Introduction

Hello and thank you for reading this so far!... okay, that's it, bye!

Okay, I would definitely say that Thor is my favourite God to play, especially considering his damage and speed regardless of item improvement.

But that's only my opinion. I don't think I'm a professional player, at all, this self-made load-out however has improved my game-play with Thor substantially since I made it.

Please consider giving me a +1 or if you think something can be done better, leave a comment below. I'd very much appreciate it!

This guide will be edited gradually so stay tuned.

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • High damage and speed
  • Considerably durable mid to late-game
  • Very good gank from any direction
  • Rarely needs to return to base
  • Good sustain with Meditation
____________________________________________________________________________________

Cons
  • Squishy early-game
  • No instant escape
  • Stunned easily

Items

If built incorrectly, you can and will fall behind, you'd need to work on jungles and minions, and avoid enemy Gods, 'til you're back on track.

By building Thor with this guide it is best to use Mjolnir's Attunement to jump into combat, Berserker Barrage the enemy and basic attack your way to victory. Using Tectonic Rift on those who try to flee and Anvil of Dawn if they manage to escape.

In this build, basic attacks are your best friend, abilities are a bonus. So lets start on detailing items.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Healing Potion

Purchasing at least 2 Healing Potions at the start of the game is advantageous as you'll need to help teammates with jungle buffs, or grab one yourself. If you have a tank allow them to pull the minions. If you haven't however, these are useful for you to do that.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Greater Meditation

Start the game with the base Meditation and if you feel the need or have excess gold, purchase the upgrades for improvement. If you're running out of mana frequently, use this item when you're under 10%, as it has a long cool-down and that is when it's most efficient.

This will allow you to hold the enemy Gods back with Mjolnir's Attunement and kill the minions with either the same ability or Berserker Barrage when you're in the clear, for longer sustain time so your teammates are able to return to base if necessary.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Greater Purification

Purification is only required if the opposing team has a lot of stuns and crowd-control. Against Hades' ultimate for example, and with your increased speed, this'll make for a useful escape.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Warrior Tabi

This item is very useful early-game for dealing with jungle buffs and minions, and escaping if necessary, resulting in faster lane clear, gold and level up. If you have the advantage of course, it'll help deal a lot more damage against Gods than they can mitigate.
____________________________________________________________________________________

The Executioner

Increasing attack speed this much early-game is one of the advantages of Thor as his basic attacks are already relatively damaging, with the added passive, this results in being able to wail on enemy Gods in short bursts and escaping with Mjolnir's Attunement, leaving the opponent to return to base for extra lane push time or be finished by a ranged teammate.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Qin's Sais

In my opinion an essential for Thor, you not only have increased attack speed so your The Executioner passive is more useful, and the extra physical power and passive to ensure you deal enough damage to either highly wound tanks or kill squishy opponent Gods.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Soul Eater

Another essential for Thor as it not only increases health so you're able to take more damage, but give your more attack speed and the extremely useful physical lifesteal which gives you the advantage in combat against a stunning opponent after they've peppered you with abilities.

And if you're in need of healing, killing minions will allow you to stay in lane and not return to base.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Asi

Increasing your attack speed should be your main concern with Thor and with this item, you can engage more opponents who stun and take down tanks faster, with the added passive, you needn't worry about their ultimate, especially Ymirs.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Deathbringer

Combined with previous items, this item with allow you to clear lane instantly and very much tear apart enemy Gods. Dealing so much speed that critical strike chance will most assuredly take effect, and the bonus of dealing 50% more damage with every critical.

Skills

Warrior's Madness

Thor gains 20 physical power for each enemy god within 30 feet. Stacks up to 3 times.

Whether you're in 1v1 combat or pushing lane, you'll at least be buffed with 20 physical power, which is very useful for an advantage.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Mjolnir's Attunement

Thor throws Mjolnir forward, doing 50/90/130/170/210 (+30% of your physical power) physical damage to all enemies in its path outward and half that damage on its way back. Enemy gods hit by the throw take double damage if hit on the return as well. While the hammer is flying, pressing the button again will teleport Thor to his hammer.

Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 mana.

Cooldown: 14s.

This is definitely the ability to finish off enemy Gods, clear in-line minions, or scare opponents to ensure they stay away. Useful for ganking from behind cover, and using Berserker Barrage to deal all around damage. And it is Thor's only escape when engaged with a stunning enemy.
___________________________________________________________________________________

Tectonic Rift

Thor slams his hammer on the ground, causing a fissure to appear in front of him, instantly slowing enemies by 20/25/30/35/40% for 3s. One second after the slam, spikes erupt from the fissure causing blocking movement for 4s.

Cost: 75 mana.

Cooldown: 17/16/15/14/13s.

For escaping enemies and showing invisible opponents such as Loki, this ability will give you extra time for damage or an escape when in chase, combined with Mjolnir's Attunement you'll be able to reach or escape enemies faster than you.

Especially useful in a ganking situation, slamming this wall behind the enemy to stop them from fleeing easily, or helping your teammate from getting chased down.
___________________________________________________________________________________

Berserker Barrage

Thor spins his hammer around him, doing 20/40/60/80/100 (+25% of your physical power) physical damage every .4s for 2s. Thor is immune to knockup and slows for the duration.

Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 mana.

Cooldown: 13s.

Useful in combat against 2 or more enemies, it doesn't deal enough to a singular target to justify constant use. However, using it after teleporting with Mjolnir's Attunement or raining down with Anvil of Dawn will separate grouped enemies.
___________________________________________________________________________________

Anvil of Dawn

After a short buildup, Thor leaps into the air. While in the air, Thor can target a great distance away to come crashing down in the area, dealing 150/200/250/300/350 (+120% of your physical power) physical damage and stunning all enemies in the radius for 1.5s.

Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 mana.

Cooldown: 90s.

This is Thor's best ability (in my opinion), as it offers both an escape and a effective gank on unsuspecting grouped and escaping opponents. It gives you the ability to see a considerable amount of the map while in the air. Added with that, the ability of not getting stunned whilst in buildup.

Team Work

Team work is an essential to any Smite match.

Thor's skills allow him to both help teammates, sustain and engage opponents. Tectonic Rift allows him to stop escaping opponents by either using it to stop them in their tracks or placing it behind opponents as you gank, you can help teammates escape by smashing it behind them as they flee and it also shows invisible Gods such as Loki.

Combined with the teleportation from Mjolnir's Attunement you're able to jump into combat to help teammates, or defend the strategic building such as towers. Or keep enemies at a distant while your teammates return from base.

Berserker Barrage is useful for dispersing grouped enemies and a further scare when teammates are fleeing combat.

If you build Thor with the instructed items, it allows him to chase opponents who are chasing your teammates or wail on stunned enemies when they've used an escape.

Summary & Thank You!

All in all, Thor is a very useful God for helping teammates early to mid-game and taking them on by yourself onwards. And it can be used for any game-mode. Just don't 1v3!

Thank you kindly for reading my Thor guide, I hope you'll find it useful. I won't pretend it isn't my first guide, because it is. Any and all feedback is appreciated, if you have an opinion or improvements, please comment below.

And a +1 if you feel I deserve it!

meditation allows for longer sustain on lane. I'm suggesting the active, not saying use it every time.

Otherwise, thank you for the feedback.

You must be new around here... Greenevers is well... Greenevers and I can assure you he did read your guide.
Thor is much better suited to burst damage (Pen and Power) but he can be played attack speed lifesteal crit I will say. If you build him Attack speed lifesteal and crit though you are sacrificing the utility of being able to take hits. You get hit by any hard CC and you're dead, period. Yes you can box better, but that's not the point of Thor (and most assassins for that matter). You're job as a jungle is to jump in on 1 opponent, burst them down as quick as possible then get out. You are not supposed to be in sustained fights, that's the ADC's job. Plus if you are building lifesteal and crit, Celestial Legion Helm and Weakening Curse will shut you down permanently, that's how I would counter it.
Bottom line, you can build Thor attack speed lifesteal crit, but it's definitely not the best way to play Thor...

Nononononono! Never build crit and lifesteal on Thor.

Thor is an ability based god with mediocre scalings. This means he has an absurd amount of damage leading up to the mid-game. His damage tends to fall off a bit late game but his utility stays the same. This is why you build Thor like a bruiser assassin. His beserker barraage and Anvil of Dawn requires Thor to be in the midst of team fights.

Here is a much better overall build:

Warrior Tabi
Jotunn's Wrath
Shifter's Shield
magi's blessing
Titan's Bane
<situational Hide of the Urchin, Winged Blade, Witchblade, Runic Shield, Brawler's Beat Stick, etc.>

And please, no meditation! You sacrifice an active slot where another would be much better. Every game is different, don't build the same actives! You also gotta fix your skill order - you don't put points in certain skills that you prioritize over others when you can.

Here's a video from a pro jungler to help you out with Thor's build and gameplay. Good luck on your guide!

I disagree, thor is very strong early game, it dominates a jungle early and can gain xp fairly fast, im not sure if u mentioned the wall mjnor combo, it does more damage when it comes back.

Also really you dont have any damge apart form quin. I think heart seeker or jountalem (or something) would add that extra power/pen.

But must try the build it could work :D

I'm only saying he isn't if built incorrectly. I agree he dominates regardless.

I'll look into adding a damage item somewhere. But the point of the build is that Thor does enough damage off the bat, increasing his attack speed is makes it so you can burst damage and escape.

Thank you for the comment!
