Introduction

Athena is a magical tank in Smite (although i considered her to be a bruiser) She is the first girl to be a tank. Being a god of Wisdom.......... Let's just skip this

I made this guide just for fun although it can be used (not so bad) I would not recommend using this one in any serious game or competitive. But i still keep this guide to be a guide

Enjoy and please upvote :D

Pros and Cons

All Damage Build
Pros
+ Super high damage
+ Crazy Damage
+ Cool Damage
Cons
- Not high health
- Low sustainability

Tank Build
Pros
+ High Sustain
+ High Defense
+ Not so low damage
Cons
- Not as high damage as build 1
- Hard to get a kill (assist is no fun:P)

Skills

Reach
The passive is very nice one. With this, you can use your ability even without hitting enemy but after that having a ranged damage which will help you secure a kill. Somehow, Hi-rez haven't included that she deals magical damage and has 3 chain strike with stronger but slower attack.

Preemptive Strike
A nice close gaping skill as it will slow enemy and also clearing waves. As in build 1, it is really good because it has 50% magical damage. Other than that, in build 2, you can initiate with this. When chasing a god, don't worry not hitting the enemy as you will gain Reach

Confound
This is a nice distraction. In build 1, you can build it to bring your enemy to you and let you hit them. In build 2, it will help your ally when they run away or bring the enemy to your ally. It can also help you when chasing enemy if the enemy is close to you but you still can't hit them

Shield Wall
A nice damage bringer. In build 1, you can use it to damage the enemy and kill them. In build 2, it can help distract enemy as well as let ally run away.

Defender of Olympus
This is a unique ultimate. In build 1, you can help secure the kill as long as your ally is close to enemy. In build 2, you can help defending your ally when they are in low health.

Combo
Build 1
In build 1, you will be the damage giver as opposed as you usually be :P A good combo will be 3, basic attack, 2, basic attack, 1, basic attack. If you already complete your build, you will have huge damage with this. Magical damage = around 700 : Total damage = 180+360+350+350+350+350+280+350+350=2920 magical damage :D
Build 2
In build 2, you will be the tank. You will save your ally. There is no much combo here but you should save your ally with your 1 and 2. Also, use your 2 when ally is about to gank.

Items

I will not cover much about items. Just a small one

Build 1
Complete all your core and don't forget to farm with 3 and Reach to gain stacks. If you are having trouble with physical enemies, buy Hide of the Nemean Lion as 3rd/4th item. If you are having trouble with magical enemies, buy Void Stone. If you have no problem, buy Gem of Isolation
Build 2
In build 2, have all the core items in this order Boots 1st, sovereingnity 3rd or 4th, rod 6th. Now, here is how to take which physical or magical
PE = Physical Enemies ME = Magical enemies PI = Physical Items MI = Magical Items
PE 5 ME 0 = PI 3 MI 0
PE 4 ME 1 = PI 2 MI 1
PE 3 ME 2 = PI 2 MI 1
PE 2 ME 3 = PI 1 MI 2
PE 1 ME 4 = PI 0 MI 3
PE 0 ME 5 = PI 0 MI 4 Sell sovereignity

Gameplay

Not gonna cover much because you already have combo. Just try to kill enemy with build 1. And always see your ally's health in top left and save them with your ulti in both build.

Good Lane Parter

Build 1
A high cc and support will be nice :
Ymir
Bacchus
Vamana
all other tanks
Build 2
A high damage will be nice such as :
Loki
Freya
Ne Zha
Artemis
Neith
Apollo

Ending

Thanks for reading. This is only for fun, don't try this at competitive. If you wanna see a real good guide see comicbookguy's guide here

No need to upvote if you don't want but i would love it. But, please don't downvote. Thanks.
See you next time
