With the whole "extra attack speed and Fatalis" thing, you might be tempted to hold left click and spam rock shift at them, but notice how activating the buff counts as using an ability. I have Polynomicon as core here because if you activate the buff and then land your first attempted basic attack, the extra damage from the buff is applied at the same time as the extra damage from Polynomicon. This extra damage is equal to 50+70=120% of your magical power. For a guardian, this is insane scaling!
This combo right here is why some people call Cabrakan "Fat Loki", and you'll see why in a minute.

I'd suggest, on the first build, that your first set of items is a final build example...this first line is what is displayed when people search in the guide listing.
In Solo, I think I can figure out how I'd build him. Obviously there's some counter-building going on, so depends partially on your lane enemy and the Jungler type.
Starters, making him initially tanky should work well...I see you have Warlock's Sash in the list of "raw power" items, and that might be a good starting item for him. Not so sure about the other stacking items being good for him. I'd be scared to get those myself, but I suck, so...
Shoes list is fine, and in Solo, I'd probably default to
For the first true counter-build protection item, if against physical Soloers, I don't think
Against a magical Soloer, if they have healing,
Not sure how I'd finish up...would depend a lot on how the match is going and what enemy comp is, but I'd really consider adding
I have no clue how Poly works with him. Guessing it can be pretty nice extra damage?
Anyway, those are my thoughts so far.
Also, Valor and Poly are definitely needed.
I see you've moved Warlock's Sash to item #1 in most situations...would you still consider
