This build works for most mages in my experience but for him in arena its unstoppable. The first game i played as him i used this build and finished with 15 kills and only 4 deaths so your survivabilty is quite high and the damage you do with your 1-2-3 combo after landing a first hit with a basic kill most gods instantly. Hope you guys enjoy this build as much as i do!
*This is my first guide if any recommendations just let me know
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

and i know i butchered the leveling order in all i honest i should have just left it out until i knew for sure
looking at the build now whats your opinion
Also my preference for starter item for arena is to skip getting a starter and just build into a tier 2 for your first power item or boots, e.g.
I get the idea of getting
Also, if you're building that stacking, you might want to rush more quickly than that...say, immediately after shoes. To help rush Staff, you might then decide to completely drop getting a blessing at all. If I wasn't stacking, I'd consider the blessing more, but with Warlock's, I'd probably bypass any blessing altogether.
In the end, the rest of the build order is up to you. You may want earlier damage, to which end you'd prioritize
So...for me, my own preference for a stock build would be to grab the mana buff,
But this is your guide. Continue experimenting and see what you like the best.
