Tyr is honor, he is courage, he is honor... and pretty much the Dank Lord himself. What Tyr brings to the table is one of the most annoying CC effects in the game: knock up and knock back. He has a slow too, but it's not as crucial as his Fearless Combo. Aside from the insane damage it can lockdown a lot of people (if you can line 'em up, that is) or isolate a core target (ADC, Mage).
Pros:
- High sustain
- High defense
- Medium Crowd Control (too reliant on his 1 to be classified as High)
- A badass viking wielding a Claymore with one hand and dispensing JUSTICE
Cons:
- Bad early game, you will be bullied in lane until you reach level 7-8
- While Fearless + Powerclave is an amazing combo it's his ONLY combo, miss it and you miss all your big damage
- Doesn't have an engage aside from Blink or Lawbringer (if you don't like walking in you enemy face, that is)
This is Tyr passive: Stuns, Taunts, Fears, Intoxicate, and Mesmerize cannot affect Tyr for longer than 1s. What's not to love? Remember than Crowd Control Reduction stats from some items (for example Spirit Robe) will "stack with his passive, so you'll reduce CC effects on Tyr even more! Tyr charges forward, immune to knockup, damaging enemies. Assault Stance: Tyr pushes all enemies along with him, hitting them 2 times and knocking them up in the air. Guard Stance: Tyr hits each enemy only once, passing through them. This is Tyr. Period. No seriously, from this skill comes his CC, his main source of damage and the reason of a lot of MLG clips! Jokes aside, it's your key instrument, you can push people around, knock 'em up, deal a lot of damage, and clear your wave. The effects change depending on what stance Tyr is in. In Assault Stance he will deal 240 + 50% (per hit, so 100% cuz it hits twice) of your physical damage. On a 14 secs cooldown ability. On Guard Stance you will deal 240 + 50% of your physical damage, the ability hits every god you pass trough once. Neat. You won't max this first though, oh no, and this brings me to my second point... Tyr makes a massive melee attack, hitting all enemies within a 180 degree cone. Assault Stance: Enemies that are knocked up in the air are knocked away. Guard Stance: Tyr heals twice for the first enemy hit, and once for each additional enemy (max 3). This is the butter to your bread, deals 80 / 115 / 150 / 185 / 220 (+65% of your Physical Power), knock backs enemies that are knocked up (hint, your Fearless) or heals you for 25 / 45 / 65 / 85 / 105, for a max of 3 hits. The first hits will heal you for double the amount (so yeah, 420 hp at max rank if you hit three enemies or minions, it that's not lit I dunno what is). Use this after your Fearless in Assault Stance or in a teamfight in Guard Stance. ever wished you could actually buy a 7th item? Well, Tyr has it in his 3! You're basically looking at a full tier 3 item when maxed, with 50 physical power in Assault Stance or 50 protections (both Physical AND Magical) in Guard Stance. You max this 3rd because you need the damage and CC of your Fearless combo. This is your ultimate, it deals 150 / 225 / 300 / 375 / 450 (+120% of your Physical Power) damage and slows enemy for 25% for 3 seconds. Don't let the scaling fool you, you will max this last aside from your first point at level 5. It's CC immune, has a long radius and AoE, it's your initiation (if you didn't buy Blink) and one of your (numerous to be honest) escapes. You can use this to finish off enemies too, but remember to use it in Guard Stance. In my experience, while it will deal less damage, it makes easier to escape from a failed gank. |
If you watched the items I put in the build you may ask yourself "Why does this dude build nearly full tank?" well, if you're new to Conquest a Solo laner usually it's basically a glorified tank. You will be the second frontliner, initiator or that guy that annoys the hell outta the backlines, so you need to be tanky. I usually build only Titan's Bane because Warriors, and Tyr in particular, have actually pretty solid damage even late game, but their scaling is not really the best (you're not a Mage, and your basics don't hit as hard as an ADC) so Pen is better than Power in my opinion. Some will argue that, since late game your goal is to keep the backlines occupied with you, Titan's is not the best choice since it works on % protections, which ADC and Mages usually lack, preferring instead flat pen. While I agree, Titan's is good mix that works for me if a specific item like, let's say Brawler Beatstick to counter healers healers, is not needed. Sometimes I just go straight tank aside from Warrior Tabi, just to make sure I live and keep annoying their Mage/Adc. This is the life of a Solo laner but hey, at least you will always be ahead... well, usually to be more precise.
it's core for almost every warrior... no, scratch that, is core for every warrior. Aside from the time when Tank Boots were stupid broken (which, thank god, is over) it's always been a Warrior first item, aside of couse from your starter Item. It will give you the power to clear the minion wave really quickly so you can poke the enemy solo laner.
Thir needs cooldown, and mana. This gives you both AND 75 physical protection. What's not to love? Swap this with Genji's Guard if enemy Solo is a magical type.
Bullwark of Hope Health, 60 magical protections, 10% Crowd Control Reduction and lifesaver SHIELD! It's pricey, but always buy this second.
Defense is only good if it's a mix of Health and protections. You pick Winged Blade for the sweet 300 hps. Attack speed it's not really a must for Tyr. Why this and not Frostbound Hammer, you may ask. Well, as I said, Tyr AA chain is slow as HELL, so you can actually miss your AA to keep the passive of Frostbound Hammer up. Winged Blade gives you +10% movement speeds and if someone tries to slow you the passive will make you even faster! Amazing for chasing or escaping.
40 protections both, Cooldown reduction (remember, Tyr needs it!) and a passive that mitigates damage when hit by hard CC. Grab this, period.
as I said above, 30 phys power and 33% penetration. Sweet! Brings down enemies and structures alike.
late game, like super late when everyone is level 20 and builds are finished, sell Breastplate of Valor for this. 60 protections each, cooldown reduction and if below 30% health you will stun enemies around you and be CC immune for a short period. Buy. It.
Relics
Teleport you must always keep up with the enemy solo laner, this grants you a super fast return to lane after a hasty back or a death
Blink I once messaged HiRez telling them to make Blink part of Tyr's kit. That didn't end well. But yeah, you are a massive dude wyelding a massive sword. No one wants to be near you. Blink makes you catch them off guard and push them in your tower or towards your team. Be careful tho, the long cooldown will hurt if you miss. Now go out and make those MLG plays!
Meditation Giving up Blink always hurts a Tyr main inside, but sometimes you need to help your teammates. WHat better relic than Meditation? The answer is
Shell When things can get messy, Shell can save the day. Damage mitigations for your teammates can make the difference between a 5v5 and a 4v5. Pick this baby up if you think you don't need a 2nd Meditation
