with Gem of Isolation and get back in there. Not only that, but Witch Blade gives some physical protections and more boxing potential against hard hitting junglers, hunters, and tanky warriors.

Cool Skins

Gotta give props to the skin designers: they know how to make some dragons.

Final Words

Thank you for reading my guide. If you want to comment, please do so in a respectable manner. Personally, these builds have worked for me, so they're just suggestions. On the case of relics, Purification may help you against a high CC team, as it can give those needed 2 seconds of decreased to no damage. If you'd like, check out my other guides on Agni, Cupid, Mercury, Ravana, and Ymir. Good luck, have fun, and drink some IceColdPappsi if you get tilted.

I would like to thank TechnoToad64 for helping me polish the build to what it is now.

If anyone's interested, all of my guides have been updated to put all of the skins into a spoiler. Thx to TechnoToad64 for suggesting this. It really does polish it up and gives less clutter.

Your "Genji FEEDING" build still has Fatalis in it.

Also, I don't think the section on skins really adds anything. To quote nanoyam's guide to making a guide:

If you want a section on skins, maybe you should put it in a spoiler.? I mean, half the guide's length is the skin images. And some of us are on metered internet.

I'll update my guide to accomodate the skin comment. On Hastened Fatalis, did you mean for me to change all instances of Hastened Fatalis to Winged Blade? If I were to do that, would all the builds not look as if they fit the same mold? Personally, I think Hastened Fatalis is a great choice that incorporates into Ao Kuang's kit because he has his regular basic attack, his dragon basic attack, and his 3 basic attack, which can keep him moving at all times. I am not dismissing your comments, as I think they're helpful, but pls help me understand what you were trying to say. Not trying to sound rude, BTW.

If I had to choose favorite ow character per class I'd probably say...
Pharah, Reinhardt, Torb/Junkrat, Symmetra
Although to be fair I play pretty much every character. Even in ranked I play every offense hero except mccree, every tank and every healer (I tend to avoid the defense class in ranked, but I play all of them in qplay).
I would choose a favorite healer, but honestly I just really like all of them.

Attack speed Ao Kuang may not be the best idea. The build just lacks a lot of power, which is Ao Kuang's thing.

Also, just like Technotoad64 said, Polynomicon is a must on Ao Kuang You'll usually start with the 2+3 combo anyway, and after that it's all basic attack, and perhaps and ult aswell, so Polynomicon is really amazing on him.

Other than that, fairly decent.

*one, not on.

*there, not their.

Two suggestions for the build itself, I think you should include Polynomicon in all three builds, and I also think you should replace Hastened Fatalis with something else from that tree, preferably Winged Blade, since Fatalis' passive is mostly for gods that need help to "stick" to their targets, and Ao Kuang already has a stealth and slow in his kit, along with Gem of Isolation in the build. Winged Blade gives movement and attack speed just like Fatalis does, but with added Crowd Control Reduction and Health that will help you stay alive in a difficult situation.
This is just all just suggestion, I don't play Ao Kuang much.

To my understanding, Ao definitely doesn't need or want Fatalis, and definitely wants Poly, and Fatalis is present in all builds. I know you can build for attack speed using Demonic Grip or Telkhines Ring and have it work sometimes, but prefer to see CDR as standard.
