Ymir - Jungle Adaptation

Ymir - Jungle Adaptation

Welcome to my guide for Ymir, father of the frost giants!

I am a casual player who primarily plays conquest.
Ymir is a suport god, but he works very well in the jungle with a build focused in the basick atack power.

Skills

Skills

Frostbite - The Ymir's passive is the most important element of this build, because after using a skill in the enemy he is marked and your next basic attack that same enemy cause double damage.

Ice Wall - This skill invokes an ice wall, which is important to block basic attack damage and some skills, escape and help allies escape, and prevent enemies from escaping. Not applicable Frostbite.

Glacial Strike - This skill is Ymir's most damaging skill, but it is difficult to use so try to stun the enemy before. Apply Frostbite.

Frost Breath - This skill stuns the enemy by freezing it. Apply Frostbite.

Shards of Ice - This is Ymir's ultimate, he freezes the ground around him for 3 seconds causing slowness in enemies, but does not forbid the enemy to use escape skills, so it's important to stun the enemy with Frost Breath before, and put the [Ice Wall] behind the enemy to make it difficult to get out of the ultimate area, at the end of the 3 seconds his ultimate explodes causing damage, you can cancel the ultimate anytime but cause less damage. Apply Frostbite.

Items

Items

Polynomicon - With that item your next basic atack after a skill will have an additional 75% of your Magical Power, that matches with Frostbite which increases your basic atack on 100%.

Winged Blade - This item is important because when you are hit by a slowness effect, in addition to leaving you immune from further slowness you still get another 20% speed for 4 seconds, this every 30 seconds.

Spear of Desolation - This item decreases 1 second of all its cooldowns when you earning a kill or assist. The Cooldown in this buil is very important, your basic atack just be strong after a skill, so the more you spell, the better.

Situational Items

Divine Ruin - This item is only required against healing and high regeneration gods, it decreased the heal in 40%.

Mantle of Discord - This item is important against gods melee focused in basic atacks, like: Arachne, Loki, Erlang Shen

Genji's Guard - You need this item if the magical damage of enemy team is very high an you are the focus, besides the magical protection your cooldowns are decreased by 3s every time you take magical damage from skills, and you need your skills

Rod of Tahuti - Use this when your enemy have a very magical protection or life, you gain 25% additional power againts enemy below 50% health

Warding/Rote/Gank

Warding

Green - For atack Fire Giant and Gold Fury.
Red - Anti invader
Yellow - When your team is losing
Blue - For invader
Purple - Sentry wards

Rote

Remember, Ymir isn't a jungle, so he isn's a god with mobility!
Start with Speed Buff and follow the arrow in the image, after Mana Buff (not necessary if Solo is Cu Chulainn verify if the Totem of Ku is alive yet. After level 5 you can go to "little gold furys". The purple circles is where you can invade, but isn't advisable with Ymir.

Gameplay

Gameplay

Early Game

Star the game with Glacial Strike, this way you can clear the jungle fast. Don't use Frost Breath in objectives of jungle, this skill is better for stun. After you make Polynomicom starts to get easier, so dont worry. You can gank after level 3, starts with mid, and sometime go to solo and dual.

Mid Game

Now youre strong, gank frequetly, its time you carry. Ward gold fury aways possible. Gank the lane most impaired.

Late Game

In late game youre strong, but be carefull YOURE NOT A TANK. Focus the mage and ADC enemy, isolate them of the team fights and spell skills. Ward the Fire Giant with Sentry Ward, buy Chalice of the Oracle for more wards. Use Potion of Magical Might and when possible Elixir of Power.

Junglemir is a fine concept. Not sure I personally like the build.

I feel Polynomicon, while a great item for him in a damaging role, should be built later, since the damage scales off of power.

I don't personally like Shaman's Ring on him, though I know he appreciates higher MS.

Obsidian Shard can be fine too, but it's built way too early in this build. In addition, I'm not actually sure I'd go for Shard. I'd probably just get more flat pen (e.g. Shoes of the Magi, Divine Ruin, Spear of Desolation as options) and protection reduction ([[Void Stone, which is completely missing from the options but should almost be core IMO).

Should also have some more physical protection options. Maybe Celestial Legion Helm as an early option. Some other CDR options should also be considered later.

Ability leveling seems fine. I might consider delaying the 2nd point in the ult to max Glacial Strike at 9, just because it will be used multiple times between an ult, and has very strong base damage and low CD.

Would you consider Shoes of Focus, Celestial Legion Helm, Spear of Desolation, Void Stone, Polynomicon, Mantle of Discord to be a suitable compromise? Maybe switch Stone and Spear? I'm trying to find a Ymir build for my friend.
